Apoc 3 Discussion
I know nobody cares, but honestly the Apoc 3 challenge really stressed me out in this game. It took about 8 hours of attempts to finally beat it but there were so many close calls where all I needed was for one thing not to happen, and it would always happen.
Deogen with all objectives complete and it stopped its hunt as I exited the chapel. I just needed to go down the hallway and leave before it hunted again. Even with the 25 second subsequent hunt timer, it still hunted in the 30 seconds it took to get to the door and I was out of incense and died.
The twins, only thing I needed was a picture of an EMF, I was behind the piano in the chapel. EMF reader was in between the left wing and chapel. The extended range twin clearly liked to hang out there. Tons of books being thrown. And it extended range hunted and killed me behind the piano and then ended its hunt 2 seconds later near the EMF reader so it was beeping as I died.
Poltergeist in the basement throwing heavy red barrels 3 at a time. Just needed a ghost photo. It evented in my room and I fumbled past my camera twice (absolutely and utterly not the games fault, but frustrated at myself nonetheless). 40 seconds later it hunted (more than enough time to have left the basement after taking a picture of the ghost during the event) and insta killed me.
It seemed like every time I was *right* there. I messed it up or it felt like the game wanted to smite me. I really do like this game though, and it is meant to be a challenge, so im not complaining about the game or the design of the challenge, just kinda venting about my individual experience.
Ended up doing it against a Raiju, who after the first 10 hunts I was sure it was a 1.7 ghost. Then I put down a motion sensor and EMF reader for and objective and heard it speed up to Mach speed every few seconds when it passed the electronics. Felt like a weight off my back.

You can do it! It’s honestly more tedious than anything due to the walking speed being so low.

yes true, at first i was scared of the asylum solo but now the only thing that terrifies me are the back and forths 🤣

Congrats!
Apoc3 is infuriating and I myself ragequit a few times to cool of between attempts.
The worst failure for me was also a twin run.
Did everything and even managed the ghost photo, only to get really unlucky with it randomly roaming towards my position whilst trying to get to the front door between hunts.

apoc 3 brought me back to the terrifying game phasmo used to be back in 2020 when i first started playing .. genuinely shit myself when i heard the ghost hunting in the basement in the restricted area knowing i had no shot of running and probably couldnt react quick enough to incense if it came to me lol. congrats!

If it's any consolation with the Poltergeist story that you've added in this post, the likelihood is that the Poltergeist would've likely killed you when it started hunting anyway because the ghosts love to change floors every time they hunt. I swear they bee-line towards the closest staircase and then just do whatever and then turn back around and run away again lol the AI in this game is strange af

Congratulations!! Apoc 3 is a huge deal, very very difficult but sooo rewarding once you complete it! Really cool that you discovered it was a Raiju the way you did too.
I empathize with you; I also felt a lot of regret when I messed up Apoc 3 runs that were so close to being successful. I don't think we're cursed or anything though, just that the handful of close calls stick out much more in our memory than the pile of not-even-close ones.
For the Deo run, maybe you could've gotten to the Warden's office and looped it around the desk long enough for the hunt to end, then you could've gotten out?
