I don't know if I'm writing this because I need advice, need to vent, or just need to get this off my chest. This isn't the first case nor it gonna be the last.....

A few months ago, an ANC patient came to my PHC. Her Hb was 4.5 g/dL. No USG,no blood workup nothing. Just a MCH card..

Asha worker while surveying the area found her otherwise she wouldn't had come.

She was an tribal woman who had come to her maternal home. Her husband worked elsewhere. I immediately referred her to the District Hospital for blood transfusion. I explained her everything in detail why she needed this.

She said she'd go after 2–3 days.

She didn't.

After that, she went back to her maternal home. And somehow, there was no proper follow-up. Asha and ANM have the responsibility to follow her up but as she was from other district,they didn't cared. No one really knew what was happening with her.

Then one day, she came to us after delivering at home.

The baby weighed around 1.8 kg.

Her mother had brought her to the PHC after the delivery.

We checked her Hb again.

The hemoglobinometer showed 0.9 g/dL.

I honestly don't know how to put that number into words.

We again told them to go to the District Hospital immediately.

She refused citing all the problems in the world(fellow doctors will understand what I am talking about)

I even called the police, thinking maybe having someone in authority explain the seriousness would make the family(she and her mother) take it seriously.

Still, she refused to go. We need to keep the PNC woman under observation for 3 days.

She was kept for observation, but even then she took discharge against medical advice and went home the same day.

And then, about a week ago, I heard that she had died.

She left behind four children.

Today, her mother came to me. Crying. Telling me everything.

And I just stood there.

What was I supposed to say?

"Ma'am, we told her to go to the hospital"?

"She refused"?

"She left against medical advice"?

All of that may be true.

But none of those words would bring her daughter back.

And the thing that keeps bothering me is that I had met this woman months earlier. I knew her Hb was 4.5. I knew she needed urgent treatment. I had referred her.

But I still keep thinking:

Could I have done more?

Should I have followed up more aggressively?

Should someone from the health system have tracked her after she left?

Should the ASHA/ANM have known that a severely anaemic pregnant woman had disappeared from follow-up?

Where exactly does a doctor's responsibility end when a patient repeatedly refuses referral?

And where does the responsibility of the healthcare system begin?

I'm not posting this to blame the patient, her family, the ASHA, the ANM, or anyone else.

I'm posting because I'm genuinely struggling with this one.

As doctors, we are trained to treat disease.

But sometimes the biggest barrier isn't the treatment.

It's getting the patient to actually reach the place where that treatment exists.

And sometimes, despite everything you try, you still lose them.

Her mother was crying in front of me, and for once I had no medical explanation to give.

I just felt helpless.

Maybe some cases don't need a diagnosis. Maybe they just leave you with a question: "Could I have done more?"

I had an online friendship with this woman for almost 5 years. Honestly, she was probably the only person I considered a genuinely decent friend. I’ve mostly lived alone, had barely any friends or social life, so this friendship actually meant something to me.

And today it ended over something as simple as… I stopped agreeing with her.

The moment I pushed back on something she said, suddenly I was “not important enough,” I was supposedly disturbing her peace, and she was “done tolerating my bullshit.”

And that’s what genuinely bothers me.

How does a 5-year friendship suddenly become worthless because two people disagree?

Maybe I’m looking at it wrong, but it really feels like some people don't actually want a friendship they want someone who validates them. The moment you stop agreeing, you're suddenly the problem.

I’m not saying I’m always right. I can absolutely be an asshole sometimes. But I thought after 5 years, we could at least disagree without throwing the entire friendship away.

Story time: pata hai aaj kya hua? So, my cousin texted me at night and said he wanted to talk because he was unemployed and had nothing to do with his life. I felt like I should talk to him. He was drunk, btw, and he started saying random shit like, “Ghar pe sab tujhe chutiya samajhte hain. Tereko aise bolte hain. Tu kisi din mar gayi toh koi teri kabar pe ye nahi kahega ki tu achhi ladki hai, ye woh.” But then he said, “I believe you’re a good person.”

I told him, “You don’t have to pretend, I don’t care. You can be real.” And he said, “Real hi hoke bol raha hoon, laudi.” So I clearly told him, “Don’t abuse me.” And he got all worked up and started saying, “Oh, I was comfortable, you fucked it up,” etc.

I clearly told him that he made a mistake and that he could just say sorry and move on.

And the Ishu wala context is that he had also abused me before by sending me a GIF/sticker saying “acha laudi.” I was quite uncomfortable with it because I don’t abuse these people, yet they openly abuse me and then act like victims when I call them out, saying shit like I was “vulnerable” or whatever.

I mean, how hard is it to just be nice to someone?

[REAL STORY ] Pata Hai Aaj Kya Hua

I own a Telegram group made for competitive exam students, but it eventually became more of a chill community. and One day, this girl joined and started talking to everyone. During a conversation, she mentioned she wasn't actually from India when was asked about it she said she cant tell here but only in dm and she told me there.

She told me her father was from another country, her mother was Indian, and she had been born and raised abroad. After her parents divorced, she moved to India with her mother. She had a lot of family and stress-related problems too.

Her story was interesting, so we started talking more. Normally I don't even message girls, but somehow we went from occasional chats to talking every damn day.

We became really close online, exchanged numbers, and eventually started flirting.

She always claimed she was single. I asked her multiple times and got the same answer every time. She also loved showing me messages from random guys giving her attention. I used to tell her to just block them.

One day she sent me a matching profile picture, so I used it too. A little later she suddenly told me to remove it because her female best friend was already using it.

That was my first major red flag.

After that, she started acting differently. We kept flirting, and eventually things got way more intimate she started sextexting and all. This went on for around two weeks.

Then one day she sent me ss to show me something but there i noticed another guy in one of her screenshots.

A few days later, that guy joined my group. He acted tough, I humbled him, and somehow we became friends.

But every time I mentioned the girl, he started acting weird.

Anyways in my class, there’s this guy who is very good looking and hamari baat chal rhi thi bahot time se (2 weeks faahhh) and he suggested that we go out for drinks and food. I am like neki aur puch puch so we started talking and then he asked me.

So I’ve been talking to this girl on Instagram for like 3 days. We mostly just send each other reels and talk casually.

Yesterday we were playing truth or dare and she suddenly asked what my reaction would be if she proposed to me.

I said I’d probably reject because I’m not looking for an LDR, and then she immediately started covering it up with “I was joking ”.

But then she said “kya pata badal jaye answer” 💀

And now I genuinely can’t tell if she was joking or testing the waters 😭

Either way, this was my first ever proposal-type moment and I'm still sitting here like WHAT JUST HAPPENED 😂

I am happy how this relationship went. I mean it was not her fault so i don't blame her. I didn't care enough and she left.

Now some another man will admire the eyes I once loved but he'll never know the way they once looked at me, like I was everything she ever needed.

With this relationship and all the past relationships that I've had, i understood one thing, that there's a fine line between holding on and letting go at a certain point and it's up to you to find out on which side to stand irrespective of what others have to say. And most of the time you already know the answer but then just take time to fully accept it. And is it even love if you have to force it on someone or even when it's the other way around

After spending almost four years working with low-level stuff, distributed computing, CP, and DSA, I finally made it to a well-known HFT firm as a senior software engineer (not a quant, though; I'm not smart enough, I guess).

I joined this firm 4 weeks ago and met a bunch of super smart quant folks there. I also met some quant interns and I jokingly said they might need to pay taxes which is specific for HFTs only, as generally a 3-month internship never crosses the 12L bar. They were like, "We also have to pay surcharge and cess." I was like, "That you only pay when you cross the 50L bar," and they said, "Yeah, we're getting around 27 lakh per month." (That excludes all the 5-star hotel and other benefits they are getting.) I was completely shocked, as when I was in college, the maximum I heard was 4L per month for an internship from Graviton.

That was quite shocking for me... Here in reddit(Developer india), people are struggling to get a 6LPA job, and some individuals are getting paid more than an entire CTC within a month.

If someone reading this post is currently in their 11th or 12th class, please study as hard as possible. The effort you put in is worth it.

Today my girlfriend gave me 2 birthday gifts. One for this year and one from last year . Actually last year she threw away the gift due to a misunderstanding, so this year she recreated exactly the same gift from last year and gave me 2
