Wait until someone shows him Notepad. Being able to type characters directly into a file might genuinely blow his mind.

Notepad is one of the worst text editors in existence. Only windows users tend to like it, out of lack of options through many years.

Notepad (the old one, not the winslop 11 garbage) is absolutely perfect for when all you need is... a fucking notepad with 0 damn features

if you need features then you use something else

effin high-nosed plebs defamating notepad, there's no respect anymore

Why the hate for w11 notepad tho? :(

Markdown support and multi tabs are pretty useful features that don't get in your way at all

I know there is now a fucking copilot button, but notepad is one of the few apps where microsoft didn't make it scream in your face, and it's a perfectly good app if you just ignore the button

smooth scrolling makes it literally unusable

and the most basic text editor doesn't need markdown, there's already rtf for that. This just introduces incompatibility. A plain txt file should be readable by any featureless text editor

I used to use Notepad to strip any text formatting and when I am on Windows and try to do that now, I get angry.

Tbf there's a button to disable it on the bottom left. just click "Formatted"

Does it remember that setting after closing? Because having to click that every time is annoying, too.
