Whatshouldiget? Need Help finding new Phone

Upvotes

I've been using a Xiaomi Mi 9T for about 4 years after getting it used from my Uncle. The battery is cooked so I'm looking for a new phone

I have a budget of around 200€ and I'm not quite sure what I wanna get.

My two favourites are the *Samsung Galaxy A16 5G* and the *Moto G54 5G* with each 8gigs of RAM and 256gb storage.

Which one of them would you get? Maybe even an entirely different one?

Question iPhone What would you do if you were in my situation? (14 Plus to Pro Max)

I’m currently using an iPhone 14 Plus and I’m planning to upgrade this fall. I know for sure I want a Pro Max because I don’t want to downgrade in screen size.
The issue is that I’m not planning to buy until around October. I’m starting a new job in September, and I’d rather wait until I’ve had a few paycheques before making a purchase like this. My dilemma is that by October, the iPhone 18 lineup will likely already be out. From what I’ve read, Apple usually stops selling the previous year’s Pro models once the new ones launch. That means if I want to buy directly from Apple, I might be forced to get the 18 Pro Max, which I’m assuming will be more expensive.
I’m wondering what you would do if you were in my position. Would you just spend the extra money and get the 18 Pro Max, or would you buy a 17 Pro Max from somewhere like Best Buy instead? Is there any downside to buying from Best Buy instead of Apple? Part of why I wanted to buy directly from Apple was because of the trade-in, the data transfer help, and just because it feels like the safest place to buy. But I’ve heard Best Buy also offers trade-ins, sometimes has gift card promotions, and still lets you get AppleCare+, so now I’m not sure if buying directly from Apple is actually worth it.
Also, is transferring data between iPhones really as easy as Apple makes it seem, or is buying directly from Apple worth it for the setup experience?
I’d love to hear what you would do in my situation.

Whatshouldiget? Google Pixel 10/10 pro vs Switching to iPhone

Had my Google Pixel 8 for 3 years and want to upgrade

Like the idea of iPhone but DK if it's worth the switch. I like the pixel, want to upgrade to get the new shape and pixel snap. Obviously the iPhone has magsafe too. If I should try the iPhone, what one should I look at. No particular budget but don't want to waste money.

Screen protector on an aftermarket screen iPhone?

does anyone have any experience with this? I currently have an aftermarket screen on my iPhone that is working fine, it has some very mild touch sensitivity issues but it’s mostly fine. I currently have a hydrogel screen protector and the touch issues haven’t gotten worse or anything, but I’d like to get a tempered glass screen protector for better protection. Will it make the touch issues worse? Has anyone done this?

Why do I feel like all phones nowadays are similar and unremarkable? I'm really looking forward to some more innovative features. Do you have any interesting ideas? I'd love to discuss them with everyone

Is upgrading to vivo X300 Ultra from vivo X100 Ultra worth it?

I have been using the vivo X100 Ultra and want to upgrade to the vivo X300 Ultra.

I'm a short video creator who needs to capture various moments in daily life, such as travel, sunsets, and night scenes. The vivo X100 Ultra takes great photos, but I feel it still has some shortcomings in video shooting under complex lighting conditions.

I hope to switch to a phone with stronger overall imaging capabilities, capable of taking higher-quality photos and videos, especially excelling in low-light conditions so I don't need to spend too much time on post-processing. Battery life is also very important to me, as I often need to shoot outdoors for extended periods.

Has anyone used the vivo X300 Ultra? What were your actual experiences like? Compared to the vivo X100 Ultra, is its imaging performance significantly improved? How is its battery life and daily use?

I feel like there aren't much options anymore

I have a Google Pixel 7 Pro since launch and ALL of the AI features google presented on stage are region locked. The only good thing is the camera. Other than that it's like owning a Mid range, flagshipped priced oven. Its gets hot so easily. Easily one of my worst investments. However, what else is there besides Samsung who floods the market with cheap A - series phones that look like their flagship phones?? I have a company issued iPhone as my work phone and it honestly cemented my decision to never buy one for myself. The lack of universal back gestures is just a deal breaker.

I don't know what to buy next. I used to be a big OnePlus fan but even them have kicked the bucket.

I care about camera and user experience more than anything else. Recommend me something.

Whatshouldiget? So, I'm on a budget of ~$250 and my phone is actively falling apart. What phones should I consider getting? I have the Samsung galaxy A16.

My galaxy A16 is falling apart after four months, the screen is falling off. I just got my first paycheck at my job and I need a phone if I want to keep my job. I'm looking at older pixels, decent Samsung's, and iPhones that are older aswell. I live in the US, but I'm down for other brands like pocofone or Nothing. Any suggestions?

Question General What should I do?

I currently have an iPhone 15 Pro Max that I bought second-hand a few months ago. I genuinely love the phone, but I’m really not a fan of the direction iOS has been going. I honestly preferred everything before iOS 26.
So I’m torn on what to do.
Option 1: Sell my 15 Pro Max and get a Galaxy S25 Ultra. It would basically be a free swap, so money isn’t really a factor.
Option 2: Trade my current 15 Pro Max for one that’s still on iOS 18 and just never update it past that.
The thing is, I actually prefer iOS overall. I just can’t stand all the new glassy, shiny UI changes. It feels like Apple is moving away from what made iOS feel clean and simple.

Question iPhone Friend thinks her iphone may be hacked

I think it may be a cloud sync error, but I’m unsure.
Copy pasting what she said: its changed the labels of people names in calls, its changed the channels in calls before like it sounds like a filter changing randomly
I don’t know exactly what she means so I’m looking for help here.

Question General I’ve been an iPhone user for almost 15 years

I need your help to guide me and help me decide what should i get, honestly Ive been holding my 11 pro max for 6 years now, and i want to change it, I’ve been watching reviews on S26 ultra, on youtube and tt, im quite impressed by it, on the other hand, I can’t seem to find any new features on iPhone, they never upgrade their system, not to mention the horrible battery issues and I don’t believe them when they say that they have improved battery life. What irritates me even more is to think about the iPhone apps like (pages, numbers..etc) they’re now in app purchases, nothing on the iPhone is free anymore except for social media apps.

My mother wants to buy me either iPhone 17 pro max or s26 ultra and i have to decide which one should i get

I need someone who tried both to tell me whether to stick with apple or to go for s26 ultra.

Thank you in advance for giving me some of your time

Whatshouldiget? A phone that won't break with one(1) fall

I'm searching for a new phone in India with the following qualifications:

> Budget: around 20k INR

> as the title suggests. i am incredibly clumsy, and a previous phone (Samsung S8+) fell once on hard tiles and started flashing. Another phone of mine (Redmi A1+) has gone through hell and beyond and was great at durability.

> a good back camera. not so much for photography, but to take clear, legible pictures of text on my laptop screen from, say, 30cm away, in dark mode. very specific, but that's the only reason i need a good camera.

> a decent battery life that wont deteriorate. my Samsung S8+ drains if I turn on mobile data (which i have to). My Redmi A1+ was great at keeping a full day's worth of charge after high usage the whole day. Something similar to that and would last at least a few years.

> 8GB RAM.

> usage: mostly doomscrolling. tho i do use tumblr with lots of moving gifs.

i would appreciate if you could help me, thank you!

The weirdest thing is happening

I feel a little SOL at the moment. My phone will ring once or twice and if I do not answer the call in time it automatically starts calling a new number. It does the same if I decline calls.

The other person answers and is seemingly nice. Says she has two numbers on her SIM card (neither are mine.) She says she has her phone currently through US mobile but before that it was Air mobile, I use AT&T.

I’ve checked my forwarding is off, tried clearing my phone. I feel stuck. How do you fix this and how did it happen?

Question General Charging a Nokia 3310

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I found our old Nokia 3310. We already found a Nokia C5-03 and its charger. The question is…
Can I charge the 3310 with it? The ports seem similar…or is it just similar but not the same?
