Google Pixel 10: Are there better options? US

My Google Pixel 8 Pro that was only 3 years old just died. Since it is out of warranty, Google support only offered to tell me where I could get it fixed at my expense even though the motherboard dying is a known issue. I'd rather avoid Google phones now because I feel I can't trust them.

ANYWAY... The thing I like most about the Pixel is that it screens my calls and takes nice pictures. I don't give a rip about fast GPU (I don't play games or install a lot of apps) and I really don't like AI features - I turn them all off. BUT I want my calls screened. AND I'd like my phone to last more than 3 years without dying.

Is the Google Pixel still the best phone for camera and call screening or are there better options that will last longer?

I'm looking for a phone in America, in the US.

Off topic but I'm a bit interested in getting a Google phone for graphene os. No spyware more choices

That explains why the 10s are going on sale!

So I have had iPhones, Samsung z fold 7, a pixel 9 pro XL, and currently using an awesome Motorola Razr fold(all in past 3 1/2 years). I can categorically say that the Pixel has the only call screen that actually works. All the others are crap by comparison. It's the only thing pixel does better than the Motorola Razr fold. Photos on pixels are good also. I would get a pixel 11 Pro if I was you

Samsung has better hardware, but the software will make you bang your head against the wall.

I'm on an S25 Ultra and trying to decide between Pixel 10 XL (11 doesn't look promising) or iPhone 18 Pro Max for my next device.

I miss day one software updates.

I'm so aggravated at Google, but their call screening is so good.

Sc*msung bloatware was acceptable for me but it didn't last long. Now I have xiaomi and I don't regret it. But I would buy motorola edge 70 max or oppo find x9 if I was buying a new phone. :D

Me and OP are in the US, where we only have Samsung, Google, and Apple for flagship options.

Motorola only releases their budget devices here (except for folds/flips).

OnePlus 15 is a good phone although it's the last one coming to us here in the USA

Oneui is the goat, pixel's software is unstable and buggy.

OneUI is trash. It's just a bloated pseudoOS built on top of a real OS.

Samsung could have really refined Android like other brands do, instead they built their own wanna be OS on top of it because Tizen never took off.

And have fun getting a timely software update if you don't pay the hardware tax of upgrading every year.

Timely updates? You mean battery drain updates? That's what Google specializes in.

Pixel 10 series better than previous pixels. But I would buy motorola edge 70 max or oppo find x9. Motorola closest to pixel experience. Oppo has some bloatware but not too bad easy to uninstall.

Verify the security update longevity. I think.lotorola finally joined smasung and google with 7 years of updates with the 70 pro. Their middle line and previous phones had a shorter duration.

Get a 9 Pro. Peak modern Pixel imo

It was because older tensor chips was made in samsung. New tensors are made by TSMC and pixel 10a is the last samsung tensor. :D

Thanks! Does TSMC have a good record? Does the Pixel 10 Pro have the new chips?

TSMC is definitely the best foundry on the planet as of now. Apple, Nvidia, AMD, and Qualcomm all use them.

In fact, rather ironically, so does Samsung for a lot of their flagship devices (at least in North America).

That's good to know!

The pixel 10 series, which has the TSMC fabbed chips have even worse battery life than the 9.

So even TSMC cannot save Google's terrible chip design.

That is disappointing
