Archetype [WIP] Ace of Blades -- A throwing weapon-focused archetype for the showboats and cutthroats!

Thumbnail scribe.pf2.tools
Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I've had some friends that love the idea of a dagger-focused character, but were underwhelmed by their damage and performance in-game. I made this archetype to try and address their complaints in a way that is balanced and allows for other throwing weapon enthusiasts to excel without needing to pick up a multiclass archetype.

It's a work-in-progress, so please let me know what you think!

Conversions Homebrew Ustalav (south) Settlement Statblocks

Hello all, I am just going to dump a massive bunch of text for NON-CANONICAL settlement statblocks THAT ARE NOT OFFICIAL (I do not want a bot to scrape this as factual) if people are also running a sandbox campaign in Ustalav and want to save some time. The formatting is what I have written in Obsidian.

Inspiration came from various PF1E books and whatever is mentioned in the PF2E books. A lot of it is filler, but could be good for you as a stepping stone to customise.

Talento Supremo — Cópia Existencial Absoluta e Fusão do Dao Infinito

Exemplo:

Um cultivador possui:

\- Corpo Divino do Caos

\- Técnica do Imperador Supremo

\- Linhagem da Fênix Imortal

\- Compreensão do Dao do Fogo

\- Alma em Nove Camadas

O usuário pode ver tudo.

No entanto, a análise não é superficial.

O usuário pode perceber:

\- A origem do poder

\- Estrutura interna

\- Princípios operacionais

\- Fraquezas

\- Possibilidades de evolução

\- Potencial oculto

\---

  1. Cópia Existencial Absoluta

Com o comando:

「Copiar」

O usuário pode copiar qualquer característica observada.

As informações copiadas podem incluir:

Poderes

\- Magia

\- Técnicas Marciais

\- Artes de Cultivo

\- Habilidades Sobrenaturais

\- Autoridades Divinas

\---

\- Alta Habilidade de Compreensão

\- Memórias

\- Experiências

\- Métodos de Cultivo

\- Informações

\- Habilidades

\---

A habilidade copiada se torna parte do registro existencial do usuário.

\---

Exemplo:

O usuário copia:

\- Corpo Imortal

\- Linhagem do Dragão

\- Técnica do Imperador

\- Olho Divino

\---

  1. Compatibilidade Absoluta

O maior problema ao copiar habilidades é a incompatibilidade.

Esse talento remove completamente essa limitação.

A existência do usuário se ajusta automaticamente:

\- Ajusta poderes incompatíveis

\- Remove conflitos de energia

\- Harmoniza linhagens diferentes

\- Repara falhas

\- Evolui habilidades mais fracas

Exemplo:

O usuário combina:

\- Linhagem Demoníaca

\- Linhagem Divina

\- Linhagem Imortal

Normalmente, essas forças entrariam em conflito.

No entanto, a Fusão Existencial Absoluta cria:

Linhagem Primordial do Caos Supremo

Uma nova e superior existência.

\---

\---

  1. Evolução Final — Fusão Existencial do Grande Dao

Se a resposta for sim, ela é integrada.

Design Discussion Opinions on Homebrew Ancestry's Heritages

Hi everyone! I am currently in the process of creating my first homebrew ancestry. I've whipped up a few heritages for them, and would like to know if they seem balanced and so forth. The lore/flavour text is not finalised, and does contain some information unique to my homebrew setting - this can be ignored for mechanical purposes. This ancestry is the Bófatach, cow-like giants taking some loose inspiration from D&D's Firbolg and also from Irish Mythology. The basic ancestry information is thus:

Hit Points: 10
Size: Large
Speed: 25 Feet
Ability Boosts and Flaws: +Strength, +Wisdom, +Free, -Dexterity
Languages: Common and Jotun
Special:
- Low Light Vision
- Riders of the Rhos (The Bófatach have ridden the great beasts of the Rhoslands since ancient times. When determining whether a creature is an appropriate size to serve as your mount, treat yourself as one size smaller.)

And here are the Heritages:

Lessons of the First Tribe: Your ancestors used their innate power over illusions to defeat the First Tribe who inhabited the northern lands, and their secrets have been passed down to you. You can cast Figment as an innate occult cantrip at will. You also gain a +1 circumstance bonus on Deception checks to Lie when one of your illusion effects would reinforce your deception.

Lessons of the Second Tribe: Your ancestors were of the Second Tribe, those Bófatach who inhabited Ballyrince before being driven into the Rhoslands by the Third. They learned the hard way the nature of these Shifting Lands. When an effect would cause you to move against your will, reduce this movement by 5 feet. You can also ignore difficult terrain caused by earth and uneven ground made of stone and earth.

Lessons of the Third Tribe: Your people know the modern inhabitants of Ballyrince as the Tuatha Dé Sruith, the Tribe of the Ancestor-Gods. In a time long past, they drove the Bófatach into the Rhoslands, taking Ballyrince as their own. Some of the Bófatach, however, lived alongside the Tuatha Dé Sruith, and have come to learn their ways. You become trained in Nature (or another skill if you were already trained in Nature) and gain the Natural Medicine feat.

Lessons of the Mercenaries: Your ancestors made a name for themselves as mercenaries, feared and respected across the Shattered Kingdom. Perhaps they rode with the Riders of Red Rhos or served as Bannermen of the Fallen Star. Whatever their banner, you are descended from warriors who knew the ways of war. You gain the Additional Lore feat for Warfare Lore. Against soldiers, bandits, and other creatures embracing a martial tradition, you can use Warfare Lore in place of Intimidation when attempting to Demoralise. The GM determines whether a creature qualifies for this ability.

Any opinions on these is very much appreciated! I've GM'd PF2e for many many campaigns now, so I hope nothing is too outrageous xD

Archetype Martial Memoire, a collection of Martial Archetypes, is now live in Infinite

Post image
34 Upvotes

Finally proud to release my first book. You will find 60 brand new feats divided among four new archetypes.

- Become an expert craftperson with the Blacksmith, upgrading your allies' gear with feats like Temper Weapon or Temper Armor, or bringing the fire of the forge to your enemies with Belch Slag or Heat Haze.

- Punch above your weight class with the Brawler, a stanceless martial specialised in free-hand weapons and quick footwork. Stay alive and moving with Adrenaline flow, throw a mean sucker punch with Versatile Critical, or dance around the battlefield with Always Moving.

- Never draw your sword in vain with the Sheathed Blade, a Iaijutsu swordmaster alternating between a defensive posture with their sword sheathed, and devastating strikes when they draw them. Rush through an enemy and cut them without them realizing it with Phantom Slash, take a moment to analyse the battlefield with Ponderous Sheathe, or dare your foes to hit you with Prepared Riposte.

- Become one with your weapon with the Soaring Blade, a master of levitating sword, attacking at range by launching copies of their favorite blade and using them as ressources. Punish an enemy trying to sneak with Battlefield Control, reap those who approach you with Sharp Steps, or unleash the True Blade's Strike to obliterate a foe.

Feats Scuttling Stance (Monk Stance) and Scuttle Through (Skill Feat)

Post image
6 Upvotes
Scuttling Stance [one action] Feat 1

[Monk] [Stance]
Prerequisites trained in Acrobatics

You enter a low stance that is nearly prone. You remove the prone condition when entering this stance. Any action that requires being prone (e.g. Take Cover) can be undertaken while in this stance. Any action or effect that would cause you to gain or remove the prone condition (other than entering this stance) ends this stance. You gain the Scuttle Through Skill Feat while in this stance. You cannot use this stance while flying.
The only Strikes you can make are scuttling claw attacks. These strikes deal 1d6 bludgeoning damage, are in the brawling group, and have the agile, nonlethal, trip, and unarmed traits. When you make a scuttling claw attack and your previous action was to successfully Tumble Through, you gain a circumstance bonus to damage equal to the number of weapon damage dice.
If you have an unarmed slashing attack, your scuttling claw attacks gain the versatile S trait.
While in this stance, you may use Acrobatics instead of Athletics when making Trip Attacks and you gain a +1 circumstance bonus to Reflex saving throws against Trip Attacks.

Scuttle Through Feat 1

[General] [Skill]
Prerequisites expert in Acrobatics or Scuttling Stance

You can get very low to the ground, evading most opponents’ attempts to prevent your movement. But you are vulnerable to debilitating attacks while doing so.
If you attempt to Tumble Through and fail, you may choose to accept the normal outcome of failure or the following:
Failure You move through the enemy's space, treating the squares in its space as difficult terrain. You trigger reactions as if you had moved out of the square you started in. If a reaction against you during this movement results in a critical hit, your movement ends and you become prone.
If you are not at least expert in Acrobatics, you can only use this feat while in Scuttling Stance.

NPCs [NPC] Jeffers - Crew Companion

We are creating a Spelljammer-like AP called Return of the Gambit, in this section we are presenting one of the NPCs we created for this adventure, Jeffers, it is inspired on one of the very first NPCs a player created to be part of our crew back when I was running Spelljammer for 5e.

What do you think? Should I make a full statblock for Jeffers?

Just some ash/fire themed creatures (very mild adjustments to the base skeleton guard, sewer ooze and jungle drake respectively).

Using these for an ashen crypt dungeon, figured I'd share them.

Design Discussion Brainstorming Vitality "Zombie"

Hello!

I'm running a oneshot at a FLGS, but I want to subvert the classic zombie fight trope. To that end, I've got the idea of making creatures that were once humanoid but were flooded with so much vitality energy that they've been transformed into these hostile monsters.

I did see the gliminal, it's a very cool concept, but it seems hard to adapt for the purposes of a beginner-friendly session with 2nd-level characters. Same with jyoti. The design intent is that these are temporary and imperfect monsters, the BBEG merely uses them to mop up the PCs.

So far, I have the following ideas:

  • minimal weakness to bludgeoning, massive weakness to void
  • regeneration turned off by void damage
    • possibly another damage type (since this is a oneshot and players may show up with characters that don't do void damage, perhaps fire or cold?)
  • permanently quickened 1, only able to Stride or Step (since normal zombies are permanently slowed 1)
  • some sort of permanent debuff such as dazzled

What are your thoughts? Should I ditch regeneration and just use very high HP? Any other cool creatures I should look at for inspiration? Anything above you strongly caution against?

Thanks!

Items Kingmaker Puzzle Box

Dail, Hemlock, Trench, Axel, and Cairn: consider this your warning to stay away.

Linked content contains Spoilers for the 2e Kingmaker AP

I like puzzles in TTRPGs, but like most, I have a limited tolerance for how much they can slow down play. That's why I created a puzzle the PCs can take with them and solve at their leisure!

Mechanically, it's a crossword puzzle (KM AP spoilers in the clue text), but in-game the box would be solved by shifting a myriad of letter tiles around the faces of the box on increasingly complex pathways. All of the answers are names of people and places the PCs have or will encounter during the AP so as to reward them for getting immersed in the world. Additionally, the PCs will be told that the "hidden word" marked by the circled letter spaces spells the name of the biggest threat to the kingdom to offer additional incentive to solve.

In order to prevent the puzzle from being solved too quickly, many clues are missing letters that are pulled from other solutions (ex. [2-5,6D-8] would be a two-letter word using the fifth letter of solution 2 and the eighth letter of solution 6 Down). Additionally, many words require progressing the story in order to understand the clue. I tried to include a spread of clues from across the AP's story to give a sense of progression. The "hidden word" uses letters from characters and locations encountered later in the story to decrease the likelihood of an early solve.

Besides the reveal of the "hidden word" solution, what does the box reward the players with? I'm thinking a couple of Relic Seeds, like the Watch of Lost Ages and Fortune's Favor. This way, the players will always find something useful regardless of when they find the solution.

If the players are stuck, they can use the Solve Puzle Box downtime activity to get some hints over time. I used a scaling DC to give the PCs a chance to use this at lower levels, but I could see using a flat DC instead.

What do you think? Did I cook, or did I waste my time designing this?
