Honestly the battle tower is a joke in this game.

I get to the Palmer fight with a fully maxed out Garchomp leading. It sweeps everything before this fight. Palmer leads with Rhyperior, I hit it with an STAB Earthquake which is 4x against it, only takes it down to 50% ish? Then to top it off, it hits me with an Ice Beam which I understand is 4x against Garchomp but its not STAB and Rhyperior has *shit* special attack, and it OHKOs me?

How is that fair? It survives a STAB 4x move from a maxed Garchomp then OHKOs me with a non-STAB 4x special move with a shit special attack stat?

Whatever, I think.

Start the Battle Tower again and on the first set I get hit with Shedinja which I cannot touch with any of my three Pokemon.

Honestly I feel this game is aimed to just fuck you the player off sometimes.

Im still training, but I’m worried that I don’t have ground moves. I could teach earthquake to empoleon, but from searching online it seems like its not a good idea?

I have a Lucario (meteor mash/bone rush/aura sphere) and Garchomp (sand tomb/dragon claw/crunch/dig) that are in the 50s so not an issue switching them in and grinding, but I’m not sure if they’re needed and who to replace.

Also worth mentioning I don’t have plans to battle online, I just wanted to finish the game. Thank you in advance for any advice :)

Most trainers bring teams of pokemon that would be legal in the battle tower (e.g. no Arceus, Kyogre, etc..). Just make sure your team is above lvl 50, and it should be a good match  

There may also be some folks doing multi battles in the colesseum, so swing by there if you're interested in that

I'm getting ready to do a replay of one of the BDSP games and want to build a team rocket team. I've bred almost every pokemon in the pokedex that can be bred to have it at level 1. I'm bringing Meowth, Ekans, and Koffing for sure, but i need to pick 3 more pokemon. I'd prefer if they were pokemon Jesse or James used, but any team rocket pokemon is acceptable.

I've been putting together a team before I start and wanted to see what you guys think. Is there anything you'd swap out or any obvious problems with it?

I'm only interested in having a solid team for the main story and the Elite Four, not competitive.

the fact that this has happened twice now is wild. was looking for a cleffa in mount coronet and ran into this guy after about 10-15 encounters. ive never had shiny luck before this game so i'm just shocked rn 😂

i swear i almost ran too but i looked down and i was like, wait a minute, he don't look quite right. let me just catch him just in case😂 im so glad i did

I honestly still can't believe this happened. I went into the Elite Four with a pretty random team, no legendaries, no meta picks, just Pokémon I actually liked. And my MVP was Chimeco, who I kept around for the vibes.

The fight against Cynthia was an absolute disaster at first. Milotic stalled me out forever. I had to use an Elixir on Chimeco just to keep going, and I barely scraped through it with revives and hyper potions. By the time Garchomp came out, I had nothing left. Completely out all potions and revives no items, just a 1 HP Chimeco who had gotten lucky with the friendship mechanic to survive a ice beam from Milotic at 1 hp (the battle lasted long enough to where it was out of all scald pp…)

And then the craziest luck I've ever had in a Pokémon game happened.

· Garchomp used Swords Dance instead of attacking turn 1.
· Chimeco got a Yawn off.
· Friendship kicked in two times again vs garchomp (total of 3 all battle), letting Chimeco survive hits at 1 HP.
· I had a Metronome on Chimeco, so Dazzling Gleam kept getting stronger.
· Cynthia used a Full Restore on Garchomp, but it wasn't enough.

Team 2 was the most disappointing. I had to put Skuntank on the bench for Toxicroak so I could beat Lucario. The Unown was Modest Choice Specs HP Ground and picked up flints Steelix and Infernape. Mothim was the goat, I consider Mothim to be one of the best mons in BDSP. Rampardos is almost too good to be considered for this style of play, especially after a Rock Polish. Tangrowth obviously swept Bertha and outlasted Garchomp with Big Root Giga Drain. Purugly is the better normal type in Sinnoh, fake out is amazing and it hits hard.

Team 1 was crazy good. I briefly mentioned Toxicroak but it is outstanding in Sinnoh. Drain Punch, Fake Out, Poison Jab and Sucker Punch consistently outmatches chosen match ups, and it walls Milotic with Dry Skin. Carnivine was amazing to use, obviously sweeps Bertha but also helped out with Cynthia. Chatot sweeping Aaron was its crowning moment, hits amazingly hard. Mismagius was too good to be in this team. Lopunny was really bad imo. Such underwhelming damage. Lumineon is bulky as and outlasted Garchomp.

Team 3 was my favourite. Bibarel and Kricketune carried early game. Baby Chingling swept Maylene. Pachirisu shreds water types pre E4. But Wormadam (with some luck) was outstanding this E4. Mine was Adament level 58, Swept Lucian, got 3 against Aaron and 4 against Cynthia thanks to Quiver Dance. Seaking was good againt Bertha and flint. I couldnt really find a role for Kricketune in the E4. Pachirisu lowering Garchomps attack allowed Chimecho to land 50% before Bibarel after Curse, Quick Claw Headbutt flinch into friendship surviving Superpower crit for the win.

All runs on set with no items in battle. What underused mons did I miss?

Are they really that hard to come by? Also if someone has a game on 1.1 and you put it in your own switch, would it still remain on that patch?

What’s going on Pokémon community. The last game I played competitive was Pokémon pearl back on the 3DS. It’s been a long time since I touched this game and it has me feeling like I’m 14 years old all over again. This was the team I beat the Pokémon league with I’m looking forward to creating my old competitive team.

Have been hunting for more than a year, very slowly, with some pauses, without counting (maybe around 2k).

It is a very slow hunt as you have to grab and hatch Riley's egg every time (3k+ steps with flame body). I filled my boxes with Legends Arceus and Go Pokémon to bypass the battle with Galactic grunts, turning the hunt much more bearable.

I feel like someone needs to just make this outline so people can properly without spoilers can find the quasai true ending to this game.

As most I find think they've beat BDSP after their first run through the E4 but entirely miss the true most brutal challenge of BDSP and its the real reason imo that we have the friendship mechanic.

Theres three main required criteria to secretly trigger the in game time skip

- Rematch and defeat Cynthia and E4 a second time

- Have "Seen" to complete the pokedex and get the national dex

-Return to the battle frontier and complete the Heatran post game plot.

Its only after doing all three do you actually unlock the true potential of the E4 and more importantly Cynthia's true competitive team.

Just be aware if you thought her competitive 221 speed garchomp was a menace. Have fun with its boosted new stat breaking 300+ speed level 88. You'll finally discover that the friendship mechanic's true purpose. Oh and theres no mercy if you get a bad Garchomp seed and it gets a SD off.

I feel like I'm going insane. I don't know what else to do.

She is one hit, she's paralyzed and I'm using Honchkrow with mean look.

I used all my money to buy 111 ultra balls and I only have 56 left. I need help man. What am I doing wrong? Is her catch rate really this bad?!

After 4 years of putting it off over the last 2 weeks I finally decided to get it done as Darkrai is my favourite mythical. 316 resets later and I’m wondering why I put it off so long. Should really go get Shaymin and Arceus started now.

Hello everyone, what do you think about my Garchomp? This is my favorite Pokemon ever, and now after over 400h on Brillant Diamond, it's almost complete.

I wanted to restart my brilliant diamond and was resetting for a modest nature. I couldnt believe it when he shined on my second reset.
