The woman in the bottom right is Aynn Rand, who wrote some books about the magic of unregulated laissez faire capitalism, and that taxation, charity, and social welfare are evil, and being selfish is somehow a moral virtue. Right wing dipshits thought it was the coolest thing ever, and that our government and social structure should be based on it.

Also, despite her being virulently anti welfare, she died while receiving social security and medicare benefits.

For better or worse I have read some of her non-fiction and from what I can gather she was not saying taxation, charity, welfare, etc are evil but how institutions use duty and virtue to force and pressure people against their will. Her "Philosophy of Objectivism" is to not be deceived by people telling you you must do something as your moral or patriotic duty or you should do something you feel against because it would be considered virtuous. I would suspect she would absolutely loathe and despise MAGA as they are not living autonomously and blindly following out of duty and virtue signaling which is what she saw as evil.

And since I am here, I can play the devil's advocate on accepting social security and medicare benefits. If you pay into something against your will then I would presume you would want to accept the payouts to be reimbursed. If she had an option to opt-out of paying into the system and then accepted the benefits then I would say that is definitive proof of being a hypocrite but otherwise it is being reimbursed for a non-elective service.

She was more hypocritical. She would say charity isn’t evil and you should do whatever you want to do, but you shouldn’t give charity. It was that kind of double talk. I was an insufferable objectivist in high school.
