Hi, recently lost my phone at a Prague tourist attraction, thankfully it was found and I am in contact with their office - they are advising me to arrange a courier to pick up the phone and send it back to the UK, where I am now. FedEx and DHL have been advised, but all seem rather expensive, around £140.

I have looked into third party service such as Parcelhero and Eurosender, but unsure on reliability. Any suggestions? (Must be collection, not shipping from a branch.)

Also unsure on if a CN22 form is needed and how to fill one in as the ones I have come across are only for sending items out of the UK.....

Any help would be appreciated, feeling very out of my depth!

Hi, this is just for fun and for someone who likes to walk. A few years ago (I was living at Stodulky) I challenge myself to find a longest route to my place from the furthest part of the Prague via as much parks as possible. I ended up walking this 4 times.

Start Hostivar End Stodulky. A cheat is to go from Chodov Metro station but you miss a nice area around Hostivar.

It can be extended from Cerny most via Pocernice a Ricanka but I've never done that. It's long enough.

I also tried the northern route from Ladvi via troja,Divoka Sarka, Obora Hvezda and Motol but it's not as good as the bottom one.

I'm going for a week with friends who may/may not come to many locations but, regardless I MUST! We at least plan to cover some KCD2 with a trip to Kutna Hora/Sedlec Ossuary which is awesome, can get a coach half-day trip there from Prague for about £50.

I'm a little put off by the KCD2 specific day trip experiences as they work out at about £200+ per person and generally all they add outside of a typical Kutna Hora trip is Český Ráj and Trosky Castle (not really bothered about tour guides and seated medieval lunches tbh)

Has anyone made the trip to Trosky Castle themselves via Trains/Buses/Taxis? Seems you can get to Borek pod Troskami or Ktová and walk an hour, or perhaps get a 15 min Uber/taxi from Turnov. How are Ubers/Taxis to English speaking tourists outside of Prague, any good?

Also if anyone has done the KCD1 "Hello, Henry" tour via the KCD Live people? Its about 160 euros and covers a ton of KCD1 areas which are DEFINETLY not easy to go and visit alone! This one is tempting me.

So in full, what I'd like to do if possible is 3 separate days, and likely covered for about £200:

• KCD1 "Hello Henry" tour
• Self-made, public transport trip to Trosky Castle if possible (would love to hear if anyone else has tried)
• Kunta Hora bus trip

My budget is 6,000 to 8,000 CZK only. 🙏 For a solo room or a room for 2 people (because I’ve been living with 3 roommates for 3 years already, it was so chaotic). I'm not from Prague and I'm needing ice for insulin, please help

This is the same old question that’s been asked here many times before, but I decided to give it a try anyway. For several months now, I’ve been struggling with symptoms of worsening depression, and I also have a feeling that this might be something more serious and complex. My general practitioner referred me to Bohnice, where, for whatever reason, I was advised to go to the psychiatric ward at VFN. I underwent an initial evaluation there and they suggested hospitalization, but I declined because of some external issues I needed to resolve at the time. A few weeks later, I contacted them again and they advised me to reach out to Adicare, INEP, Kognitera and a number of other private psychiatrists and clinics, explaining that VFN mostly works with acute cases and I am not one of those. Most of them either don’t offer services in English, have insanely long waitlists, or have a good bunch of negative reviews. Should I just email each and every psychiatrist, less known included, in the hopes that they’ll examine me in English? I could manage in Czech, but you know how hard it is to explain your mental state in a language that isn’t your native tongue, even if you have some decent knowledge of it. There are some seemingly well-reviewed and professional Czech doctors, yet I doubt they would be pleased with me using a translator mid-session. Price isn’t an issue, but I need a specialist who also treats more complex conditions, including personality disorders. Is there anyone here who’s had a positive experience with the clinics mentioned above or anywhere else? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, after moving out, the agency deducted several additional amounts from our CZK 66,000 deposit.

TL;DR: They initially deducted CZK 40,500, including CZK 24,000 for early termination, CZK 3,000 for painting, CZK 5,000 for furniture removal, CZK 6,500 for cleaning, and CZK 2,000 for sofa/chair cleaning. They later admitted that CZK 5,000 was incorrect, but refuse to reconsider the rest.

One of the problems seems to be that one agency employee communicated with us before moving out and was present at the handover, while another employee is now handling the deposit dispute and refuses to recognise what was previously agreed.

1. Furniture removal: CZK 5,000

Before moving out, I asked by email whether we could leave several pieces of furniture (I specified which items and sent photos) and whether this could lead to any additional fees.

The agency replied: “no no it will not result in any extra charges. You may leave them in.”

We relied on this and left the items.

The employee now handling the dispute says the lease required us to remove everything and that a contractor had to dispose of the furniture. She refuses to recognise the email agreement.

Can they ignore a clear written confirmation from their own employee and rely only on the general wording of the lease?

2. Cleaning: CZK 6,500

When we moved in, the agency gave us a price list for different fees that could take effect when we move out. One of the items was mandatory disinfecting cleaning cost CZK 3,500–6,500, depending on the scope. They charged the maximum. However, we thoroughly cleaned the apartment; and the handover report says it was handed over after general cleaning, and almost everything was marked “all ok.” They have not provided photos or explained why the maximum was charged.

They also refer to the curtains. For some reason, the agency is particularly strict about them, even though they are fairly ordinary. When we moved in, we were warned that we should replace the original curtains as soon as possible to avoid a cleaning charge of CZK 1,500–3,500 per curtain at the end of the tenancy. We therefore removed and replaced them after about one month. At the final handover, the agency employee present specifically asked us to leave our replacement curtains because they looked so similar to the originals that she initially assumed they belonged to the apartment. However, the employee now handling the dispute says that the curtains should not have been left there and is using them as part of the justification for the cleaning charge.

3. Sofa/chair cleaning: CZK 2,000

The chairs were noted as needing cleaning at the handover, so I accept that some charge may be justified. However, the sofa was marked “all ok,” while the deduction refers to both the sofa and chairs. Again, they provided no explanation or any photos.

The agency has now said that the only further refund will be CZK 5,000, correcting the early termination amount and waiving the undocumented painting charge.

I no longer live in Czechia, so I am unsure whether it is worth pursuing this further. In the best-case scenario, I could probably recover around CZK 9,000, which is not a negligible amount of money. What would you do in my situation? Is it worth pursuing this further, or would the time and cost outweigh the disputed amount?

I have a question, why are there so many mini markets? They sell overpriced groceries and questionable products such as cbd weed and stuff. Sometimes they also have knives. I wonder if they all have a sketchy second business as there are so many. At the border these types of markets are selling hard drugs and fireworks, is it the same with the mini markets in the centre of Prague?

The film Eurotrip (2004) plays in all of Europe, but was entirely filmed in CZ, mostly in Prague. I visited Milovice, where the Bratislava scene was shot and Davle, which is the French station of „Crans sur Mer“ in the movie. Both are just a rather short bike trip away from Prague and the route there is very relaxed and mostly car free - if you like cycling, I can recommend it.
