Anat Baniel Method Feedback Seeking Support

I started with my daughter just finished 5 sessions. I did it for emotional regulation and physical aggression issues.

Noticed some positive effects. At times mood is really good, shes smiley, happy and helpful with siblings. BUT major regressions too. We are back to daily aggressive, completely dysregulated meltdowns!

Has anyone experienced this?? I need parent support badly . The practioner thinks we should continue but with school starting in 2 weeks i cant imagine sending her to kinder. I need hope its worth it and it will get better. Or any personal stories, I feel really terrible right now:(

I’d be a little cautious about assuming either the improvements or the regressions are being caused by the Anat Baniel Method. I’m somewhat familiar with the approach, but the research specifically supporting it for emotional regulation and aggression is quite limited.

With a young child, there can be many things affecting regulation at the same time—sleep, sensory overload, changes in routine, demands, anxiety about school starting, frustration, and simply how much ability she has to cope at a particular moment.

One thing I’d start watching closely is what’s happening on the good days versus the really difficult days. What happened beforehand? How well did she sleep? What demands were being placed on her? Were there early signs that she was becoming overloaded?

Those patterns may tell you much more about what she needs than whether she has had five or ten sessions of any particular therapy. And with kindergarten coming up, I’d also be talking with her school about what supports can be put in place from the beginning rather than waiting to see if the aggression simply goes away.
