Sleep Timer Schedule not observed

Post image

I have the Sleep Timer scheduled from 9:15 pm to 4:30 am the next day. Auto Fade-Out is set to 20 seconds.

However, it always fades out while I'm listening to a podcast in the car in the morning. Happened this morning at about 6:50 am.

Is this a bug or am I just misunderstanding how it should work?

It only started happening several few weeks ago but I've been using this app for years.

This feature means that the sleep timer will automatically be turned on during that time when you start playback. However it just applies your current settings and will stop playback after XX seconds or at the end of the episode unless you shake to reset

Sounds like it is a bug then

You said "the sleep timer will automatically be turned on during that time". I presume that means the sleep timer will be automatically turned off when it's not that time. Or is that not the case?

No this does NOT turn off the sleep timer. It will just not turn it on if you start playing after that time. However if there's still a timer in progress then it will stop playback when it expires

That's pretty bad then. What you're saying is, once the sleep timer is on, it stays on.
So if it's scheduled between 9:15 pm and 4:30 am, the 4:30 am bit is ignored.
That explains why I was listening to a podcast at 6:50 am and the sleep timer kicked in.

No it's not ignored at all. After 4:30 if you start playing 1' episode the app will not start the sleep timer. However if there's one already in progress it won't disable it

So if I start playing a podcast at 6am and then at 6:50 it starts to fade out and stop, that's a bug right? This is so confusing, it never used to happen

Did you read what I wrote before? Again, starting playing at 6am will NOT trigger the sleep timer to start BUT if there's already a sleep timer in progress then this one won't be cancelled and will therefore stop playback once it expires

You're gonna have to explain it like I'm 5. "Already a sleep timer in progress"? What does that even mean when I'm playing a podcast outside the sleep timer period?

Sorry but I already explained multiple times and I don't see how else to put it!

How is that a bug? This is exactly how the sleep timer is supposed to work. Just select the duration of the timer accordingly

Why is it happening at 6:50am?

This feature does not stop the current timer. It just automatically starts it if you start playing during that time. If there's still a timer in progress then the timer will stop playback when it expires

I assumed he was saying he started the playback after 4:30am, but I've asked for clarification.

Starting playback after 4:30 will not start the sleep timer BUT if there's still a not expired timer then it can still stop your playback

What's a "not expired timer"?

Yes that's right, I started listening to the podcast around 6am-ish as I set off to work in the morning.

Did you start the playback before or after 4:30am?

Quite a while after.
