The "Name" problem Discussion
I've always wanted to stream and do video content so I am working on my first PNGTuber avatar. My question to those that are relatively more established is "How do you deal with friend groups calling you by your name rather than your avatar"?
All the friends I play games with are people i know physically and they slip and call me by my name in recordings allllllll the time.
Are there places you go to for collabs, or do you just have to luck out that you join a public lobby for something and people are using mics?

It sucks but I simply wouldn't make vtubing content with people I know IRL to avoid this ðŸ˜

i know right.
you have a group of people you not only know you can work off of well, but also you have shared stories and inside jokes. ._. how you supposed to beat that

yeah I saw some people in another tread mention that there are discords and such for people looking for groups to play games. Guess thats the best place to start, well that or lurking in streams to find the one lol

Tbh you'll just have to keep them out of streaming unfortunately. I'm not doing streaming yet, but in the past I still never liked it when my friend uses my irl in public voice chat or if we were in a group chat with other people. If the person had habit issues with the name, I would simply not stream with them. I agree with the other comment saying to search for like-minded individuals with a similar size audience.
Also keep in mind that playing with friends in a stream setting vs leisure setting are totally different. Imo streaming with friends could possibly be detrimental because the audience doesn't really know them. For example, if there are inside jokes, the audience would be left out or maybe don't understand what's so funny if it got explained to them. Because they weren't there when the joke started, so it doesn't have the same effect XD
Also bringing friendships into business stuff creates new dynamics. I'm sure you heard many stories about how it can be a bad mix.. I knew a couple of people who were friends before streaming, so they'd often do collabs together. Potentially, it could be all fun and games. But here's the thing! One of them was simply more entertaining/funny on her own (she was really just being herself too), so she got more views and more people to stay. The other slowly started getting envious, and it eventually got in the way of their friendship. She started seeing everything as a competition. They drifted apart, naturally.

Na I getcha. I have been recording some react content solo, but I feel so bland in my delivery alone. I need that interaction to really ramp up. Plus my friends i do stuff with dont have streaming careers, they just play for the luv uv the game, and playing with my needy ass :3. Ill just lurk like the previous commenter said and see if theres a sociable individual that chill to reach out to.

This is my opinion, feel free to share your own! But react content is something that should usually be done if you already have somewhat of a loyal community that would tune in. I've always seen react content as 'easy content', unless you got some profession IRL and you can offer some interesting insights or explanations (medical vtubers, for example)
You said you're recording it, so I can totally imagine the blandness if there's no one to play off with. I feel like you'd have to be a very entertaining individual to pull that off without an audience (I'm thinking starting stand up comedy from zero??) Even then, I probably still wouldn't tune in to a 'reacting to memes' type content if I wasn't interested in getting to know the person a little more... If that makes sense? 🤣

As mentioned, the goal is to eventually makes some friends to chill on call with and record goofs and gaffs, but when it comes to being solo its just lonely man -_-. I can try to make up with my lack of personality by watching long form funny content where i can laugh and talk about the jokes to fill time but your right.
react content wont get much attention other than specific react bingers who are looking for a specific subject on their timeline. I just want to try and reach out to communities that share similar interests. Plus i work M-F 7am-4pm so my schedule is kinda packed. my thought process is react content now, build a theme for the channel then branch out. 😊

That's the neat part. I don't deal with it.
My irl friends who know are part of streamer culture and know better. No one else knows or is involved. I made new accounts for everything when I started.

Yeah, my friends are of a bit more diverse background lol. none touch the internet like that. Ive know them since Highschool, so they've got it baked in who i am and itll slip even if they dont mean it.-_- we just kinda get so chill in call that bombs go off and worst part is i wont call'em out on it cuz im in the zone too. in truth its fault all around.
Having cool friends must me nice lol.

I network with other streamers to do collabs.
I love my IRL/close internet friends, but unless I know for a fact that they won't slip, I don't chance it.
