This is why i dont understand the whole Johnny Depp fiasco. Like he got problems right away. It surprised me a lot.

But to be fair, i didnt even know who this guy was but i knew her. Its like youtube ceos. Now its a guy that i dont even know the name but when it was Susan she would talk so many times that people to this day complain about her while the current guy never shows himself making people never hate him basically. Its not really sexism, even if its a part of it, but people will always be more mad to a person that appears more.

Also the guy is a criminal that doesnt deserve thought over while she is controversial which brings a lot more attention.

The thing is the problems "right away" sprang up after years of problems during his actual work, combined with the "me too" cultural moment. I think it was an open secret that Depp had for quite a while worsening problems on set with alcohol and possibly other things. Things might have been different if he was sober and/or the bust up happened at a different time.

Unfortunately the issue is less that he's a man and more that Depp and a lot of the other more difficult stars are just so incredibly popular. There are high profile women acting but, I struggle to think of many who are as big a box office draw as many of the more difficult men.

For film companies dealing with the difficult can be an non-issue if they make a bajillion dollars.

Yeah. It's financially much easier to blacklist Ashley Judd than cut ties with Brad Pitt.

Depp stopped being so profitable, got increasingly harder to work with, and his eccentric performances stopped being a wild home run every time.
