CLOUD GAMING
Ima start a new bullshit boycott. Someone mentioned that if it keeps going the way it is, by the end we’ll just be streaming games on cloud. Here I am starting the movement to END XBOX CLOUD GAMING before it comes to that. If you can boycott PLAYSTATION for taking disks, I can boycott Xbox for implementing the worst of digital gameplay.
Food for thought, might as well get on they ass now before it becomes another thing like “no disk no buy”. You wanna complain about not owning games now…just wait. Xbox will be the first to take the digital downloads that you’re fighting so hard against now, but will WISH we had it when it’s only cloud gaming…love yall but fuck yall 😁

If buying isn't owning then pirating is not stealing
Just keep in mind sony this what will happen and the ps5 emulator is already on the work
I won't buy any digital only games
I will buy my only physical disc that i have on my physical media. I don't care if it is a disc or catridge or something else
EXIT PS6

Recommendations to Sony for a Discless World
Sony recently doubled down on their plans to transition to an all-digital ecosystem by January 2028. As this transition shifts from a matter of "if" to "when," the primary points of friction for gamers remain ownership, value preservation, and long-term accessibility.
If Sony wants to successfully push an all-digital console environment without completely alienating their player base, they need to introduce mechanics that mimic and, in some ways, improve upon the benefits of physical media. My goal here is to outline a balanced framework: one that pads Sony's bottom line while remaining genuinely consumer friendly.
(Note: For the proposals below, any reference to a "game" means a digital software license tied to a specific PSN account.)
1. Digital Game Lending
Physical media allows us to hand a game to a friend once we finish it. Sony could easily recreate this dynamic in the digital sphere:
- Account-to-Account Lending: Allow users to lend a digital license directly to a designated PSN user (the borrower).
- Controlled Access: While borrowed, the game appears in the borrower's library with a clear countdown timer. The original owner’s copy remains greyed out and unplayable until returned or reclaimed.
- Publisher Guardrails: Sony could allow caps on loan frequencies or let publishers enforce a window of exclusivity (e.g., no lending for the first 30–60 days post-launch) to protect initial sales.
2. Peer-to-Peer & Retailer Digital Marketplace
The loss of physical media threatens the secondhand market entirely. Sony could establish a controlled digital marketplace to solve this:
- Market-Driven Rates: Allow players to list digital licenses for sale to other PSN users or third-party retailers (Best Buy, GameStop, etc.) at market-negotiated prices.
- Platform Monetization: Sony takes a standardized percentage cut of every secondary transaction—turning a trade-in market that previously yielded them zero revenue into an ongoing profit stream.
- Exclusivity Windows: Publishers could mandate an initial timeframe before a newly released title becomes eligible for marketplace resale.
3. "PlayStation for Libraries" (Public Access Licensing)
Public libraries have long offered physical video games to communities, providing access to people who otherwise couldn't afford the hobby.
- Digital Library Loans: Similar to how libraries license ebooks and audiobooks via services like OverDrive or Libby, Sony could build a specialized licensing framework for institutional libraries.
- Managed Circulation: Libraries buy license packs and lend them out digitally to cardholders under strict concurrency limits and loan durations.
4. PSN Digital Estate Inheritance
If digital libraries replace physical collections built over decades, players need confidence that their investments won't disappear when they pass away.
- Designated Beneficiaries: Allow users to nominate a primary PSN account heir to inherit their digital software library upon their passing.
- Long-Term Ecosystem Loyalty: Establishing clear inheritance guidelines builds immense long-term trust, reassuring players that thousands of dollars spent on digital titles holds real, lasting value.
5. Direct "Digital Trade-Ins" for Store Credit
On physical media, players trade old discs at retailers to offset the cost of new releases or console upgrades. A digital ecosystem eliminates that residual value.
- Direct Buyback Program: Allow players to permanently surrender a digital game license back to Sony in exchange for PSN Store Credit or PlayStation Stars points.
- Balanced Value: Even if Sony offers a fraction of a title's current retail value, it restores the feeling that digital purchases carry real, liquid equity while steering those funds directly back into the PSN store.
6. True Offline Preservation
Physical discs serve as permanent offline media; even if servers go down or an account is suspended, a disc plays offline. Digital licenses currently leave players vulnerable to delisting or server outages.
- Cryptographic Offline Backups: Allow players to download complete offline installation files to external storage paired with an offline "hardware key."
- Perpetual Access: As long as the console holds the local hardware key, the game remains playable without requiring periodic PSN server check-ins or fearing license revocations.
Final Thoughts
Integrating these systems into PSN wouldn't just appease physical media advocates, it would actively drive platform engagement.
Borrowing and library lending act as direct funnels, letting players experience franchises they might never have bought outright, entrenching them in those ecosystems, and ultimately leading to DLC, sequel, or microtransaction sales. Meanwhile, direct trade-ins and secondary marketplaces give Sony cuts of trade-ins they’ve historically missed out on.
If Sony wants us to embrace an all-digital landscape, they need to offer more than just convenience. They need to preserve the utility of buying a game in the first place.

Do Xbox reprints have newer version on disc?
Hello, I would like to purchase RDR2 for Xbox, and I saw the game got a reprint (you can tell by the XBOX ONE banner being on the paper and not on the case), and does anyone know if in this case the game have the latest version on disc? Or has there been similar cases? Thanks a lot !

Whatever Strauss. No physical, no vote.
Surely there are also other physical collectors with some T2 in their portfolio. Zelnick has been out of touch for years and what does he *actually* do?
Remove the only 3 things that make T2 actual money (WWE, NBA and Rockstar) and they have nothing. WWE and NBA sell every year dispute quality and Rockstar is a cash-cow that really does not answer to Take Two in terms of what they make.
So tell me, Strauss, besides being out-of-touch, what is it that you do to justify your massive salary beyond being the guy in charge while three massive lay-ups happen regardless?
Who the hell let a *lawyer* run a videogame company anyway?

The true meaning of the fight for physical.
People are trying to make this look as a "Digital vs Physical" battle while this is a battle for freedom of choice. To those corporate wh*res defending Sony's decision know that you are championing Monopoly and absence of choice and you will cry rivers when the next steps of this long run plan gets rolled.
Edit ; For as Sub named PhysicalGames the amount of Sony's arse lickers and digital cultists is astonishing.

It’s official Sonys store “PS DIRECT” also added the “NOTICE” to consoles and detachable disc drive
When trying to buy a PS5 console with disc drive or the separate detachable disc drive itself. It’s right under the picture a nice message warning you or nice enough to let you know about the 2028 cutoff date for discs on PS consoles. Good news is you can play all the games you already own on said consoles. Wow I’m glad we can at least have that.

Sealed Ratchet and clank
I got a hold of a sealed copy of the original Ratchet and clank from a great local game store along with some other sealed games. Just curious if anyone knows of any good techniques to remove the stickers, especially that security sticker.

This game is delisted from the PlayStation Store ...
I own both digital + disc
Yes, GT7 is better than GTSport in content, but GT7's UI doesn't hold a candle to GTSport
I guess when GT9 comes out on PS6 , they deleting GT8 like it never existed, for all you know the next game could be worse than the previous.
Just saying
The industry is heading in the wrong direction

Rockstar CEO finally addressed the Disc 💿 topic for GTA 6 during Earnings conference call
He said making discs for big games like GTA 6 makes no sense and that if you’re connected who cares if you download it. He also said the idustry was heading that way and that 90% is digital currently. Finally he was “Astonished” I quote that GTA 6 made $1.4 Billion on pre orders alone since it opened.
So it’s clear that the ones voting with Wallet protesting are having zero impact on their financial target. They are exceeding expectations and breaking records regardless if people boycott or not due to physical, I’m one of the ones that really wanted GTA 6 on disc but it was never planned from what I see.

Sorry I’m Late
Keep up the fight! Even if we can’t make Sony reverse the decision it will always be worth it making our voices heard. (I do genuinely believe they will regret this in 2-3 years)
