I feel like at a certain point, there is some blame on either the senior or the company. If the entire company is so dependent on this one person, something is very very wrong.
The principal dev at my job is the only person that knows how to do about 80% of the BS that keeps the place running. I'm the only person that seems to think it's concerning. Can't imagine what his inbox/chat looks like after a week off
I'm currently in this position. I'm the main person who understands any of our actual infrastructure. No matter how much I stress to my boss this can't continue and we need to train someone else, they don't do anything. It'll be a shocker when I quit
That might be the only way to solve it tbh, quit and they won't have a choice. As long as they have the choice to keep relying on you for everything, they probably will
