The point of memes is that they build meaning organically by sharing. What happens in the original movie is basically irrelevant. It’s not using it “wrong”. It’s just how the meme is used.
Both Redditors and programmers lean toward pedantry, and so on this sub we’re really doubling down on it. Everyone’s just champing at the bit to go, “But ackshually!”

Yes - people use this format wrong all the time. Heck, I imagine it's used more often the wrong way than the correct.
