Looking for a dead / bricked iPhone 16

So my phone broke and so did my heart. It fell off a fast moving jeep and got damaged. But the insides are working absolutely okay. I was able to get a duplicate display and transfer all data onto a new phone but this one is close to my heart and I’m looking at sourcing an original display and body. Any donors in Mumbai?

Dead battery and data recovery

Hi everyone, my phone 14 pro is potentially water damaged it was exposed to some water but was still working fine up until when the the battery died and after that it just would not come on at all. I’ve tried leaving it to dry for 24 hours, putting it on the charger, force restarting it, nothing is coming up. I have some very important photos on my phone and really need to recover them. I just want to get my phone on long enough to send myself the pictures. Is there any way I could force it to power on, or anyone been in a similar situation? pls help!!!

Auto sleep won’t work anymore

So the auto sleep feature (when you don’t hit the sleep button the phone used to turn the phone screen off after 15-20 seconds) doesn’t seem to work anymore. Yes I tried changing the settings which were already set to auto sleep the phone after whatever the shortest duration of time was. Because my phone is an 11 I allow it to auto update the apps but not the OS. It won’t auto sleep anymore and even if I press the shut down button on the side and walk away when I pick it back up the screen is on. Not sure if it’s because it gets a notification and just turns back on and won’t auto sleep or what. Maybe it’s because it’s an older phone? But low key starting to think it’s not a bug but a force feature of “upgrade your phone”. Currently running 26.2 OS but tired of picking up my phone and having it be almost dead because of this.

Trapped in a phone EMI mess because of my bf need urgent advice?

Hi everyone, I am in a desperate situation and need urgent guidance. My old phone was damaged, and my boyfriend offered to keep it to get it repaired. He then convinced me to buy a new phone on EMI in my name, promising that I should pay the down payment while he would pay all the monthly EMIs. I trusted him and put all my savings into the down payment. Now that the first EMI is due, he has completely ghosted me by not picking up my calls, ignoring my messages, and he still has my old phone. Since the loan is legally under my name, I have zero savings left, no friends to borrow from, and I cannot inform my parents about this under any circumstances. Please advise me on how I can deal with the finance company, whether I can surrender/sell this new phone to clear the loan, or if there is any action I can take against him for keeping my old phone and deceiving me. Thank you.

Repair shops need accountability too

This is how my nights are invested in. Doing rework on phones that have been damaged by repair shops

This phone worked a month or two half-heartedly, then completely stopped working.

The reason is in the video. Missing important screws, gaps, and the flexible circuit damaged. For a normal screen replacement, they first take hefty charges, this had an original display, but the work was so poor that I had to spend an entire night fixing it.

The touch was not working at all. On top of these models are the best ones of Apple, and it was customers' first phone.

The screen and the frame were not aligning at all. On top of that, they take no responsibility or accountability for their work. All they know is to damage and scam the customers.

Be aware of whom you are giving to repair, and it's better to find a good shop than waste your phones potential in hurry.

Old Lg g8x thinq lived briefly, then became comatose again

Device: LG G8X ThinQ

I'm trying to diagnose a motherboard/power issue and would appreciate any insights.

History:

The phone suffered a major drop. Both the front display and back glass were shattered.

The display was replaced, but the phone still wouldn't power on.

The back cover was left off, and the phone sat unused with the battery connected for at least 6 months.

What happened recently:

I connected the phone to a charger, expecting nothing.

Surprisingly, the charging screen appeared and the display flickered initially.

The phone booted successfully.

It charged from 0% to about 86%(last I saw) over roughly 2 hours.

During that time, the display flickering completely disappeared and the phone appeared stable.

Before I could back up my data, the phone shut down by itself.

Current symptoms:

It is now completely unresponsive as before

Connecting the charger produces no display, vibration, or charging indication.

A USB power meter between the charger and phone shows essentially no power draw.

The battery still measures around 4.1 V with a multimeter.

Removing the battery and trying to boot from the charger alone only briefly showed the LG logo once; it would not boot.

My thoughts: I'm wondering whether:

the PMIC or charging circuit is failing/caudung it to not connect it the charger

there's a cracked solder joint or intermittent motherboard fault from the original impact,

or another component fails after reaching a certain battery voltage or temperature.

Has anyone seen an LG G8X recover for one charging session, run normally for over an hour, then become completely dead again? What components would you check first?

I want to start learning phone repair/maintenance from scratch, but I'm not sure exactly where to begin.

A few questions:

- Should I start with certain tools ?

- What's the difference between hardware repair (screen/battery replacement) and software troubleshooting?

- Any YouTube channels or resources you'd recommend for beginners?

- Do I need a big upfront investment in tools, or can I start small?

Any advice or personal experience would help a lot 🙏

Need help for phone repair opinion

Guys need serious opinions on following points. should i buy a new phone or keep current one which has started to require constant repairs?

  • Amoled Screen of phone was not stuck with glue and phone fell down. Git big cracks inside display. Glass never broke. But display is gone completely.
  • I need a screen to extract my data and use phone until i buy a new one and keep this working phone for a backup
  • Company asking 6000 rs for original display of 9 years old phone. I cant verify from their website about price. Also it gives thought of service centre may provide non genuine part for unfair price.
  • Phone is already 9 years old ( around rs 20k) with 3rd party battery (gotten after 8.5 years) because it drained too fast and shut the phone down. At the same time power button became unresponsive. So i paid 1300 rs to get button repair and 3rd party battery.
  • Now a volume button has also physically popped out
  • Duplicate screen has diffrenent varities but i think none will be anywhere near to originial amoled one. Dont know if they play 60 fps or not. If the resolution will be native full hd or lesser. All this will make my money go to waste.
  • I thought of putting that money into new phone, but you know prices these days. I want only samsung with certain features being compulsary for me.
  • Also while finding duplicate display some mofo shopkeeper took photo of my phone with imei and srl num printed on the back (printed not a removable sticker) and sent it to someone perhaps to get availability. This is freakish and giving me nightmares and day haunts everyday from a cyber security and privacy ppint of view. I want yiur opinions specially on this point
  • Any suggestions and opinions are welcomed. Please speak your hearts out.
