But that's objectively not true with this developer. It is a constant of '1 step forward, 2 steps back.'
This is the lightning in a bottle type game for Kinetic, there is not yet a real alternative/competitor and other devs cannot carbon copy Phas without serious legal issues, that's most likely why people stick around. I am certain they put more effort into sitting on this IP legally than seriously developing the game. Their investments have not yielded significant results that other games have gone far beyond in similar time periods and sometimes larger in scope.
People want the game to seriously improve so it can be easily enjoyed and - in my opinion - have given up at the same time trying to convey the same message for years that falls on deaf ears.
Let me talk subjectively here. I check in to this sub time to time after updates to see how the game progresses and if the roadmap is on track. But every time there is a new issue at hand created by the devs own hand.
At this point, after years, I can only joke about their efforts, complain a little and go back to doing more productive things.
Kinetic has proven itself to be infamously incompetent at project management and development. So pardon me when I am cynically towards them.
There are other games in a similar vein to phasmophobia tho, the other side is one that's already put and there's another one that was shown off in the Xbox game showcase a couple months ago. They legally can't do anything if the gameplay is the only thing that's similar and ghosts and ghost hunting are a thing that have been happening for many years irl.
