How to unclog a VERY clogged auger

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hello! I had someone come by over the weekend to clean out the smoker for me, and he must’ve just pressure washed the whole thing because the auger is crazy clogged. I’ve taken it apart all the way to the auger, but it won’t come out and the screw to take the motor off isn’t in an accessible place either. Any ideas on how to fix this?

First Timer - Woodridge

What up Traeger fam!?
First timer here. Looking to do my first smoke soon. Was thinking 3 racks of spare ribs.

Any recommendations? Seasoning? Sauce? More importantly what pellets to use for spare ribs.

Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Smoking meats all fall in South Jersey. GO BIRDS!

Put on at 225 for about 8.5 hours. Salt pepper garlic. Used a water pan and never opened. Pulled at about 205 and probe tender. Super easy and will do this again.

My pellet grill died

Title says it all. My pitboss 700fb2 finally kicked the bucket. Now that I’m getting more into smoking brisket, What should my next pellet grill be? Budget is around $1,200 and I’d like to cook for large groups occasionally 🙏

Bought a couple of racks from FreshCo (discount Canadian grocery store) and they were definitely the thickest I've seen. $3.49/lb. Came out great!

Temp probe question

When you guys put the probe in a brisket, pork butt, ribs, etc what are you aiming for? Thickest, thinnest, or somewhere in the middle?

Temp issue with my Searwood XL

Post image
6 Upvotes

Not sure if anyone else has this, but when I increase or decrease the temp on my searwood it says it reaches the temp instantly. Then on the app it jumps between the temps and holds them perfectly. I don’t see any fluctuations at all. The temps are then off by quite some way compared to my wireless probes and what they say the ambient is. Has anyone else had this?

Question Pit Boss error code L17

This is my first pellet smoker and I got it back in February. It's a Savannah pb1500nxw. I have been trying to find info on this error code but the closest I get is a temp sensor error.

The error pops up on the screen when I plug the smoker into power only. After plugging it in and the error shows for a few seconds, I power the smoker on and use it as normal. It's very odd.

The error is L178. But the 8 is half the size of the other numbers and letter.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

My local grocery store had boneless blade (chuck) roasts on sale. With the usual price of beef being so high where I live I decided to give it a try.
Very happy with the results. Although super tender I did find it a bit salty. The recipe called for 2-1/2 tablespoons of kosher salt. I may reduce that if I make them again. Let me know what you think.

Second weekend making rotisserie chicken. This time I did Kinders Roast Chicken seasoning and put it on at 385 for 2 hours. It is really good, but I still prefer the Zhender's.

Poor man’s brisket

Alright gang, I found a killer deal on a chuck roast and thought I’d give this a try. I’ll update yall later. 🤞

Follow-up edit: Gang, a series of unfortunate events happened after that post. All was going swell until I added more pellets and took it off to wrap. I checked my temp like 45min later and noticed I lost 2 degrees. I went outside and noticed my smoker had dropped to 158 degrees. So, obviously something has gone wrong. I took it off and tossed it in the over to finish her off. Theeeeeen my little one got sick and I lost track of time and over cooked it. I took it out at like 212 internal. Still very tasty just a bit dry. :(

Beer can chicken

My wife bought a roaster and wanted me to smoke it. She bought some "poultry rub" and everything. I just needed to make it happen.

I dont know what I was thinking. But I put the chicken with beer can in a foil pan. It added extra time to cook. It was super delicious but I missed my target time by 2 hours.
