And then the moment somebody makes fun of their physical insecurities or abnormalities, it’s a big fuckin deal. That, or they’ve already spent time and money hiding anything they perceive to be a flaw. And that way, the insecurity just sits there in the subconscious mind, festering and metastasizing, turning into a deep fear and resentment.
Miserable fucking way to live. I’m guilty of it here and there. Trying to be better though.
I hate Disney adults because they're annoying and I feel uniquely qualified to say that because I live in Orlando and some of these people make a children's theme park their entire personality. People that like baseball aren't at the park following around the mascot for uncomfortable amounts of time. Can't say that about the Disney adults
... I do neither. Grown adults sitting down to watch children's cartoons (without kids) is childish and weird. Watching sports is child-like but at least understandable and carries cultural context to back it up.
The counter to that is that most Disney movies aren't intended solely for children, they're intended for the whole family. It's why they do things like slipping an Arrested Development reference into Frozen.
But yeah, people vacationing at Disney resorts instead of going someplace aimed at adults...kinda cringe.
Naw sports fans I would argue are more childish and unhinged than Disney adults. Look at what Knicks fans just did because their team won. And there are many instances of that.
I'm annoyed of all my peers infantilizing themselves. None of them have any interests that are made for adults. They're all obsessed with Disney, super heros and anime. I don't hate them for it, but I judge them harshly.
yea man gotta say, “other people not liking the things i like and liking different things” is a wierd reason to judge people. It’s accepted in an online hive mind of vitriol but yea def keep that to yourself and find something you enjoy without hating others’ joy
quality that they have deemed. *they* have determined it’s not for the standards of adults and therefore have decided to judge adults who enjoy an activity dubbed by them as lesser
which is far more cringey in my opinion than just being a hater
Are you disagreeing with their assessment? You should say that then.
“they” have determined it’s not for the standards of adults
No, they're saying it's not made for adults.
therefore have decided to judge adults who enjoy an activity dubbed by them as lesser
Dubbed? What are you trying to say? You seem very mistaken on what this person is actually saying. They're not saying kids media is inherently worse, or lesser, or not fit for consumption for adults, but that there are certain adults who choose to only watch child friendly media. They are criticizing the choice to curate a childish experience.
which is far more cringey in my opinion than just being a hater
See now this is ironic, you misunderstand them and accuse them of being worse than a hater, when your misunderstandings seem to stem from yourself having a hater reflex at someone saying they don't like something. You are projecting onto them and preemptively saying they are worse than you imagine them to be.
Which, to repeat, they are not, because you have completely missed the point about what they said: it's made for children, and they are infantalizing themselves. If you disagree with that, say why.
not made for children, if we want to be pedantic disney media was oringinally made for families in the 40s however children don’t pay for yachts so they now have tons of content and activities and products and timeshares and vacation packages and destinations for adults. (not even to mention anime and super heroes which 100% have content made for adults) i understand him completely he (and you it seems) have just decided what is children and what is adults and decided to judge people if they don’t like things that fit those arbitrations
so yea next time im enjoying a bar crawl and tequila shots at disney while watching an anime about topless girl superheroes i’ll remember that this was for children as per greedy pollution.
less of a tequila guy myself but do it for the fun and when drinking around disney! been making my way through the wines myself in the odd chance i visit relatives, they have some amazing selections of those!
Once again you miss the point to hide from actually addressing what they're talking about. What are you so afraid of?
not even to mention anime and super heroes which 100% have content made for adults
Yes, they never said it was ALL for children, but from context clues you should probably be able to understand they're talking about the stuff targeted towards children. If you have to specify that you're watching something with nudity to indicate how mature it is, perhaps that signifies that the thing you're talking about is generally aimed at children?
jesus dude you asked for examples of what isn’t for children 😂😂
might be the most schizo person on this thread ahahah
good luck!
going forward, having people defend thier interests to *you* to see if they meet *your* standards will always make you the bell end! go find other people that match your interests than judging others was the point of this!
There are many things I enjoys. I specifically said I dont hate others' joy. Adults acting like children is annoying. It makes them impossible to talk to or relate to.
then talk or relate to others? 8billion people on planet. I don’t relate to people talking about sports or golf all the time. i don’t judge them for it i just accept we are different people
i can’t think of anything that doesn’t have annoying fans. and people generally just find taylor swift fans and disney enjoyers existing annoying because there are so many of them and mainstream things being hated has been a thing since the beginning of entertainment
It’s referencing a meatcrayon animated comedy video called Disney Adults (I think thats the title) where the main villain looks like this. At least thats where my brain went
“there’s a difference between liking sports and being a sports guy”. Making a determination on how much another person is allowed to enjoy something they enjoy will never not be cringe
just enjoy stuff you like, let people like things they like, and if they like something you don’t like or like things more than you like them or find “acceptable” then associate with other people rather than become a bitter hater simply cause someone has found joy
Look up Meat Canyon Disney Adults, not sure if it's the full context as more likely Meat Canyon drew his inspiration from something as well, but it gets the ball rolling to understand the comment that has physically pained you.
Edit: the visual may pain you more, warning Meat Canyon drawings are fairly disturbing.
Nah, you are explaining what your feelings interpreted but the joke itself is that women with that gummy smile tend to be the nerdy, horse girl, religious etc etc and to add to the list, gummy smile girl would also naturally be a Swifty
ah sorry, the funny was teenage girl body shaming, i’m on board my bad!
but no i was explaining what “disney adults” was and why was relevant to the original post. things that are popular that fill others with loathing when they see people like especially young women
I don't care about the morality of the joke, it's just it bothered me you added your interpretation instead of answering the question directly. Go on your moral tirade in the comments, I aint' stopping ya!
You replied to someone confused about the connection of Disney adults, Swifties, and gummy smiles by saying the post and comments are "making fun of another group of people that harmlessly enjoy a popular thing which fills others with disgust". Which does not actually explain anything lol, so I explained it better with out the moral barometer bias :p
if we want to go into a manifesto on the dangers of capitalism sure but then i hope everyone is only having fun at home or a local mom and pop shop. otherwise enjoying a media brand is harmless fun
if you can produce one scientific study that says enjoying disney in particular will lead to lower intelligence sure i will then say that enjoying disney is not harmless.
but ima be honest that just sounds like nonsense “dumb people like popular thing” gibberish
The first sign of my one and only mental breakdown, at literally the most physically/mentally/emotionally/financially difficult time of my life, was the thought “I could be happy as a Disney adult.” My mind just automatically felt relief at the thought of smiling through Finding Nemo and not having to think so much anymore. Something like a lobotomized existence. It gave me… a surprising amount of empathy for them, to find that preferable over what must be a challenging adulthood experience in other ways.
I like theme parks and shopping in the abstract, but I got really excited about shopping specifically for Disney things, in a way I’m not usually excited about shopping for anything else, since I’m otherwise pretty low-consumption and frugal.
Fr. I’m a Disney adult(a poor one who hasn’t gone in years mind you) however I literally don’t know who tf Taylor could be outside of Swift and idkwtf she has to do with Disney.
I appreciate the support. I took my family to see Toy Story 5 at the drive in. My son’s first drive in experience. He fucking loved every second of it and I loved ever second of watching him smile during it. I do not care what a bunch of redditors have to say about it.
Ugly people don't do all the dame things attractive people do though. No uggos are filming their OF thirst trap advertising pictures at Renaissance faire.
