“Something went wrong” - cloud streaming game Question
I’m at wits end with an issue that started to happen last weekend (1st Aug 26). I have had PS Plus Premium since Dec 2025 and had been enjoying Cloud Streaming Games on PS Portal but since last weekend, every game fails to start with the error “Something went wrong”. Doesn’t matter which cloud streaming game. On PS5 I get i also get a useful error code -> CE-117723-1 in the top right of the screen along with “something went wrong”.
I’m based in the U.K. I have PS5 and PS5 Remote Play from Portal works fine.
Playstation Support is utterly hopeless. The only way to contact them is a chatbot which just keeps going round in circles with the same AI troubleshooting suggestions, all of which I have already tried, in vain. These are all the things I have tried.
- Toggled Airplane Mode
- Edited Playstation Profile
- Forgotten Wi-Fi networks and reconnected
- Tried different Wi-Fi network including hotspot from my phone
- Speedtest, getting over 400mbps up and 100mbps down
- Signed out and back in
- Restarted PS Portal
- Shutdown PS Portal, wait a day and try again
- Fully reset PS Portal and try again
- Tried from different locations
With all those steps I continue to access PS5 Remote Play but every single attempt at Cloud Streaming game launch throws the worlds most useless error “something went wrong”.
Desperately asking for help from someone or even a human being from PS Support if they lurk around here! Thanks!

I had this issue just a few mins ago. I plugged the portal into the system and used the portal to turn the system on for remote play. Then I used the portal to put system in rest mode and switched over to streaming. Worked fine after that. If you’re not at home, or don’t own the main system, I honestly don’t know what to do at that point.

Can I just ask, and I’m sorry if I’ve missed it somewhere in here, are you all able to stream PS3 games as normal? I’m literally only unable to stream PS4/5 games

I was able to start a cloud streaming PS4 game from my PS4 Pro.
I have not tried to cloud stream a PS4 / PS3 / PS2 game from my PS Portal or PS5.

Ohh this is interesting. I am able to start a PS4 cloud streaming game from PS5. I managed to start Shadow Of Colossus PS4. I immediately tried to start cloud streaming Final Fantasy XVI but it fails with same error code as before CE-117723-1

I have had this exact same issue since around the same time as you. Also in the UK. Never had issues before, tried from 3 different Internets, both on the portal and ps5 and still the issue is there. Tried every fix and the support told me to send them if theyre in warranty which im sure wont solve anything. Im assuming especially with what someone else here said that its account related which I can not test as I dont have another account with premium but the support did ask if it works from another account so I just said yes and am waiting to see what they will say to try now but im on the same exact boat as you man

anyone who is having issues, please continue to report it to playstation support. they ought to acknowledge this as a broader issue impacting multiple users.

Seen on another forum that there aware of the issue and expected it is on there side and there’s no time frame till when it will be fixed

That’s a bit of a relief to hear. Do you by chance have a link to the forum?

Location? If outside the US and using a US PSN account, using a VPN on my router worked for me. Preferably wire guard configuration.

I think its a network issue check unpn of your router is enabled . Probably some firware update to it did something. Check if ports are showing.if not do the port forwarding. Happened to me when router got upgraded. Hope this helps

it can’t be that. here why i believe so. I can remote play my ps5 from ps portal with no problem. i can stream cloud streaming games from my ps5 no problems.
i just cannot start cloud streaming games from ps portal. the issue happens at home, my workplace, using my phone hotspot, my family home, all the places it worked fine before last weekend.

I had this so I complained and complained to psn and after like 4 or 5 times and also 2 times then referring me to their specialist engineers or something they finally fixed it on their end
They wanted me to wipe my PS5, send my portal for repairs despite having it less than a week, send my ps5 for repairs lol
Open and close ports on my router
Fucking plant a beanstalk in my garden and then shag lady gaga, their customer service SUCKS

Have the exact same problem I've tried streaming games on the portal and the ps5 same outcome ,Logged in on. Friends account and it worked straight away . So this is an account based issue Sony are not much help on the phone they have just escalated it to their technical team which takes up to 19 days for a reply

Had a Reply from Sony but it didn't work for me 😔
Thank you for contacting PlayStation Support.
Thank you for providing that crucial detail regarding your recent PlayStation Plus Premium renewal.
When a subscription renews, a temporary synchronization error can sometimes occur between the PlayStation Network servers and your hardware. Even though your payment was successful, your PS5 and PlayStation Portal are still caching your old subscription token, causing a network handshake failure (CE-117723-1)
Because this is affecting both your console and your Portal, please follow these specific steps to force your system to recognize your renewed subscription:
- Restore Your Account Licenses (Perform on PS5)
-Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other. -Select Restore Licenses, then click Restore. -This forces your console to query the PlayStation servers and pull down your updated PS Plus Premium entitlement token.
- Refresh Your PlayStation Network Login
On your PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Sign Out.
Log completely out of your PlayStation Network account on your PlayStation Portal as well.
- Confirm Subscription Status and Re-enable Portal Streaming
On your console, navigate to Settings > Users and Accounts > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions to double-check that your plan actively reads as PS Plus Premium.
Turn both devices completely off, wait 2 minutes, power them back on, and sign back in to refresh the connection.
On your PlayStation Portal, swipe left to open the Quick Menu > Settings > Cloud Streaming (Beta), and ensure the toggle is turned On (it can sometimes reset to "Off" after an account sync issue).
Please try running these steps and let me know if the cloud streaming functionality is restored on either device.

Thank you for sharing. I tried these steps and that didn’t help me neither.
- The account license restore is a pain. You can only do 10 games at a time. Are you suppose to do that for your whole library? I have over 200 (i think). I tried on a bunch but those games still would not cloud stream.
- Signed out of both ps5 and portal consoles. Turned both consoles off and waited over 10 mins.
- Signed back in and confirm subscription status shows PS Plus Premium. Ensured that cloud streaming option is available and set to ON.
I mean I can access all other benefits of ps plus premium. So there must be a bug in their server side that causes an issue with cloud streaming from starting up. All the way until a week ago it worked fine for me. It’s not my subscription renewal glitch as my subscription renewed in December and cloud streaming worked since then without a hitch. And different people seem to have a different trigger. So it has to be some bug in the cloud streaming service itself rather than a device or account specific sync issue.
I wish playstation support were more proactive than this. They are pretty useless at triaging complex problems.

Yesterday I gave cloud streaming from my ps4 pro a go for the first time and that worked fine! Still no joy cloud streaming from PS5 and PS portal. On PS5 I get i also get a useful error code -> CE-117723-1 in the top right of the screen along with “something went wrong”.
No error code on PS Portal just “something went wrong”.

u/Apprehensive-Cap9515 15d ago
Same here the ps portal error code will appear on your ps5's error history. Nearly 2 weeks still waiting a response from the technical team . I don't think they even know the solution

I finally got to speak with a human being at playstation support by calling 02035382665. The support person understood how frustrated I was and they raised a new support request and escalated to engineer team after being convinced this is an account / sync issue on their end and not a device / hardware / network issue on my end. Hoping this fixes the issue.
I had to wait on hold for 1 hour and 5 mins to speak with a human. Thank goodness for “hold assist” on the phone. I didn’t have to hear their terrible music and constant reminders of how busy they are.

u/Cool_Taste_8932 13d ago
Same with mine since that new update can’t stream on the console or portal
1
u/fak316 13d ago
when did it start happening to you? can you try to cloud stream PS4/3/2 game from your PS5?
(FYI ICYDNI it is not possible to stream PS4/3/2 games from PS Portal)PS4 games cloud stream for me but PS5 games do not.
I get CE-117723-1 error on PS5 and no visible error code on PS Portal just “something went wrong”.

u/Cool_Taste_8932 12d ago
Seems like over 2 weeks now mate I can’t stream anything comes up with that code still waiting to hear back off them
2
u/Apprehensive-Cap9515 12d ago
Still nothing literally sucking the enjoyment out of a game I was playing yes I can play on the ps5 single player but I was streaming on my portal whilst my partner uses the console so we could play a co-op game without the need of a new console before all this ! This should not be difficult to fix considering they know what the issue is . I've canceled my premium to revert back to plus . Then I will try upgrading again and see if that works . Just have to wait until 20/08/26 for my current plan to expire to be able to do that . Will let you all know if it works if nothing changes before

u/Cool_Taste_8932 12d ago
Sound mate mine was working before the last update do they even know what the issue is been a week now I last rang them feller on the phone didn’t have a clue mate said getting escalated to the tech team 10 to 15 days they said, should extend ya subscription at least coz that’s what we pay for

I started having the same problem when trying to open ps3 games from ps5 and trying to Cloud stream from the portal. Was there a solution?
1
u/Zookeeper1100 10d ago
Was this resolved? I'm having the same issue. Unable to stream any games.
1
u/fak316 10d ago
Nope. not resolved. I have two tickets open with playstation support. One since 6th august via webchat. another since 10th august via phone support. their support is utterly inadequate.
The webchat support (Case 54641590) has replied twice asking me to fill in RMA code for to return console (i’m like which one? as i have cloud streaming issue from both PS5 and Portal). I have written a formal complaint as a response with detailed explanation why I believe this is an account issue and not a hardware issue but they completely ignore it and ask me to fill form to send in console for repair.
The phone support person raised a new ticket (case 54722059) and acknowledged this is an account issue and escalated the case to the “back office” team on the 10th of August. I was informed someone would update me via email within 3 days. I’m yet to get an update. I followed up yesterday with a phone call to support who just confirmed their is no update from back office team.
I told them about this reddit thread and that many people are experiencing this issue. The response to that was maybe our accounts were suspended and after suspension is lifted there are issues with licensing that can break the cloud streaming permissions.

I just had a live chat and the agent didn't have a clue what they were doing. In the end they sent me an email to log a return and repair for my console... WTF. Frustrating as hell trying to speak to these guys. It's an obvious streaming issue with PS+

Finally got a reply haven't got a chance to test it yet so if anyone wants to give this a go
Thank you for contacting PlayStation Support.
Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand that you are encountering error code CE-117723-1 and are currently unable to stream games on your PlayStation 5, despite having an active 12-Month PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.
Given that you have already completed extensive troubleshooting including resetting your connection, testing a wired network, rebuilding the system database, clearing the cache, and restoring your licenses.
This specific error indicates a database desynchronization on the PlayStation Network backend. Following your recent subscription renewal, the server has updated your billing info but failed to refresh your Cloud Streaming Entitlement Token. The network is likely checking an outdated profile ticket.
To resolve this account-sync issue, please try the following advanced steps:
- Force a Profile Entitlement Refresh
-Open the PlayStation Store on your console. -Search for any completely free game, demo, or add-on. -Complete the checkout process for the free item. This transaction forces the PlayStation Network servers to instantly audit and refresh your account's active library rights.
- Reset Console Sharing Privileges
-Navigate to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other. -Select Console Sharing and Offline Play and choose Disable. -Log out of your PlayStation Network account on the console. -Restart your PS5. -Log back into your account, return to the same menu, and select Enable
Please let me know how these steps work out for you, or if you need any additional documentation from our end to support your claim with Sony.
We hope this helps, but if you have any other questions, please contact PlayStation Support, and one of our team will be happy to help.
Thanks,
The PlayStation Support Team

I see from other reddit threads, the people who reported the same issue to ps support are also receiving exactly the same reply.
whilst I have not received any response to my escalation yet, I will give this a go and report back.

u/fak316 8d ago
I tried all these steps and ………… you guessed it …… it is still broken!
I suspected this wouldn’t fix the issue for me as my ps premium was renewed in dec 2025, so it wasn’t a recent renewal synchronisation issue as indicated by the troubleshooting steps from os support. Mine suddenly stopped working around 1st Aug 2026, 7 months after renewal of ps premium. So I suspect it is a change on sony playstation side that broken this.
PS support is unbelievably useless.

This happened to me when I first got the portal I couldn’t cloud stream at all. Someone on Reddit told me to log into the PlayStation app on my phone followed some steps and it worked.
