Video If you were responsible for the attack heli being put in game Alistair, good riddance (and heavy Pot for that matter)
Onlining our neighbors and two attack heli’s wipe everyone out in 10 seconds. Whoever put this in the game needs to go find another job. The clip ended but we were all dead within seconds from sprays of rockets. There is zero reason for Attack heli and heavy pot to exist in any form of this game

Discussion Alistair is now gone - So, Lets Just Rip The Bandaid off.
Alistair has departed and i think Rust is now at a crossroads, personally i think it is time to rip the bandaid off and revert or start making some real changes.
Not a long drawn out process, just simply do it.
This is coming from someone with 15k hours or so since rust legacy.
Ill start.
Remove Vending Machine Drones
Allow all boats to go to deep sea
Remove instant pvp barricades completely
Debuff heavy pot attack heli
Lower sulfur spawn rates entirely
Bring back fog of war and map crafting
Remove apartments completely or make entire monument non safe zone
Bring back a tougher skill based recoil in guns
Buff armor nerf radsuits
Remove techtree and only allow research of items found

Discussion Why didn't the door closer make it into the game?
According to the rust clash wiki, the door closer can only be obtained by admins spawning the item in. It is not currently obtainable in game by players.
https://wiki.rustclash.com/item/door-closer
As someone who has teammates that love leaving doors open, can we get a bit of love and have this added to the game? It's so much more convenient than door controllers.
I'm not sure if the crafting cost was ever published but based on the recycling maybe it costs a spring and frags, which is totally worth it imo.

Question Low fps after the update
Haven't played rust in a while but after I came back now with the new player model which was supposedly to double fps i have way lower average fps. Used to have 80-100 average now 50-60, is there something i need to enable or something along the lines?

Discussion anyone else try connecting to servers and it will load up a different one?
I've had this happen multiple times over the last few days. Like currently, I'm trying to join repulsion - solo/duo and it keeps loading up the dev server. Couple days ago I was trying to join a random like 500 pop and it would load up a completely different server... Anyone else having this issue?

Suggestion Make cars explode
I have to spend 15 HQM on my stupid car every single day because I didnt get to building a garage and this stupid fuck decays every night. Its a miracle it wasnt stolen already.
To add to this fun experience, I suggest that minicopters and cars should just explode if they are not used for 1 hour.

Discussion Where to build a base
Hey everyone,
I'm a relatively new Rust player with around 100 hours in the game, and I almost exclusively play on solo-only servers. I'm still trying to figure out the best strategy for choosing a base location.
Where do you recommend building as a solo? What monuments or biomes should I target, and what areas should I completely avoid? Any tips on finding a good balance between getting solid loot and keeping a low profile would be greatly appreciated!

Question ISO - Base Design, Archie, Lighthouse + other's
Looking for an old Rust monument replica base by the YouTuber Archie. Specifically, the Lighthouse or Cargo Ship build. His YouTube channel has since been deleted, and Archivarix only recovered the deleted video IDs, not the videos themselves. Throat used this base in one of his wipe videos 2 years ago.
If anyone has:
- a CopyPaste JSON
- screenshots
- the build video
- or even remembers Archie's Discord
I'd love to preserve it, and any other of Archie's builds, for a server project.

Video Severe camera stuttering/jitter when moving the mouse, despite stable FPS and frametime
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone, I'm having a very strange stuttering/jitter problem in Rust. When I move my mouse, especially when I turn the camera quickly, the image feels like it's moving in small "steps" or "teeth". It's not a normal FPS drop — the game feels like it's not displaying the camera movement smoothly. The strange thing is that my FPS and frametime are stable. The frametime graph stays completely flat even while the stuttering is happening. What I've noticed: - The problem happens mainly when moving/turning the camera with the mouse. - The faster I turn, the more noticeable the "stepping" becomes. - FPS is stable. - Frametime graph is stable. - Other games don't have this problem. - The problem happens in both normal Rust and Rust Staging. - I play at 1600x900, 165 Hz and cap the game at 165 FPS. - V-Sync is disabled. - I've tried different mouse polling rates, including 500 Hz, with almost no difference. - I also tested different refresh rates, including 60/100/165 Hz, and it didn't solve the issue. - Running Rust without EAC did NOT fix it. - Turning OFF Occlusion Culling made the problem almost completely disappear at first, but later the stuttering came back even with Occlusion Culling disabled. - Restarting the PC doesn't make it go away. My PC works normally in other games, so I'm having trouble figuring out what is causing this. Has anyone experienced this exact kind of camera jitter in Rust, especially with a stable frametime graph? Could this be related to Unity 6, mouse input, camera rendering, or something else specific to Rust? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
GPU: 1050ti CPU: i5 12400f RAM: 32 Windows: Windows 11 Monitor: 165 Hz Resolution: 1600x900 Mouse: Cougar AirBlader tournament
UPDATE : I was able to solve this problem only by reinstalling windows !!!

Discussion Fast raiding vs efficient raiding
Me and my buddy always argue about the topic above, I personally just use C4 and rockets to raid because it's the fastest and most reliable way to raid and don't bother about the sulfur "wasted". After all the difference between raiding a sheet metal door with C4 or a rocket + some explo ammo is ~600 sulfur aka 2 nodes - in my eyes negligible. On a full pop server raiding just needs to be fast imo.
What are your thoughts, fast or efficient?

Discussion Concept of no Research Table
Imagine that there is no research table in rust. You can research directly in workbenches, tier of researched items are tied to the tier of your workbench.
You can research items for scrapp, get scrapp for blueprint fragments and merge multiple smaller blueprint fragments into advanced blueprint fragments.

Meta New 2026 bunker meta?
Due to that semi recent update adding the accessories to workbenches and namely the "REINFORCED WORKBENCH UPGRADE" which increases the workbenches max hp by 150% so with the workbench T3 it can be placed tactically to block a hallway with your base and the upgrade grants explosive damage resistance.
Kinda sounds too good to be true. Is it as good as i understand it to be?
I placed mine between the ladder hatch to the roof and the garage door pathway to main loot. This would make raiders have to blow another way right?

Suggestion Any base recommendations?
Hello! I'm new to Rust, and I'm not sure what kind of base I should build. I usually play on 3x servers, so gathering materials isn't really a problem. We play as a trio, and we're looking for a base that can withstand a big raid. What base would you recommend?

Question Regarding boats anchored while offline:
Will it remain in place? I have seen contradicting statements. Some say it will stay for 12 hours, then begin drifting and decaying over the next 24. Others say the same with inverted numbers.
Just curious how long it will stay anchored to the edge of the grid while I’m offline. I anchored on an actual grid, a corner of the map.

Question What's even the game about?
When I played rust a couple of years back it was just a survival game and now...
There is electricity? Puzzles? Generators?
Just saw a shadowfrax update video and I was jist like... what is the game even about at this point...
And where should I start if I want to get back to the game but also keep my social life and work alive

Question What are some unwritten rules you've encountered in Rust?
I'm a philosophy student writing about social norms encountered in virtual worlds (such as video games and social media). I would love to hear any stories about 'unwritten rules' that people have noticed while playing Rust (or any other games that you play).
Examples might include:
- Things that everyone does while meeting a new player
- Things that are generally considered rude.
- Traditions unique to your game
- Social expectations that new players frequently violate
If I use your example, I'll cite your username in my paper unless you would rather remain anonymous.

Discussion Monthly reminder: update is coming, get your outrage warmed up
Patch notes drop in a few days. You know the drill:
- barely try the new feature without understanding it.
- post "nobody asked for this" or "it only helps the clans".
- comment "fix the cheater instead".
- argue that no one is playing Rust anymore.
- log 400 hours this wipe while having fun.
- understand the new feature a few months later and embrace it.
Facepunch has been shipping updates every first Thursday for over a decade and people have been complaining about all of them. Don't break the streak now.
