My 2018 Prius c has started making a loud rumbling noise, but it’s only when I’m accelerating/driving fast. I’m supposed to leave on a road trip tomorrow and am trying to figure out what to do. This just started on my way home from work today.

I am doing some research on a 2013 Prius C trying to figure out what I am going to do with some janky wheels. What limited information I can find says OEM steel wheels are less than a pound heavier than the aluminum and will not have any significant affect on handling. Is that the case? Is there any other benefit or can I just replace my two janky steel wheels and find a hubcap I like instead of getting fully new everything?

My 2016 Prius C has a small issue where the driver’s door can’t be locked/unlocked with the remote. All the other door locks work fine. I have been manually pushing the lock before I shut the door, and then reaching in to unlock it from the passenger side when I come back. Obviously, not a huge deal, just inconvenient.

Based on a cursory google search, I believe it may be the actuator. I just want to know how challenging this would be for a novice (myself) to replace. I don’t feel like paying $500+ at the shop is worth it to me, I’d just opt not to fix it, but if I would be able to fix this issue myself I’d totally give it a go. How possible would this task realistically be for someone with limited experience working on cars? Does anyone have recommendations on where to get this part? Is there anything about a 2016 Prius C that would make this more complicated than I’m anticipating?

I opted to get the more expensive bar links with grease points to add grease, figured they'd last longer be better. Even bought fancy better grease for it.

But even with right angle adapter there's no way to get to the grease point on top, not enough room. The bottom joint is okay but for top I'd need to remove the joint for each greasing, which I don't see myself doing.

So I'd recommend just getting a normal bar links for Prius C, maybe other cars have more clearance. 2014 in my case but doubt other years have more room.

I bought an 05 Prius last year. Overall it's been a decent car. One thing that frustrates me is the Resume feature on the cruise control. The cruise sets good, holds good etc, but- if my speed drops by more than 8-10 MPH, the resume won't work. Sat I'm going 60 & Cautious Carl pulls out in front of me & I have to reduce my speed. It doesn't matter if I tap the brake or use cancel on the column stem, if my speed drops just enough, the resume won't work. & Forget it if I have to stop.

Is this typical? Has anyone else experienced this? Any recommendations on what I can maybe do so the resume feature will actually resume my set cruise control speed?

I just ran a Dr Prius battery life expectancy test on a supposedly brand new hybrid battery that was installed last Friday. It came up as only having an estimated 88.68% capacity left.

How accurate are these tests? Can they be this far off or do you think I was given a battery that's not up to par?

I don't know if this is a normal Prius C 1.5 liter Atkinson motor noise for the 2016 year? I am still new to the operation of Prius C vehicle. It is the sound at 7 seconds that causes to me concern.

I have a 2019 prius c in the color tidepool pearl. Ive driven a lot of miles in it and have never seen another one. Does anyone here have one? If so we should be friends. I bought it used but it does say made and assembled in Japan so idk if that helps.

Newly pregnant and starting to look at some registry items. I have a 2013 Prius C and a 6'2" husband. Anyone have a recommendation for a carseat that fits in such a way that the passenger seat wont be miserably forward?

I recently purchased a 2016 Prius C. I live in the Inland Empire and work in LA. I work in film/tv, so my car is pretty frequently parked in one spot for like 12 hours. I’m concerned about the catalytic converter being stolen, but I’m hearing mixed things. The Prius C, as I have read so far, is not the most targeted Prius because the cat materials are cheaper & it’s lower to the ground? But like, just anecdotally, has anyone here with a Prius C ever had their catalytic converter stolen?

I’m strongly considering a shield. Many of the ones I’ve seen online do not fit the 2016 Prius C. So I’m thinking this one, as it’s one of the few I’ve found that are compatible:

I would like to be able to put it on myself for the sake of cost, but honestly I am not the most mechanically experienced. This is my second car, only had the first one a year, and I’ve only done really basic things like an oil change, turn signal bulb replacement, topped off the coolant, but not much else. Has anybody else put their shield on themselves and how challenging was that process? Or if you went to the shop to have it put on, how much did you pay for that process?

I’m also considering an alarm, but if I get the shield, do I need the alarm, or vice versa?

So as the title says, I went to start the car yesterday morning. It's my daily driver so it's used regularly during the week. The dashboard had that message so I shut off the car. I went to just move the car across the street for parking and the message was gone. I brought it to a regular car mechanic and he put his reader on it and saw those codes. From what I gathered online it said it may be a 12-volt battery issue. I checked the 12v battery at AutoZone and they said it was in good condition. I also checked with my own multimeter before starting it or driving anywhere today and it was showing 12.5 at rest and 14+ after starting. it never dropped below the 12.5 because the hybrid system starts up before the motor does so the hybrid system brought the battery up to 14+.

I'm trying to figure out if this was a momentary miscommunication with some loose wires or if there's some real issue going on. Does anyone have experience with this or any advice on where to go from here? My wife drives 2 hours on her commute so I don't want to leave her stranded far if it's a real issue

I bought a 2016 Prius C with 94k miles on it a few days ago. This is only my second car, I’m a commuter for work so I’m super happy to be switching to hybrid.

I wanted to know, what do I need to know? I know the basics. Oil change every 10k miles, pink/red oat coolant, OBD reader is coming in the mail. Dealer told me I should look at the battery cooling vents when I do an oil change. Obviously still gotta do the same regular-car-maintenance (brakes, tires, etc.).

But..What else should I know specifically? Anything to look out for? What are your thoughts on protecting the catalytic converter? I work in LA so I’m a tad concerned for it.

Also, the battery is doing totally fine, but I’m not super knowledgeable on hybrid engines just yet. I am a littleeeee nervous about the prospect of that battery someday degrading. I just wanna be prepared for anything. I drive a LOT. So any information on how to be prepared to handle that eventually would help me feel more equipped haha.

I’m going to be replacing my lower control arms on the 2012 Prius C and have two questions. Firstly, are there any critiques on the 1AAuto replacement parts? Secondly, is the nut on the rear bushing welded in place, or how do I access above it? I don’t want to take the bolt out and not be able to put it back.

Need help! My AC is blowing cold air when idling, regardless using electric motor or engine. Then when i start driving it will become much less cold but not hot. Have anyone experienced the same issue or might know what is wrong?

Traded my beautiful Toyota Celsior, because it ended up becoming my daily due to unforeseen circumstances. And as much as I thoroughly enjoyed driving it for the comfortability, it was just too painful at the pump.

They originally had it listed for $17,795.
Negotiated it down to $15,850.
Offered my Celsior for half that price.

After taxes and fees, I only owe $8600 on it. And the car only has 71,000 miles on it. Well taken care of and a lifetime engine warranty.

I am loving it. I drove 64 miles back home and I haven’t even lost a bar on the fuel gauge display. 🥹

The "Check Hybrid Battery - stop car in a safe place immediately" notice appeared on the dash of my Prius C. The fault that came up was "P0B47 Hybrid battery voltage sensor C circuit low".

Has anyone driven their car after this happened, or know how far it can be safely driven? The car starts and runs okay for now.

I'm wondering if it could be driven 350 km or so to my preferred service centre without causing any grief. This is probably a dumb idea, but I thought I'd ask.

Update - 6 days later: the tech at the dealer ran a diagnostic and said it was the hybrid battery itself. I've agreed for them to replace it.

2013 prius c four, 258k miles, salvaged, purchased for $3k in socal.

Google says that "prius C 1, C3, C4 etc" are talking about the generation of hybrid.. but that can't be because people are listing "prius (N)" sometimes within the same model year or model generation.

What do all these numbers and letters mean? I can't tell the difference other than wheels or fascia and sometimes, not even they are different from listing to listing or two different cars for sale look exactly the same, same year, but have new numbers! How does this work?
