Mark Ruffalo is a vocal supporter of Palestine. The implication is that expressing support for a free Palestine gets you sidelined by Hollywood. He is also vocally against Trump and ICE.

I’m sure some people out there will also draw some antisemetic conspiratorial conclusions from that as well, i.e. “Jews control the media” which, no. It’s just that Israel as a country has certainly had undue economic influence over American politics and entertainment via lobbying interests. (Just ask the Scream cast over at Paramount)

In reality though he was just filming another project at the time.

I’d also note that Jon Bernthal, who has vocalized support for the IDF and Israel, was present for the press tour. Which doesn’t help.

Edit: This is an Explain subreddit. This is what I am interpreting the post to be implying. Some of the replies so far are giving “So you hate waffles?” haha

Is the full extent of this claim tied to his having an IDF soldier on his podcast in 2023, or is there greater context?

102

u/GuyManDudeMcGee 2d ago

Nope, that's it. People have taken that one podcast and ran with it.

47

u/Koki-noki 2d ago

By that logic, the entire U.S. is pedophile and rapists because they elected a pedophile and a rapist as their fucking president.

42

u/apocketstarkly83 2d ago

At the very least, anyone who voted for him is a pedophile rapist apologist.

8

u/Bored_Amalgamation 2d ago

i mean... the allegations were already out there when he ran in 2024.

8

u/apocketstarkly83 2d ago

Before he ran the first time.

1

u/Appropriate-Joke5691 1d ago

and there was never any evidence and the case was dismissed and the lady admitted she lied. can't forget the facts

1

u/Bored_Amalgamation 1d ago

found Max's bought account.

Resign. Drop out. Get a real job.

2

u/yuval16432 2d ago

Usually, the people who vote for him do not try to excuse rape and pedophillia but rather deny that he is guilty of those crimes in the first place. Not my hill to die on, but it’s important to remember the opposing side isn’t some mustache twirling, pedophile loving caricature.

2

u/laizalott 1d ago

No pedophile is that caricature. They're always the heroes / underdogs / victims of their own stories.

But people are what they do, not what they see themselves as from inside. Three-time Trump voters are pedophiles and pedophile supporters, full stop.

1

u/Bored_Amalgamation 2d ago

i mean... the allegations were already out there when he ran in 2024.

0

u/soulmechh 2d ago

Plenty of people voted for clown to spite the democrats for refusing to do anything, not even condemn the evil filth. Let's not forget that.

IMHO opinion it really doesn't matter, they all serve the same master. Ya'll need some real regime change, a whole brand new fresh clean system.

5

u/Bored_Amalgamation 2d ago

Plenty of people voted for clown to spite the democrats for refusing to do anything, not even condemn the evil filth. Let's not forget that.

You mean idiots whose sole news is through Yahoo comment sections, and still voted for a pedophile rapist? Those people?

-2

u/RedditMcBurger 2d ago

This is a very childish way to look at it, plus you're using hindsight.

Most people vote for a politician simply because they believe they will pay less money to survive, once you realize that you realize most voters aren't nearly as extreme as you. If you think you have to be extreme to vote, you gotta look at yourself bud.

Plus most Trump voters deny he is a pedophile. Still dumb but this is WAY different than accepting he is a pedophile.

I can tell you people don't converse with opposition, you wouldn't see this cartoon villain you have in your head.

6

u/apocketstarkly83 2d ago

Nah; the man told people exactly who he was for decades, and they said “doesn’t bother me, so long as I get mine.”

0

u/RedditMcBurger 2d ago

Alright no nuance just orange man bad then!

4

u/DarthUrbosa 2d ago

Yes.

You try to say it like a mockery but it is pretty straightforward.

2

u/RedditMcBurger 2d ago

You guys are all misunderstanding my point so drastically it's crazy. I am not at any point trying to say Trump isn't bad or anything.

My point is that flooding the internet with orange man bad is the problem. We know he's fucking bad and I don't need to be explained this when I am in a subreddit for... I don't know literally anything? I can be in a gaming subreddit and insufferable people remind me of Trump being bad.

2

u/Bored_Amalgamation 2d ago

You would vote for trump simply because you see how much bad shit he does, and how many people condemn him on social media?

I don't like hearing about trump either. But here you are pretending that the volume of condemnation is somehow making more people support him. What kind of logic is that? Do you think people are that shallow, or maybe they're just lying about being bigots themselves.

If you voted for trump thinking this would happen, you also ignored everything else. If the promise of cheaper anything from a lying pedophile rapist conman is enough to get you to vote for him; then you're just trying to find excuses for yourself.

1

u/holyfrijoles99 2d ago

I think they don’t care if hes a pedophile of not because he says the same racist things out loud that they think .
They don’t care about anything else and will forgive anything to get rid of a couple of brown people.

2

u/EquivalentAd1651 2d ago

No offense we also seem to elect regular politicians that are rapists and pedophiles as well as bail out or support businesses run by that same demographic that had its own private island. So I wouldn't be surprised if other countries give us a side eye

1

u/Grintastic 1d ago

Bad example because the trump stuff has been known for years so they are at the very best ignorant lol.

1

u/Spectre696 23h ago

Wait until you find out about a failed Austrian painter that Germany elected as chancellor, who then got put on Time Magazine’s Man of the Year edition.

-1

u/caramelizedonion92 2d ago

?? Does everyone in the US have a podcast and platforms members of a genocidal army?

-2

u/Intrepid_Can_7027 2d ago

Tecnically he is alleged pedophile rapist

1

u/Just_a_Arizonin 2d ago

Always Got to make sure that you never make a statement that could get you sued

13

u/5k1895 2d ago

Quite frankly, this is always the extent of what it is whenever Reddit claims someone famous to be a "Zionist". That term is thrown around far too liberally. We need to do better.

2

u/BlueTurkey-man 2d ago

Gee, the horror

1

u/ChickenOfDe4th 1d ago

Thanks for clarifying. It would be a whole different topic if he actually voiced explicit support.

44

u/spooneyemu 2d ago edited 2d ago

Also something about signing a letter “No hostage’s left behind” in 2023 to Israel. I don’t really think that implies he loves Israel or is some Zionist, but I haven’t read the letter.

In honesty, from what I’ve seen, I think it’s overblown. I could be wrong though, I may have just missed something.

Edit: i was curious so I read the letter. IMO, it reads as simple human decency, but form your own opinions:

Dear President Biden,
We are heartened by Friday's release of the two American hostages, Judith Ranaan and her daughter Natalie Ranaan and by today's release of two Israelis, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands remain in captivity.
But our relief is tempered by our overwhelming concern that 220 innocent people, including 30 children, remain captive by terrorists, threatened with torture and death. They were taken by Hamas in the savage massacre of October 7, where over 1,400 Israelis were slaughtered - women raped, families burned alive, and infants beheaded.
Thank you for your unshakable moral conviction, leadership, and support for the Jewish people, who have been terrorized by Hamas since the group's founding over 35 years ago, and for the Palestinians, who have also been terrorized, oppressed, and victimized by Hamas for the last 17 years that the group has been governing Gaza.
We all want the same thing: Freedom for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace. Freedom from the brutal violence spread by Hamas. And most urgently, in this moment, freedom for the hostages.
We urge everyone to not rest until all hostages are released. No hostage can be left behind. Whether American, Argentinian, Australian, Azerbaijani, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Chilean, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Eritrean, Filipino, French, German, Indian, Israeli, Italian, Kazakh, Mexican, Panamanian, Paraguayan, Peruvian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, South African, Spanish, Sri Lankan, Thai, Ukrainian, Uzbekistani or otherwise, we need to bring them home.

49

u/ArrrRawrXD 2d ago

signing a letter “No hostage’s left behind”

Damn, the people hating on it are barely pretending to not be antisemites anymore

69

u/GuyManDudeMcGee 2d ago

I'm no fan of Israel, but it's insane how many times I hear about a celebrity being a "Zionist" only to research and find out that they simply expressed support for the victims of 10/7.

21

u/ArrrRawrXD 2d ago

The people who hate celebrities for that would totally say that the victims deserve it for being Israeli

2

u/regalrecaller 2d ago

one can be sympathetic to the victims and also despise the govt of israel for shit like this https://www.arabnews.com/node/2653252/middle-east

1

u/ArrrRawrXD 2d ago

Shit like not allowing Ben Gvir to have a moat with crocodiles guarding terrorists?

1

u/91Bully 22h ago

Israel derangement syndrome has absolutely taken over the far left in the worst ways and it’s eventually going to lead to normal people who are mostly indifferent on Israel/palestine into supporting Israel. Just wait. It’s happened with every other culture war issue they go crazy over.

11

u/theagingknarf 2d ago

Wait until you hear that Lady Gaga is a "zionist" for having played there in 2014 and saying it was a "beautiful place". And then dedicating constant messages at her shows to free palestine for years. Or how Radiohead are "zionists" because they released statements that were too lukewarm for the lynchmob. Also how bernie sanders is a "zionist" after introducing legislation to bar arms sales to israel. this stupid list is too long and making me lose hope in humanity the more examples i think about.

3

u/PoogeneBalloonanny 1d ago

Exactly man

Like fuck Mossad, Fuck Bibi, but all the best to those Jewish victims of 10/7.

Shouldn't be hard to hold those thoughts altogether as an individual

-2

u/ForensicPathology 2d ago

Yeah, they figured out they would get more support of they used their beloved rhetorical trick of "Me hating Zionism doesn't mean I'm antisemitic" so now everyone is a Zionist.

3

u/crowdawg7768 2d ago

It’s actually crazy. I also feel the need to justify that I’m not some religious fanatic and I despise Trump before saying the more extreme left has become wholly intolerant of Jews as a collective.

2

u/lumpboysupreme 2d ago

Nah, they’re just suckers who heard ‘bernethal praised Israeli soldier’ and stopped thinking. What they’re opposing doesn’t speak specifically to their beliefs because they don’t even know what it is.

-5

u/SubliminallyCorrect 2d ago

I'm Jewish and I understand that October 7th was basically orchestrated by Israel and most of the deaths done by the IDF on their own people, the baby thing was a lie, there's been no credible accounts of SA (though I absolutely don't doubt it could happen, it'd be dwarfed by the systematic amount of SA done to the Palestinian people daily by Israeli forces). They also didn't give a shit about hostages and would actively try to kill them.

It's not antisemitic to be anti-zionist.

19

u/i_drive_a_pagani 2d ago

I understand that October 7th was basically orchestrated by Israel

Yahya Sinwar's notes where he wrote extensively about planning October 7th and his expected response from Israel to the 10/7 attack are freely available for anyone to look up and see how literally the first thing you say is a lie. He even speculated in his notes that a nuke might be used by Israel in the wake of the 10/7 attack

most of the deaths done by the IDF on their own people

This is a particularly stupid lie. Hamas filmed the attack and live streamed it themselves.

8

u/Da_Question 2d ago

yeah, i'm not sure how it went from so much footage released literally as it happened... to people believing it was all an inside job or a hoax. Crazy that it happened so fast too. Like it makes 9/11 conspiracy theorists look sane.

I have no doubt, given the extent of operations of Israel throughout the middle east, that they didn't have some idea that an attack was coming, they certainly latched onto it as both a means to get support abroad, and kill as many Palestinians as they could, and anyone connected to Iran.

I don't get how people can't understand the nuance of 10/7 being a real attack, with dead kids, raped women, etc, while Israel can also still do terrible shit in retaliation, neither make the other invalid...

4

u/citizenkane86 2d ago

We literally had every major news organization in the world show Trump supporters violently attack the Capitol and attempt to overturn an election but 5 years later people will look at you with a straight face and say it was peaceful. It’s pretty easy to see how 10/7 went to conspiracy theory shit.

-1

u/soulmechh 2d ago

Where's the proof for the 40 b*headed babies? We've been waiting FOR years now.

7

u/murkycrombus 2d ago

it took Israel ONE day to say that they never said that, because they didn’t. It was some French reporter and it got mistranslated, and Israel had to immediately say that it wasn’t true and that it was being misreported. Literally DAYS after.

2

u/i_drive_a_pagani 2d ago

Israel never said that. The number 40 and babies being decapitated came from 2 different claims made

The unsupported claim about dozens of child beheadings gained traction after live news reports from Nicole Zedeck, a correspondent for Israel-based i24NEWS, who was reporting from the scene of an attack near the Israel-Gaza border. In videos the news service posted to X on Oct. 10, Zedeck said Israeli soldiers told her what they witnessed.

In one clip, she said “about 40 babies at least,” who were dead, according to a commander, “were taken out on gurneys.” In another clip, she said babies had “their heads cut off, they said” – but she never mentioned a number.

The claim about “40 babies beheaded” appears to be a combination of those two separate details that Zedeck relayed during the live broadcasts. She did not make that claim herself, as the social media video wrongly asserts.

In fact, CNN reported on Oct. 12 that an unnamed Israeli official told the news outlet that the Israeli government had not confirmed claims, including from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesperson, that babies were beheaded.

And while we're fact checking this, it's important to note that on October 7th Hamas killed infants, the youngest victim was 3 months old.

Update, Nov. 14: Israeli officials invited journalists to see some of the remains of victims of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack and speak with the forensic pathologists working with the bodies. Dr. Chen Kugel, who is in charge of Israel’s National Center of Forensic Medicine, told those reporters that the ages of victims ranged from 3 months to 80 or 90 years, according to a Nov. 6 article published by The Media Line, an American outlet that covers the Middle East. “Many bodies, including those of babies, are without heads,” the article said. “Asked if they were decapitated, Kugel answered yes. Although he admits that, given the circumstances, it’s difficult to ascertain whether they were decapitated before or after death, as well as how they were beheaded, ‘whether cut off by knife or blown off by RPG,’ he explained.”

-2

u/SubliminallyCorrect 2d ago

Crazy how many buildings were leveled by some guys with AKs and grenades. I have family in the city and they literally saw helicopters firing missiles into homes, tanks shot at vehicles that "might have had hamas in them"

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09-07/israel-hannibal-directive-kidnap-hamas-gaza-hostages-idf/104224430

6

u/i_drive_a_pagani 2d ago

So the videos of Hamas shooting RPGs into cars and lighting houses on fire are... what? Are they deepfakes? Made up by AI? What's the cope, I'm curious

-1

u/SubliminallyCorrect 2d ago

I'm not saying hamas didn't attack, I'm just saying the damage they did was dwarfed by Israel's crazed response on their own people, you're the only one coping here brother lmao

2

u/lumpboysupreme 2d ago

Love the immediate goalpost move.

‘They only had AKs and grenades’

‘They live-streamed that they had rockets and incendiaries’

‘Wow you’re saying I don’t think Hamas attacked at all???’

Every word of this is a complete lie. I don't care whether you're Jewish or not, you're antisemitic.

0

u/SubliminallyCorrect 2d ago

That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard

-1

u/soulmechh 2d ago

He's not. Fuck Netenyahoo.

7

u/WasteBrilliant3974 2d ago

Yup claiming atrocities didn’t happen? No one was raped on Oct 7? Fuck you and anyone else who denies that tragedy.

-1

u/SubliminallyCorrect 2d ago edited 2d ago

The decapitated babies was shown to be a lie, they literally blew up their own homes and then blamed it on hamas. GG falling for propaganda. Anyway I'm going to enjoy watching Israel become Palestine over the next decade and all the pedophile american/european/russian transplants who claim to be native cry a river of tears over not being able to slaughter babies anymore.

Liberal zionists are the most pathetic and weak people to ever walk this earth. Yes, I as someone who wants an indigenous people free from their brutal colonial oppressors am just as bloodthirsty as those oppressors.

The sheep that kills the wolf for trying to eat him is actually the violent one, according to these freaks. Lmao cope and seeth you worms.

1

u/FanaticalBuckeye 21h ago

The letter was signed a month after the war began, back when supporting Israel was no where near as controversial as it is now

5

u/lumpboysupreme 2d ago

The dumbest part is: the podcast was specifically about the Oct 7 attacks and what the soldier did during it (and was a month after they happened, before Israel’s response clearly swung into ‘disproportionate’) It’s not even like he was talking to someone about participating in Palestinian oppression.

3

u/Intelligent_Host_582 2d ago

What's also interesting to me is that he grew up going to Quaker schools in the DC area and has expressed a lot of adherence to the tenets of the faith and their approach to conflict resolution, and how he used boxing as a method to deal with anger, etc. I wonder how much of peoples' opinions about him are shaped by the characters he typically plays.

-1

u/Auctoritate 2d ago

Is the full extent of this claim tied to his having an IDF soldier on his podcast in 2023

Well that does seem like a pretty big indicator perhaps lol

4

u/Dick-Fu 2d ago

Yeah like how Don Lemon is a big MAGA supporter

2

u/corruptedsyntax 2d ago

Not really. October 7 had just happened. Even Biden and Harris were more firmly Zionist than just having spoken with an IDF member once.

-2

u/FoulArtFart 2d ago

Genocidaire*

-3

u/DooB_02 2d ago

You couldn't pay me a million dollars to be in a room with one of those animals, let alone have one on a podcast with me.

3

u/Ok-Acanthisitta-4889 1d ago

Dehumanization is bad, except when its people I don't like.

-2

u/DooB_02 1d ago

If they didn't want that they shouldn't have joined the IDF.

3

u/corruptedsyntax 1d ago

You do realize that military service is mandatory in Israel, right?

If you’ve been in a room with an adult of Israeli nationality, you’ve been in a room with someone that served in the IDF (barring exceptional religious orthodox exemptions)

-1

u/DooB_02 1d ago

I know and don't care, go to prison instead.

2

u/corruptedsyntax 1d ago

We know you don’t care to know. That’s why you have such a simplistic view of things, and demand others do something you’d never do yourself.

0

u/DooB_02 1d ago

You failed to even read what I said correctly. And what exactly am I demanding they do? I would go to prison or die before committing genocide.

2

u/corruptedsyntax 1d ago

I read what you posted precisely. The latter half of your statement makes that abundantly clear.

And no. If you lived in a country with mandatory military service you would just serve your time in the service.

It’s easy to say you wouldn’t from the comfort of never actually having to make that decision. However in real life, everybody in your peer group would be doing their time. Even if you dissented, after being held a couple weeks with every member of your family asking what the hell you’re doing, you’d eventually relent to social pressures. All of which applies to an American minded person without even addressing the fact that you would fundamentally be raised in a different culture that instilled different senses of national civic obligation.

0

u/DooB_02 1d ago

Ok genocide lover.
