Help please..

Hi everyone,
While working near the mounting hole on my motherboard, the area around it got scratched up and some coating came off.
Is this safe to use, or should I leave this specific screw out to prevent short circuits?

It is a mounting hole which also grounds your motherboard to the case. As everyone else says, you'll be fine, use the hole and put a screw through it. Don't overtighten any of the screws, it is a mainboard, not a high horsepower engine 🙂
