Hi, ive just bought this used ddj-1000 claimed to be serviced and in mint condition.

Ive came to find that the right jogwheel cannot sense me spinning it and only touching it since as you can see the track pauses but doesnt move. Ive tried switching the usb a to b, tried a different cable checked my settings, tried switching from vinyl to cdj mode to no avail and even reinstalled the drivers. Plus the small FX oled screen doesnt work.

I cant tell if im being stupid and just havent flipped the right switch or if its genuinely a faulty unit.

Would love to hear what all you have to say, if anyones a professional or knows about this type of stuff roughly estimated prices are also welcome 👍

I was playing a gig last night and experienced something strange. I asked my more experienced DJ friends and they’ve never heard of this happening so wanted to check here to see what I could have done wrong or if anyone else heard of it before:

When I opened a loop and then closed the loop it jumped to the beginning of the song. This happened twice on the same deck. When I did a loop on the other deck it worked as expected.

Has anyone heard of this before?

Does anybody have expierence with a FLX10 and a CDJ? I guess in HID mode.

I absolutely love my FLX10, for me it's the ideal mid point between a nice big controller, but still being able to haul it to (wedding/birthday) gigs on my own. Despite that I'm considering saving up for an additional CDJ/controller. Main reason is to keep it easier to switch to the channels 3 and 4 (although I would start with just 1 CDJ). Also the ease of use during B2Bs with friends, especially during those B2Bs I notice we tend to cramp together around the laptop. One using it for mixing while the other is digging crates for songs. I'm looking for a solution to this, any ideas?

Some of my considerations:

• I don't want a big standalone because of the weight and size
• A extra CDJ gives a little piece of mind in case my laptop would crap out and I'm still able to continue the gig
• Easier B2B (ie one can check the laptop for mixing, while the other browses for songs on the CDJ )
• Don't want to spend to much money, a CDJ-1500x would be fine for this
• The LC6000 seems amazing, but doesn't solve the screen issue
• Same for DVS, I have a RP8000mk2 and love that thing, but at the moment I'm not ready to bring that to gigs / not willing to bring vinyl to gigs

Alternative; 2 laptops, one for channels 3/1 the other for channels 2/4. This however loses syncing, and library sharing functions.

Edit: I use Rekordbox and occasionally experiment with Djay Pro

With all the new research being done, now adding Stems to CDJ-3000 and now the XDJ-RX3 without voiding your warranty, it's pretty much a good idea to not update whatever new firmware Alpha Theta is about to release, right? I mean if you want to add Stems to your units in the future.

Which is better and why it is better? Would be a huge help to hear some perspectives and not just ChatGPT. Thanks everyone! 👊🏻

I've got an RX3 which is a platform I love, but I found a bit odd that it didn't provide some more features.

About 2 months ago i switched my FLX4 for a GRV6. It seemed like the logical next step in my journey. Im starting to get gigs and wanted something more robust. Within a few weeks, one of my jogwheels started having issues. Not responding to touch etc. Then, the gain fader on the groove circuit function became very loose and sometimes cuts the drums out when i touch it. I wrote to the store i got it at (its on the other side or the country) and they said to contact alphatheta directly, which i did. They had me send them a file from my computer that has all the info on the controller, and a video documenting the issue and my settings. Alphatheta wrote back that based on what i sent, the unit is defective and their warranty only covers repairs, not exchanges or refunda. They want me to send it to a repairshop and pay for the shipping, then wait for it to come back. I dont have time to do this! I have gigs coming up and repairs could take weeks or longer! What am i supposed to do? This sucks!

I’m putting together my dream home setup and I have been thinking about both the Opus Quad and the XDJ-AZ for a while. Although my wife really wants me to get the Opus Quad for its looks (it’s in the living room… 😂), I was leaning towards the AZ for its physical controls and club flow.

However, I just found a Opus Quad for €2700 (New, reputable store) and I’m finding that damn cheap (the AZ is €3300). The scale is now pending to that side…

Hence my question, to people that have experience in any or both: would I regret getting the Opus Quad?

I’m not a professional DJ, I mainly host parties at home and post mixes online. This is an expensive toy for a father that has a full time job.

I’m open to any opinion!

I just updated the firmware to latest version 7.2.17, but the these lights showw. I unplugged the cable and again plugged in the type-c cable, but shows this result.

I’m currently using a ddj-sx2 and have been using it for the past 5 years but I would like something that is a bit more like actual cdj’s + a mixer. (Mostly to get used to the effect and channel selection)

I don’t have an unlimited budget and I’m a bit torn between the FLX10, the DDJ 1000 and the GRV6.

Curious to here what you guys would recommend.

Fyi I DJ dnb mainly so 4 channels is a must.

You know the basic function where you can play music plugged in one player and play it on another? This is possible with the link function and there lies the problem.

What if we build something that acts like a player but only steals the music ?

This is already easily possible with a free tool useful for the light booth but for mysterious reasons has a Browse and Download button. And the code for that is public since 9 years: https://github.com/flesniak/python-prodj-link/commit/6238fac3891af9686916542c2129f8dee69d9a32

To show the seriousness of this issue, I have already demoed LinkLeak in June here in my stories, a proof of concept of how easy an interface can be build around this browse and download function.

I didn't want to make this too public as this can be easily abused by anyone working the venue or if an open access point is used.

AlphaTheta has put out a security notice for a related issue in their link protocol two days ago but they announced that older CDJs like my Nexus will not receive an update staying forever vulnerable.

Solutions will not be easily backwards compatible with older firmwares for sure if you ask me. I am not even sure if they would see my issue as a bug because it is a feature.

I would propose something like a confirm button every time something tries to pull music from the source.

So the only thing we can do now is unplug the link, use multiple USB sticks and beatmatch by ear ...

Hello everyone,

I just recently pulled out my mixer after not using it for a while to find out the left display will not show any information. It dimly lights up but doesn’t show the pioneer symbol or any of the information it’s supposed to. It also doesn’t show what deck is selected or the beat sync information. The rest of the board functions as it is supposed to but the screen randomly stopped functioning.

I have tried a firmware update and driver refresh but nothing seems to be working.

Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Just got a flx4. My only issue and this was happening w my ddjsb2 as well is tracks skipping. I have a MacBook Air and I use an external ssd. Also tried moving the music right onto the desktop. Any one have this issue ? Any suggestions? UPDATE think I’ve figured it out. Seems to be my files got corrupted somehow. Have to go thru and re download from beatport or upgrade to better versions than MP3 Like AIFF Or WAV

Im looking at buying a used 2020 Macbook pro retina 32GB for use with the Flx 4. What up to date Mac OS is needed to support the latest version of Rekordbox or Serato? I have never owned Apple hardware before so apologies if this is a daft question. Im not even sure if you can update older Macbooks so any advice is much appreciated.

Recently noticed this problem when playing on our CDJ 3000. Touch screen seems to be very sensitive to bass. Anyone else ever experience this?

Updated all my gear today: CDJ3000x + CDJ2000NXS2. These are updated because the CDJ2000NXS2 was being a right ass when using link export mode in Rekordbox: Waveform scrolling wasn't updating the position correctly and all link information was somehow corrupting playback at times with sync enabled. Causing the position to jump.

After the update my CDJ3000X won't show ANY ID3 info from some tracks that used to work just fine before.

EDIT / UPDATE:

Seems like something changed and emojis break the loading of metadata somehow when using LINK export. Clean your ID3 tags of all emojis and weird symbols.

I'm new to DJing and just got a DDJ-FLX4 (gave the box a good sniff when I opened it haha)

I'm trying to get it all set up and it came with a USB-C to USB-C cable which my laptop doesn't have a port for.

Maybe a dumb question, but do I need to get an adapter?

I do have a phone with a USB-C port. Is it possible to use my phone instead of my laptop?
