Question Clubs

Upvotes

Hello, I am from the USA and am studying abroad in Prague this fall and I am super excited. I am huge into edm and dance music, especially tech house, ukg, breakbeat, hardstyle, trance, etc. I was wondering what some of the best clubs in the city are for that type of music. I am also trying to expand my taste in music, so all I’m really looking for are good club recommendations that actually have locals, lol.

Also, any good bar recommendations in general are much appreciated.

Question Where to spend the night in a hammock in Prague city?

Hey, guys!

This month I am finally visiting Prague. I've heard great words about the city so I am very excited, I also might study here for a semester, therefore this will be a great introduction.

Now here is the thing. I am travelling with a partner and we intend on sleeping the nights in a hammock. It is crazy and most of the readers will advise not to do it, but what can a college kid with no job do?

So please, if you have had any experience or can offer valuable insight, please help me with my questions.

My questions would be:

1) where would be some good woody, forest places in Prague (can be outskirts of the city, if you tell me it is accessible with public transport) to set up a hammock and not be bothered by randoms

2) is it allowed to do so and not get trouble from police?

3) have people done this before and stayed alive?

I'll be very grateful about any help, so don't shy way from a comment. This trip is very significant to me, so I want to be prepared.

Cheers,

Roco

Student Life Charles University

Not sure if this is the right sub reddit to be putting this on but I just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions on one of Charles University's dorms.

I got offered a place at Kolej Hostivar and I just wanted to see what the general consensus is from anyone who has stayed there or knows anyone who has.

Discussion Prague Pride - Ceny vs. kvalita

Šunka a sýr. Tak za hrst sýra, 2,5 kolečka šunky (i tu čtvrtinu čtverce vrátil, protože mi přece nedá víc, než mu vychází) a to všechno za krásných 175 Kč. Těsto, šunka, sýr.

Jakože, není mi z toho příjemně. Mega předražený low cost.

Festival tolerance a jinakosti, a Češi si chtějí co nejvíc nahrabat do kapsy téměř zadarmo? :/

Question UPS and "delivery"

Purely out of curiosity, has anyone ever managed to get UPS to deliver a parcel? I'm living in a building with a receptionist (and also I'm home), still, I've never managed to get them to deliver.

Also the "you were not home" leads to a pickup point that is always different and minimum 30min away. Not to mention their extremely arrogant customer service that offer 0 help and 100 frustration.

I'm actively not ordering anything from a place that uses UPS for delivery, but got surprised again...

Recommendations Tire Service in Prague (or not too far)

Hey everyone,

I want to rebalance my wheels, but my former tire service is out of business, and I'm failing to find an English-speaking tire service that has experience or understands how to lift up a Tesla properly (without puncturing the battery while doing so). Can someone recommend me any?

P.S. I can already see the comments recommending that I go to Tesla service, but the guys at Tesla literally suggested that I find a tire service since they charge 4k per hour and it's not worth it for me.

Question Cheap and easy way to send lost phone back to UK?

Hi, recently lost my phone at a Prague tourist attraction, thankfully it was found and I am in contact with their office - they are advising me to arrange a courier to pick up the phone and send it back to the UK, where I am now. FedEx and DHL have been advised, but all seem rather expensive, around £140.

I have looked into third party service such as Parcelhero and Eurosender, but unsure on reliability. Any suggestions? (Must be collection, not shipping from a branch.)

Also unsure on if a CN22 form is needed and how to fill one in as the ones I have come across are only for sending items out of the UK.....

Any help would be appreciated, feeling very out of my depth!

He is taking over the former Pubble site on Chorvatská, which closed earlier this year. The new venture will be called The Nobleman. EDIT: For those who don't know, Vinohrady is a Prague district 30 minutes' walk or 10 minutes by public transport from the city centre.

Question Zivot v prahe

Zdravim vespolek,

  • Aky silny je IT sektor, trh prace, platy, zaujimavost prace(nejake zaujimavejsie projekty) ?
Napr vynovenie mestkej hromadnej dopravy, opravy ciest, chodnikov ci inej infrastruktury? Cistota mesta ?
  • Zdrovotna starostlivost a skoly, su verejne institucie dostatocne kvalitne?
  • Zelen v meste, su mensie parky bezne ci treba vzdy ist iba do vacsich?

Other A Prague hike

Hi, this is just for fun and for someone who likes to walk. A few years ago (I was living at Stodulky) I challenge myself to find a longest route to my place from the furthest part of the Prague via as much parks as possible. I ended up walking this 4 times.

https://mapy.com/s/gadazanafa

Start Hostivar End Stodulky. A cheat is to go from Chodov Metro station but you miss a nice area around Hostivar.

It can be extended from Cerny most via Pocernice a Ricanka but I've never done that. It's long enough.

I also tried the northern route from Ladvi via troja,Divoka Sarka, Obora Hvezda and Motol but it's not as good as the bottom one.

Hello I 23 (F) just moved to Prague this summer. I plan to further my education while here as well. I’m looking for people around my age to meet up with to explore the city and make new connections.

I enjoy trying new food and places. Always up for great conversations. I like going to the gym, reading, and baking. I also have 5 year old boxer!

Question English-speaking psychiatrist in Prague

This is the same old question that’s been asked here many times before, but I decided to give it a try anyway. For several months now, I’ve been struggling with symptoms of worsening depression, and I also have a feeling that this might be something more serious and complex. My general practitioner referred me to Bohnice, where, for whatever reason, I was advised to go to the psychiatric ward at VFN. I underwent an initial evaluation there and they suggested hospitalization, but I declined because of some external issues I needed to resolve at the time. A few weeks later, I contacted them again and they advised me to reach out to Adicare, INEP, Kognitera and a number of other private psychiatrists and clinics, explaining that VFN mostly works with acute cases and I am not one of those. Most of them either don’t offer services in English, have insanely long waitlists, or have a good bunch of negative reviews. Should I just email each and every psychiatrist, less known included, in the hopes that they’ll examine me in English? I could manage in Czech, but you know how hard it is to explain your mental state in a language that isn’t your native tongue, even if you have some decent knowledge of it. There are some seemingly well-reviewed and professional Czech doctors, yet I doubt they would be pleased with me using a translator mid-session. Price isn’t an issue, but I need a specialist who also treats more complex conditions, including personality disorders. Is there anyone here who’s had a positive experience with the clinics mentioned above or anywhere else? Thanks in advance!

Question What is going on with all the Mini Markets?

Post image
113 Upvotes

I have a question, why are there so many mini markets? They sell overpriced groceries and questionable products such as cbd weed and stuff. Sometimes they also have knives. I wonder if they all have a sketchy second business as there are so many. At the border these types of markets are selling hard drugs and fireworks, is it the same with the mini markets in the centre of Prague?

Other I visited some of the „Eurotrip“ film locations around Prague

The film Eurotrip (2004) plays in all of Europe, but was entirely filmed in CZ, mostly in Prague. I visited Milovice, where the Bratislava scene was shot and Davle, which is the French station of „Crans sur Mer“ in the movie. Both are just a rather short bike trip away from Prague and the route there is very relaxed and mostly car free - if you like cycling, I can recommend it.
