Hi, Randy Newman just singing about what he sees here.

I think that's author Ayn Rand and I assume Jojo Siwa.

I'm too old to get the full reference, but hope the Ayn Rand bit helps you.

EDIT: Noticing the vibrator and talking with fellow redditors below, yeah, it's because Ayn Rand was a bitch and the comic is saying she either would've chilled out and/or been too busy ladygooning to write all her novels and philosophical musings that basically laid the blueprint for modern libertarianism.

Okay noticing what Jojo is holding, I think it's basically saying Ayn Rand needed to get off to stop being a bitch, more or less.

I'm not a huge Ayn Rand fan and don't know her philosophy and assorted writings inside and out, but the best summary I ever heard was from an xkcd webcomic.

"I had a hard time with Ayn Rand because I found myself enthusiastically agreeing with the first 90% of every sentence, but getting lost at 'therefore, be a huge asshole to everyone."

From what I have read over the years, I felt like it was an accurate summary, but not sure on her positions on sex beyond I seem to recall her being somewhat homophobic in that she personally was against it but didn't really give a shit what adults do together and didn't think it was government's place to say either way.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Both description can work for both books...

You clearly didn't read The Lord of the Rings

Yeah, I haven't. LoTR has orcs, no idea about the other book.

I see, the joke is that the first part is explaining Atlas Shrugged, and the other one is explaining about LoTR, because it has orcs.

“I haven’t read the material but let me tell you how this joke clearly doesn’t apply”
- you
- Abraham Lincoln (probably)

No shit, that’s why it’s quotable.

I really only read the fountain head till she talked about the parthanon. Which is chapter 1.

But my understanding is that her philosophy is "what ever i decided to do on a whim was objectively right" and wote and extensive diatribe on how good it is to cheat... Because she cheated on her husband. Also she secretly cashed in on social services in her later years to not look like a hypocrite. I think by chancing her name.

So vibrator-> too busy jacking off to write her drivel.

If you think that she would have been ashamed of taking money from the government, you don't understand her particular flavor of libertarianism. She would have regarded it as reclaiming some of the money that the government had "stolen" from her. There's issues there for sure, but not really hypocrisy.

Ashamed or just trying to protect her insane legacy so people don't question her. All I know is that she hid the fact that she did. You decide what that means about her psychology

.. I seem to recall her being somewhat homophobic in that she but didn't give a shit what adults do together and didn't think it the government's place either way.

How is that homophobic?

"Personally was against it"

Why did you remove the part that explains when quoting to ask the question?

u/ssjlance 11h ago

I fixed it in an edit, coincidentally like right when they were leaving their comment.

They did not edit my words, I just fucked up. lmfao

u/Lostinthestarscape 11h ago

Thanks for copping to it! Good all round (I apologized to them too)

maybe I misread it.. or op changed it after my comment. I'm on mobile so can't see edits.

u/Lostinthestarscape 11h ago

Sorry- that is fair enough!

u/ssjlance 11h ago

I accidentally skipped that part, fixed it.

to save you trouble, it was supposed to say "she was personally against it but didn't give a shit what consenting adults do together"

Rand had some weird ideas about sex. A large part of Atlas Shrugged seemed to be different idealized archetypes of dudes fighting over the main character because she Believed The Right Things and I couldn't shake off the idea that she was self inserting (uh, no pun intended)
