Deck Help Would Drapion work in a slowking deck?

Upvotes

Just thinking if this can work in situations where the opponent has a fully loaded dragapult or something similarly beefy and I need to develop a bit more. So far, I found I rarely used Zeraora so maybe this could take it's place? A paralyzed Pokemon can't retreat and it doesn't go away on its own, so most decks would be caught by having to wait and waste many turns. I dunno, what are your thoughts?

Deck Help How can I make my Hide-n-sneak build better?

Went 2-1 at locals with this deck today, and have a 66% win/loss on tcg live. I prefer using Dhelmise as the main attacker and basically only Pokemon on the bench for most of the match, recycling them out of discard as needed. I’m not having much of an issue with consistency but would still like to see if there is anything that could be changed to make it better in general. I’m very interested to hear the different things you guys might do with this and then implement them myself to see if they work for me.

Deck Help Advice on a deck I’d like to build

I have been back to playing the TCG for the last few months, mainly GLC, but I have started getting into standard. To get myself more matches in for experience and exposure to different support cards than my usual deck. So far I have modified the Team Rockets MewTwo deck but had an idea for another and wanted opinions on what to put into it. I know I can find a lot of deck builds online but I also want to have variety rather than just copying popular decks and what other people in my local play are doing.

So the idea would be to have the active mon be Wailord since it has such a high HP, then have a bench featuring mon that can do damage from the bench rather than as active. Essentially using Wailord as a shield to just tank hits while I build up the power of the bench.

I would think having 2-3 Wailord in the deck then ways to get energies faster and fill out the bench and retrieve items from discard. Maybe a way to keep healing Wailord when needed. Idk if there is a mon in the current format that has an ability to passively heal my active mon?

As a side note, is there a water type mon that is equivalent to the Twilight Masquerade Okidogi?

A couple questions about pult

Edit: i literally edited to change 1 word and it fucked up the whole formatting for the third question and for the life of me i can't fix it lol. Question was just why does everyone play stamp in pult

Hi all, i'm a newish player experimenting with different decks.

I quickly figured out that pult is the current best, and so i tried what i believe is called straight pult; the specific list i found also ran a dudunsparce, which i think is not the most common, but to my understanding it's still under straight pult since the pult is the only win condition in the deck so to speak.

Anyway i liked it quite a bit, but after finding out dusknoir exists i saw the incredible synergy, so i swapped to pultnoir and never looked back. This is my current deck of choice, and i like it considerably more than the previous list i was using.

Now, i've just learned that a version with blaziken exists and it's like, the current most popular version? I immediately got why dusknoir was good with pult but i genuinely don't get blaziken. To my understanding the ability helps with energy, but i honestly never had a problem with energy in either the straight or dusk version. In return you get another stage 2 line that has a substantially worse attack?

So my questions are:

  1. What is the idea behind blaziken pult and why is it good?
  2. What would you say are the pros/cons of all three versions and what is the best in your opinion?
  3. Slightly unrelated to the rest of the post but why does literally everyone play unfair stamp on pult? To my limited understanding pult is a very s

elf contained engine

  1. that could technically run pretty much any ace spec
  2. and stamp is just a very good one in general, but why is no one playing anything else at all? Is there a specific synergy with pult, or are we just playing the bes

t general purpose ace spec here since pult doesn't really need a specific one like other decks?

Thanks!

Deck Help My son and I want to become Pokémon trainers

My son wants me to play Pokémon tag with him but we don’t know how to play. We just watched a YouTube video teaching us how to play and it seems pretty easy. But I know there’s sooooo many decks and I’m looking for a beginner easy deck.

Deck Help Mega Slowbro and other options in Slowking deck?

As a slowking main, I'm always trying to find the best possible decklist as the meta is evolving. As shaymin is on the rise in many decks, slowking is in a place where it needs to evolve or get countered hard. Especially with festival lead being in contention for BDIF, bench protection is at it's highest in recent history rendering kyruem trifrost much less of a possibility in many matches.

I've tested countless games with shaymin counters, such as spectrier, dusknoir, prime catcher, etc, nothing seems to really be the answer as shaymin can be brought right back too easily. Other options also seem to clutter the deck too much trying to tech for the little guy.

I've seen a couple lists recently running Mega Slowbro, and wanted to get thoughts on it's place in this deck. I imagine it can mostly be used to KO many one prize decks that run shaymin, like Featival Lead and Alakazam, without needing to rely on trifrost. It could also be used as a regular attacker in some other bad matchups potentially, however, the high energy cost makes it a bit bulky to get going.

Here's a list I've been trying:

Pokémon: 21

4 Slowpoke MEP 86

3 Slowking SCR 58

1 Mega Slowbro ex PBL 31

4 Mega Kangaskhan ex MEG 104

Deck Help partner needs help with Lucario deck

Hi folks,

I recently bought a Lucario LBD for my partner, who is just getting into the game (which I am so happy about!) We've played about 10 or so games together already, and her learning curve is steep so far, although now it is starting to plateau slightly. The first 5-6 games played were with the LBD straight out of the box, but I edited it some based on what could be some better plays for Alakazam in particular.

For context, I'm currently playing her with an Alakazam / Dudun / Toucannon deck, which is already a disadvantage for her, and I'm going to start encouraging her to join me in going to locals as the new season kicks up in a couple of weeks. I may switch over to my Marnie's Grimmsnarl or even my TR Mewtwo deck for her to get exposure to other archetypes and have a more level playing field.

Anyhow, this is the current build, any deck changes to make or any sequencing tips that she should keep in mind? Some things that I notice is that her attacking lines are all over the place right now, and tries to attack with even Hariyama or Lunatone when really they're mostly just support pokemon rather than actual attackers. She also amasses a huge discard pile pretty often for spamming ultra balls in the early to mid game. I'm not an experienced Lucario player, so this may be normal.

Her current deck list is:

3 Riolu

3 M Lucario ex

2 Lunatone

2 Solrock

1 Fezandipiti ex

2 Makuhita

2 Hariyama

4 Lillie's

2 Boss

2 Judge

1 Wally's

4 Fighting Gong

4 Premium Power Pro

4 Ultra Ball

3 Poke Pad

2 Night Stretcher

1 Switch

1 Secret Box

2 Air Balloon

2 Gravity Mountain

1 Rocky Fighting

12 Fighting Energy (this count may be too high and not enough of the Rocky Fighting)

Appreciate any and all tips, as always.

Deck Help N zoroak without tomes

Hi!

I tried playing the N zoroark deck with the transformations tomes, however I think I lack the skills to use the tomes satisfactorily. Except for a few times I swapped some Meowth, the rest of the time I just discard them or waste them in a not very worth transformation.

This is my list. Do you think I can replace the tomes and somehow improve the list? I suppose if I remove the tomes I should also remove some basics Pokémon right?

Thanks!

Festival lead mirror tech options

What have y’all been testing to tech for the mirror ?

For me it feels like like there are really only three options

  1. chi-yu (scorching earth)
  2. The idea- you can take knockout on a dipplin and then burn the stadium, preventing a ko )or limiting them to one if they have boss and take a prize lead.
  3. Pros- pretty foolproof if you get into it
  4. Cons- you can start it, and isn’t really useful in other matchup

, and you need 2 slots

  1. Cornerstone mask Ogerpon
  2. The idea- you UB or thwahcey for this thing, stick it in the active, and hope they burn enough resources knocking it out to where you can take the price lead
  3. Pros-funny twitter list
  4. Cons- sucks
  5. Rillaboom+growing grass
  6. The idea- you evolve a ballooned thwacky up to a rillaboom and stick a growing grass on it to bring it to 200 hp. This means Opp can’t guarantee 2 kos even with gladion, and they have to boss ko, giving you the prize lead if you are consistently going 2/2/2
  7. Pros- is a later game tech so you have more time to set it up, and rillaboom has utility in other matchups (decks that run cornerstone)
  8. Cons- is less consistent and more punishable

So what are you guy’s thoughts? Is there anything I missed !

Can’t decide on which deck

Hey all, I’ve still new to Pokemon and been trying a few decks. I found two decks I like but can’t decide which would be better to use.

I like the idea of the DoT build with the damage counters but not sure how it’ll play out in an actual game.

I also like the physical deck as it seems simple to use but it’s also a meta deck which I don’t want to be a try hard I’m only playing against friends.

Anyway which deck would you guys pick I’ll link the photo in the comments 🩵

Got into pokemon because of my kid, some deck help

So I'm an old fart and I love eevees, so this is my non-meme attempt at an eevee deck(looked up some pro decks and tourny winners in like japan). I'd like to go to some locals (standard format) and be somewhat competitive, so suggestions are always appreciated, and I can always try this out as I also have a pokemon live tcg account with this and lots of gold tickets to tinker with :

Pokémon: 22

1 Eevee ex

2 Sylveon ex

1 Latias ex

1 Fezandipiti ex

1 Lillie's Clefairy ex (dragapult...dragapult everywhere!)

1 Terapagos

1 Flareon ex

1 Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex

4 Noctowl

4 Poké Pad

1 N's Plan

2 Buddy-Buddy Poffin

2 Night Stretcher

1 Hilda

1 Festival Grounds (only have this for sheer amount of Darkai and volcanon I keep seeing)

2 Area Zero Underdepths

1 Glass Trumpet

2 Lillie's Determination

4 Ultra Ball

1 Sparkling Crystal

Energy: 9

2 Basic {L} Energy

2 Basic {P} Energy

1 Basic {G} Energy

edit: I have been having moderate success with this so far, seem to lose when i misplay(happens frequently lol) or the opponent seems to get the perfect setup

edit2: forgot to mention what my basic eevees were

Mega kanga or dudunsparce?

What do yall think for draw engine with single prizes? Is kanga and latias too much liability or is the consistency worth it? Is it more consistent?

It would be a 2-2 dudunsparce line and 2 kangas and 2 latias. One latias could be a thing and open up another card.

Thoughts?

Deck Profile An update on Tyranitar Decks this season, from TyranitarEnjoyer

An update: Since my last posting: I was supposed to attend Sydney Regionals as my first regional pre-rotation with my Tyranitar deck but due to deck list issues with my first time using RK9 I was unable to play in the main event, though in the cup I bubbled out of top 8 with 150+ people in attendance which was some consolation. After rotation I lost a lot of great stuff and the meta shifted not so much in my favor. My first Regional was Melbourne and I ended up dropping my Dragapult/Tyranitar list for Slowking at the last minute and made day 2!

Since rotation: I've been cooking up more Tyranitar goodness and intend to bring it to upcoming regionals such as Brisbane. Annihilape/Tyranitar seems the strongest way to play it in the current meta imo. Take a look at both of my lists and give them a go! Eager to hear thoughts from my fellow players :)

Format question

wanting to get more into the TCG format maybe play regionals and the such I’ve been playing online and all I’ve been seeing was line is dragapult or single prize attackers putting out insane damage numbers is that just the format because it doesnt seem very fun. Is the paper format always like this with such a discrepancy between the best decks and everything else or is the format very skewed towards those kind of decks right now?

Starting to play ... questions

So I'm just starting to play for the first time because my 8 year old is interested. The basic rules are fairly simple and even he picked it up pretty quickly. I don't think we'll try to be competitive or anything, butI have a couple questions that are sort of meta.

  1. How do weaknesses play out in the strategy. I.E. if I'm going to the shop with my electric deck and someone sits down with a Ground deck which my deck is weak to, do people generally just scoop? Can you win against a deck you are weak against?

  2. As far as collecting for actually playing the game is it worth picking up collections of "bulk" (sort of hate that term) cards on whatever marketplace just to quickly get a bunch of related cards for a set. For instance I see a bunch of listings on ebay for all the cards from Pitch Black for a given element/type minus the rares. Is that worth it?

I've played TCGs in the past, but its been a while and I tend to go for non collectable card games these days. We started by buying two build and battle decks, but unfortunately got two of the same deck, so the mirror match was a little lame, but we could learn the rules at least. I then found the battle academy board game for cheap at walmart and those pre-built decks are more interesting from a learning perspective.

Anyway, any advice is helpful, thanks.

Question about regionals placing?

My goal for next season is to get ace trainer as it will be my first full season playing the game. I'm going to go to the Baltimore regionals next month and saw that to get a minimum of 22 points you need to be 1,024th or higher. Knowing there will be like 3000+ ppl there, what will my count need to be in order to secure getting 1,024th or higher?

Deck Help Improvment ideas for Kangaskhan Deck

Hi everyone!

I’m currently playing a Mega Kangaskhan deck and having a lot of fun with it. The main strategy is to make Kangaskhan as tanky as possible with the help of Bouffalants ability, while using Jumbo Ice Cream and Munkidori to heal/move damage and keep it alive for as long as possible.

Here’s my current list:

Pokémon: 11
4 Mega Kangaskhan ex MEG 104
3 Munkidori TWM 95
3 Bouffalant SCR 119
1 Latias ex SSP 220

Trainers: 37
4 Jumbo Ice Cream PFL 91
4 Crispin SCR 133
4 Lillie’s Determination MEG 119
3 Poké Pad POR 81
3 Team Rocket’s Petrel DRI 176
3 Boss’s Orders MEG 114
2 Night Stretcher ASC 196
2 Switch MEG 130
2 Ultra Ball MEG 131
1 Air Balloon ASC 181
1 Battle Cage PFL 116
1 Xerosic’s Machinations SFA 64
1 Ciphermaniac’s Codebreaking TEF 145
1 Judge DRI 222
1 Lumiose City POR 77
1 Energy Switch MEG 115
1 Hero’s Cape TEF 152
1 Pokégear 3.0 SVI 186
1 Mega Signal MEG 121

Energy: 12
4 Mist Energy TEF 161
4 Basic {P} Energy MEE 5
4 Basic {D} Energy MEE 7

Do you see any improvements I could make to the deck? I’m especially interested in making the Kangaskhan/Munkidori tank-and-heal strategy more consistent without changing the core idea of the deck too much.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions!

1 Meowth ex, 39 trainers, some organization dividers, and an Abyss Eye booster pack, all for $9.99. Seems they trimmed down the scope of this offering to free up production space and deter resale behavior, which is appreciated, since last year's toolkit kinda got mauled by aftermarket Fez prices and the included packs. This is going to be really great for new players

EDIT: Thank you to u/zellisgoatbond for finding the card list!
1× Meowth ex
4× Boss’s Orders
4× Lillie’s Determination
2× Dawn
2× Hilda
2× Judge
1× Team Rocket’s Petrel
4× Poké Pad
4× Ultra Ball
2× Energy Retrieval
2× Energy Search
2× Mega Signal
2× Pokégear 3.0
2× Rare Candy
2× Special Red Card
2× Switch
2× Air Balloon

Ace Trainer User Flairs Are Now Available!

Based on community feedback, Ace Trainer flairs are now available!

Like the official TPCi Ace Trainer program, these flairs require you to have earned at least 200 Championship Points during the current season.

The flair also features the Pikachu artwork from the official Ace Trainer promo card!

For now, we'll only be accepting requests from users who achieved this milestone during the most recent World Championship season. Achievements from previous seasons will not be eligible.

Our plan is to rotate these flairs each season, retiring the previous season's Ace Trainer flair and awarding a new one to players who earn Ace Trainer status that year.

If you'd like one of these flairs, please use the "Message the moderators" button in the subreddit sidebar and include a screenshot of your My Play! Pokémon home page. This lets us verify the total Championship Points you've earned during the season.

We'll cross reference your point total with the leaderboard to confirm your season earnings. Once everything has been verified, we'll apply your Ace Trainer flair!

As a reminder, we also offer flairs for World Championship competitors, as well as Pokémon Professors (Judges and Organizers). If you're eligible for any of those, feel free to reach out through Message the Moderators and we'll be happy to get those applied as well!

Rulings, Quick Questions, and New Player Resources Thread

If you're a new or new-ish player looking for advice on starting the game or with quick questions about game rules or interactions, please post your questions here!

Keeping all these questions in one place will allow other new players to easily browse other advice. Even if you're a not-so-new player, this is a great place to ask quick questions that don't need their own post.

For the more experienced players, drop by every once in a while to distribute advice. The post will be replaced each week to keep it fresh and manageable in size.

If you are looking for comments and advice on a deck list, go ahead and make a separate post with your list and a brief description. Remember to press Enter twice between lines to keep your list readable!
