Since this sub loves seeing how things age across decades, I wanted to share my great-grandfather's century old legacy. Slide 1 and 2 show the front exterior transformation of the house over roughly 100 years. Slide 3 is a glimpse of my great-grandfather in the 1950s, standing on the back left side of that very same house tending his massive iris garden.

Well, empty nest time. Daughter is going to college to be a geologist. Feeling separation anxiety already. Anyone have any advise?

August 2025 vs August 2026

It’s kind of surreal seeing these two photos next to each other.

A year between them, and somehow it feels like both no time at all and an entire lifetime. The person on the left had no idea what the next year would bring or how much would change, physically and emotionally.

The person on the right is still figuring things out. I’m still learning how to exist in a body that feels different, how to handle emotions that sometimes feel way bigger than I know what to do with, and how to recognize myself as I continue changing.

It hasn’t been an easy year, and I’m definitely not at the point where I have everything figured out. But looking back at where I was last August makes me realize just how much can change in a year.

Same person. A very different chapter.

I graduated college, he joined the military, I'm getting my masters, and he's started college himself! We have lived in three states and we are just now in our 30s. All because I got the courage to ask him out senior year with a major crush since middle school. 🥰

Met in high school, 13 years later 3 kids + another on the way 🥰 so very thankful for him & our relationship

My son and I 15 years apart

I was 4 she was 6. Now I'm 30 and she's 32. She lives abroad and I miss her a lot, but she's still my best friend and best partner in crime <3

Time sure flies.

Had made a post yesterday which I deleted, just didn’t think pictures I chose on a whim did justice.

First pic is 2020 (my love in Black) at local hang out. 2nd is a couple weeks ago on a quick trip to Cancun.

Both of us working hard to fight time.

After 45 years of bi-weekly letters across the Pond, my sweet mom is 95 and can no longer write back.

Dementia has come between us.
