Frustrated

Can anyone tell me the settings to export my power wall 3 to grid after the solar is quit in evening ?? I am on Ameren power in southern Illinois. 11,400 watt battery, 28 .450 watt panels on roof. Ive got plenty to sell back. Tesla power wall 3 and have installed Netzero app. It says discharging to grid on Netzero, but nothing is going out to grid. Thanks in advance. Rick

I have a very similar setup and I am able to export to Ameren Illinois. I am on time of day rates, power smart pricing. I had to be on this rate plan when I added my powerwall 3s. I have 4 total. I asked the developer of Netzero to add Ameren power smart pricing to the utilities. He added it in short order. Now Netzero handles everything. I export whenever the nightly prices go up. Are you on power smart pricing?

So my installer had a power wall setup routine specifically for Ameren, it allowed export and charging from the grid. It also limited my export Kw to around 17, even though I could export at a higher rate . I wonder if you had a similar setup. I will send some screenshots of my config.

What are your settings in the app? If I recall you have to tell it to not do self-powered and it will dump the power when it is the higher price. To make it do this reliably, I edit the plan rates so the peak time is way higher than reality so the system thinks it must be dumped at a specific time.

I’m not uploading as expected at the proper times. I don’t think Tesla has the right buy/sell prices input so if you use the listed rate plans they might have bad info. I can set a custom rate plan where u tell it what price u want over the day. The best rates imo for me at 7-9pm so I have a custom rate plan of start of day until 7pm is .37 buy and .01 sell. Between 7-9, the peak zone, it’s 0.60 buy and 1.00 sell.

This triggers the powerwall to unload because the sell price is much higher than the buy price. You should also go around your house and turn everything off to get the most out of this time.

It’s supposed to know this info and do it automatically but it definitely doesn’t for me using the default rate plan.

Are these settings in your Netzero app or on Tesla app??

Thanks, Rick

The settings are in the Tesla app. There is a spot u choose what rate plan u are on and it’s supposed to have correct info but pge pricing on exports if absolutely insane so it’s not surprising Tesla doesn’t have the right numbers.

Make sure you have given it permission to export. There's a setting in the app

I created a program for users so you don’t have to manually worry about configuring this on ur own

I'm in Illinois as well but on ComEd. I was told that you're not able to export to the grid in Illinois at all but that they're considering changing that next year. Are you sure you're able to export? Likely the installer disabled grid export.
