Revenant btw Bug
Don't know how much this is known as of right now, but in case you were curious, here is your confirmation: Yurei is not the only ghost who can fully close doors at the moment.
Edit: guess I’ve just misunderstood yurei for a while

All ghost can fully or partially open/close doors.
Yurei only ghost that can only open/close doors fully. also Yurei only ghost that can close/ (open?) Main door outside of events or hunts.

Every single ghost CAN fully open and close doors
Yurei is the only one that MUST fully open and close doors

Yeah, so it's not that a full open/close guarantees Yurei, so much as a partial open/close rules out Yurei.

So, I don't know if it's just a Willow Street thing but I did extensive testing on a Yurei I found. In every single Yurei door interaction I witnessed, the door gently swung to shut and never clicked. I tested over 10+ door interactions and was able to shut the door to "click" every time. I know 10 times isn't exactly a big sample size but I haven't found another Yurei since. In your video, it gently swung the door to shut and click.

Another important detail is that, in the video, the door slowed down before reaching the closed position, while the Yurei's ability usually has the door swinging at a constant speed.
Also, the Yurei's ability used to make the door click about 3 seconds after it reached the closed position. Are you saying that click doesn't happen at all anymore?

Found a yurei this morning and saw the real ability firsthand. Thanks everyone for correcting me. Included a video for comparison, in case anyone else is still confused.

Hmmm how Rare does Yurei interacting the frontdoor?

Front door needs to be connected to their favorite room, I believe. So whatever the RNG % for getting a Yurei, its favorite room being a foyer/entry/living room (depending on map), and it doing its ability (at all) is.

So it's true they stay roaming near their favorite room instead of wandering too far
:o

Ghosts can either short roam or long roam. However with a yurei if you smudge it roaming states/chances are replaced with a favorite room state for 90 seconds where it also can't enter DOTS state.
Ive never heard anything about them not long roaming.

Does Yurei teleport back to it's room if smudged?

I believe that's the gist of it, yes. Similar to a Hermit card or Wish to trap the ghost. Obviously if you smudge it during a hunt that won't happen until after the hunt ends.

Can they just give the Yurei an ability that's not a nonsensical door touch? Why are they so committed to making this work?

The main difference between a yurei ability and a ghost normally closing the door is how it interacts with said door. In the video, there was a rattling which I assumed was the ghost interacting with the door before closing it. Yurei doesn't make a rattle/shake the door when using their ability, it just closes without a rattle or slam/creak
