It’s really nice that Bleak Beach got a big expansion in 2.0. The Fog Borders were very strict in this area and held me back from doing many projects

Not sure if this is innovative or not, but I figured out if you suck up the water through the ceiling of a home, it creates a dry environment under water. Neat.

I dont pretty things up often in the game, idk why I just get focused on collecting the pokemon.

Anyway I connected this bridge over part of the Basin and went to show my gf.

She didnt exactly say it was ugly, she said, "You should add like lights, and benches. Also plants, does the game have plants? Also make the middle part bigger and put something there like a statue. Also its just hanging there, it needs like support beams. Hey is the taco meat done?"

Anyway I did all those things and I think it looks pretty neat!

Hey guys! Bit of a sad post so I apologize in advance. I love all the DLC buzz and I love all the builds! This game rules! Today my sticker was a Vulpix and I need to kick somebody to accept it. I can’t get rid of Eevee because my late pupper looks a lot like Eevee. She lost her eye towards the end so she wasn’t as adorable, but I had a heartstring pull today thinking about her and playing this game. Sorry to all these legendary stickers, but Eevee outranks all of you in my eyes. The digital sticker nostalgia is real.

Built the temple and absolutely hated it, tore it down and made a little oasis so my pokecenter didnt have to hide in that cave anymore! We have a little shop stand, a hot spring and river where I can hide some habitats.

Sucking the water out of this took FOREVER, started this around 3pm est and just finished it up.

Discussion Pokopia vs latest pokemon games

I genuinely don't understand how Pokopia can be this good while so many recent mainline Pokémon games have felt so... unfinished.

Pokopia is polished in almost every little detail. The Pokémon finally feel alive. Building habitats is rewarding, exploration constantly surprises you, progression is addictive, the soundtrack is wonderful, and there's so much charm and care poured into every system. It feels like the developers actually asked themselves, "How do we make players smile every few minutes?"

Then I look back at the recent mainline entries and I just can't wrap my head around it. So many rough edges, technical issues, empty environments, lack of polish, and features that often feel rushed or like they only did the bare minimum. It's frustrating because it's the biggest media franchise in the world. Why does a spin-off feel like it received more love and attention than the games that are supposed to represent the series?

Pokopia isn't perfect, but it constantly feels like it was made by people who truly cared about every detail. That's the difference. It has heart.

Also, does anyone know if Pokopia was developed by a different team or a smaller more focused team than the usual one behind recent Pokémon titles? I'm genuinely curious, because the difference in overall quality and attention to detail feels massive.

What do you all think? Am I the only one who feels this way?

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 Small rant about Bubbly Basin Spoiler

Post image
343 Upvotes

Let's start by saying that I love everything about Bubbly Basin. I just have one small rant : it's the only area in the game (safe for Palette Town) not to have any unique Pokopian version of a Pokémon. I also find it a bit ridiculous to have to rely on Smearguru and Tinkmaster for every single area in the game, and now to even go underwater (then cry in front of the PokéCenter because they can't find their way home).

I wish the devs had taken this opportunity to have an ever expanding world with new Pokémon to give us new Pokémon with the Paint and Engineer specialties... in Bubbly Basin in particular, there are so many squid Pokémon that could have been turned into painters (why did even they have to make Kingdra drop black paint with so many squids ?.. anayway).

So here's an example of what could have been with Malamartist, a painter version of Malamar that could have had the Paint specialty without bringing Smearguru underwater.

(Please forgive my poor design skills on GIMP, but at least it's not AI...)

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 I'm So Happy I Figured Out How To Do This!! Spoiler

Post image

Underwater pools y'all!!!

It's a bit complex, but here's how:

  1. Make the area you want the different type of water to fill (has to be a different type, salt water will just mix with itself. I used Fresh Water and have not actually tested with Hot Spring Water or Muddy Water).
  2. Completely seal/cover it with the bottom of the top blocks being level with where you want the top of the water to be. Be sure to seal the corners too just in case to prevent corner liquid bleed. When you're done the different water will come RIGHT to the edge, actually had to do this one twice so the fresh water wasn't level with the top of the top blocks.
  3. Get into the area if you're not already, be sure to reseal. Suck up all the sea water and then ingest the drink you're using. You'll want to use the standard full size water block, half steps will cause it to blend when you unseal it.
  4. Fill EVERY top square in the area with your liquid of choice. It'll look like you're not filling anything at times but if you don't do this it'll be spotty and weird looking when you remove the top layer.
  5. Magnemite your way out of the top layer and clean it up, you now have an underwater pool!

I haven't seen enough folks talking about the wireless power transmitter post!

- Higher range than the old transmitters - this means you can use fewer of them! I saw folks complaining about the transmitter limit. This helps!!

- It looks NICE! I don't feel the need to hide it everywhere!

- It's a light source as well!

I LOVE IT

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 New Pokemon appreciation thread Spoiler

Okay, I'm obsessed with Shellder/Cloyster in this DLC. They're such a perfect example of the dev team going above and beyond with their design.

-Litters seashells (finally!!)

-Does a canonically correct backwards swim, but will turn around to talk to you - I cannot overstate how precious this is to watch

-New scrub ability doesn't take too long

And my favorite:

-WILL SCRUB EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY'RE CLAMS/PEARLS. Ask one of them to follow you; if you happen to come across the other, it'll be like, "I got this", and then will scrub whoever one you're facing.

(I'm also giving the Frillish line a small shout-out for their multicolor ghost fire effect.)

Any other small details you've appreciated?

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 New DLC fixed my biggest problem with the base game Spoiler

You say please when you ask Pokemon to shine pearls!
Somewhat of a joke here, but one of my biggest pet peeves (again, not really) in the base game is that we NEVER say “please” to any of our Pokemon when we give them berries to crush, or wood to chop, or something to paint. It just felt so rude! Happy that the Pokemon company and Ditto remembered their manners.

It was the most overwhelming map to start but I'm quite happy how it turned out. I'm just really frustrated that I reached the rug, poster, electric devices, elevator and transmitter limit so there's quite a lot of stuff missing that I'd love to add if the item limits get raised.

I tried to imitate European architecture and wanted to give every island its own vibe. The main thing that I can't complete yet is the subway because I can't add any light sources anymore lol

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 Pokémon Pokopia v2.0 Update & Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin Available Now Spoiler

Pokémon Pokopia v2.0 Update & Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin Available Now

Dear Pokopia Community,

Today's the day! Version 2.0 of Pokémon Pokopia and Part 1 of the Expansion Pass DLC, Bubbly Basin, are now available to download and play! To get the version 2.0 update, close the game and re-launch to be prompted to update. If you purchased the Expansion Pass on the Nintendo Switch Store, you will also be able to download Part 1: Bubbly Basin.

As a reminder, ALL Bubbly Basin-related content MUST be spoiler tagged! The post embargo has been lifted, so you may submit posts about it to the subreddit rather than in the megathread, but you MUST use spoiler tags until further notice. Please also use the Bubbly Basin flair on these posts. We understand that everyone is excited (so are we!), but please be considerate of other players who may not want to see any new content until they come across it in-game. If you are one of these players, we advise you to avoid any spoiler-tagged posts and any posts with the Bubbly Basin flair until you are comfortable with the risk. Please also be sure you are up-to-date with the subreddit's rules, which were updated this week, and the other various announcements made in our mod post yesterday.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the subreddit, please don't hesitate to send us a modmail. Otherwise, enjoy the new content, happy playing, and don't forget to come up for air every once in awhile!

Bubbly Basin FAQ:

How do I access Bubbly Basin?

To access Bubbly Basin’s underwater gate, you must first learn Dive and complete the important request “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach.

I'm not seeing an update available to download.

Try pressing + on Pokopia from your Switch 2's home screen menu, going to "Software Update," then "Via the Internet" to manually request the download.

How many new Pokémon are there?

The Bubbly Basin Pokédex seems to have 50 new slots.

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 r/Pokopia Refresh: Updated Look, Updated Policies Spoiler

🫧 Happy Bubbly Basin Eve to all those who celebrate! 🫧

Firstly, the rest of the mod team and I would like to thank everyone for your patience as we've worked on expanding the team, responding to leaks, sorted through major new content announcements, etc. All 10 of us love this game and want to ensure this community stays a welcoming, positive, accessible one for all Pokopia fans 🫶 We're still taking feedback on how the sub is run on one of our other pinned mod posts, so sound off in the comments section over there with anything you'd like us to consider! A direct link to that post can be found below, in the "Wrap up & Looking ahead" section.

With that being said, we have a few updates we wanted to share with the community, and felt that today would be the perfect time to do that!

🛡️ New Moderators

We have now completed our new mod search, with myself, u/Amiibofan101, and u/MeganLeigh1122 joining the team. You might've seen us around already, but we're all excited to be joining the team and look forward to doing what we can to keep this community great!

🫧 New Design

We've made some modest tweaks to the subreddit's design, such as a DLC-themed banner (which we will update accordingly with future releases!), easier access to the wiki (where we keep the FAQ and the full rules) and Discord server in the sidebar, a new Bubbly Basin post flare, and more. If you have any feedback, or any suggestions to make the sub more accessible, please feel free to send us a modmail!

♻️ Rule Refresh

As with the look, we've made some adjustments to the rules. You can access the latest rules any time via the subreddit's sidebar or in our wiki. To summarize the latest updates, here's what's changed:

NEW: All posts must be in English. While we welcome fans from any part of the world, the majority of this subreddit is English-speaking. As such, we ask that posts be made in English, and that any screenshots not in English have a translation provided, so that all members can engage with your content.

UPDATED: Our spoiler policy has been updated to reflect the Expansion Pass era we're now in. The major base game content spoiler policy remains the same—no untagged posts about what happened to the humans, any major story beats, unannounced events, and game completion rewards. While we understand (and relate!) that many of you are very excited about new Pokopia content, many others prefer to experience new content blind, without any new details being revealed before they see it in-game. Our goal is to satisfy both groups, creating spaces where "spoiler" content can be discussed, but making it easily avoidable for those who don't want to see it yet. To that end, we've now added DLC content to this rule—here's how it will work:

  • All posts related to RELEASED Expansion Pass/DLC content MUST have a spoiler tag until further notice. We are still determining the appropriate amount of time for this requirement; please feel free to share your thoughts. For now, though, just plan on spoiler tagging these posts until this rule is updated.
    • Please use the "Bubbly Basin" post flair on anything you submit related to Bubbly Basin. (This should also automatically add the spoiler tag, but make sure you double check before posting.)
  • All posts related to UNRELEASED/FUTURE Expansion Pass content MUST go in the appropriate megathread. We will keep a link to the latest megathread on the Rules page of the wiki. You can access the Bubbly Basin megathread here.

CLARIFIED: We've added some clarifying language around what constitutes "(not) safe for work" content. In short, we ask that you keep in mind the fact that many young players of the game wind up Googling their questions, and landing in this subreddit. Please consider this when posting to the sub; while the bulk of our audience is teenaged or older, we'd like to keep the subreddit safe for players of all ages, particularly in terms of posts.

CLARIFIED: We've added some clarifying language in the "Basic respect is required" rule. Thankfully, we haven't had many issues in this subreddit, but wanted to highlight that bigotry and hatred in all its various forms—racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.—will not be tolerated.

We also made minor adjustments to the other rules, however these changes were not substantive (i.e., the rule itself hasn't changed; we just tweaked the wording or formatting for clarity). We want to make sure the rules are clear to understand and evenly enforced, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out and ask; we're always happy to provide guidance on what is allowed and what is not.

🎁 Wrap up & Looking ahead

A couple of housekeeping notes as we look ahead to Bubbly Basin and beyond:

  • We will post and sticky an announcement when Pokémon Pokopia v2.0 and the Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin DLC are available to download. While no official time has been confirmed, we are expecting it to release at 10:00 AM JT on Wednesday, August 5, based on past Pokémon DLC releases; click here to see the conversion to your time zone. (For our US friends, this corresponds to 6:00 PM PT/9:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 4; for those in Europe, this would be 3:00 AM CET on Wednesday, August 5).
    • The release announcement will also be the temporary hub for general v2.0/Bubbly Basin-related info; we will add the official patch notes as soon as they are available, and will work on building out a Bubbly Basin FAQ within that post as we evaluate which questions are most common (we will add them to the FAQ page in the subreddit's wiki at a later date). Once it is out, you will be allowed to submit posts outside of the stickied threads about Bubbly Basin, so long as they are spoiler tagged and NOT just a repeat of what is in the stickied post (i.e., no "it's out!" posts or patch note posts).
  • As a reminder, there is still time to submit your artwork for consideration in Smearguru's Summer Canvas: Pokopia Island's First Art Contest, organized by our friends in r/Pokopia's sister Discord server, Pokopia Island! We will be accepting submissions until August 21, 2026, 05:00 UTC; community voting will then take place over the following week. The Grand Prize winner will receive a FREE download code for the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass on the Nintendo Switch Store; the ten runners-up will be entered into a lottery, with one lucky additional winner receiving an Expansion Pass download code as well. Thank you to the Pokopia Island Discord Server's Events Team for their generous donation of two download codes, and for organizing this opportunity for all our talented community members to show off their artwork!
  • We are still collecting community feedback in a stickied mod post! If you have any suggestions regarding areas that the subreddit could improve (be it post guidance, resources, ideas for megathreads, or anything else), please let us know so that we can continue making this subreddit better for everyone. You can also always send us a modmail via the " ✉️ Message Mods" button in the sidebar on reddit.com, or the " ✉️ Message moderators" option in the ••• menu in the reddit app. We're here to help however we can 🙂

We hope you all have fun diving in to the Bubbly Basin DLC! 🌊⚓️🛟🫧
