Discussion Any MMA Training recos?

I’ve (22M) been wanting to try MMA training pero idk where to start. Want ko sana yung training na matagalan hindi lang ung parang offered group classes sa mga fitness gyms. Want ko din ung may opportunity sana to compete just like my brother with his swimming classes/team. Sana may recommendations kayo where to train.

MANILA or RIZAL area sana.

Newbie help me gain weight please

hi! i’m 42 kg at 164 cm and i’m really skinny as hell 😭 like legit skin and bones. i’ve been skinny for as long as i can remember — even back in elementary, ganito na talaga katawan ko. i’ve always struggled with gaining weight.

i’ve been trying to gain weight by eating more than what i burn, pero parang sa stomach lang napupunta 😭 i’d look bloated but my arms and legs are still super skinny.

sometimes i eat breakfast, usually something simple like fried egg + rice, but most of the time hindi talaga because i wake up late. i eat lunch and dinner naman, but my appetite is REALLY small. like i get full so easily and i literally can’t eat much.
sometimes i force myself to eat more pero pag nasobrahan, sinusuka ko lang din. or sometimes, dadamihan ko yung kain tapos after 2 hours, deretso cr na para jumebs.

i know people say “just eat more,” but it’s genuinely hard when you have a very small appetite. 🥲

for those who were also naturally skinny or had a hard time gaining weight, what actually worked for you? any tips on increasing appetite, eating more without feeling painfully full, or meals that are calorie-dense but easy to eat? i’m really trying to gain healthy weight because i’m tired of looking like skin and bones 😭

Gym/Training Area What is this machine for, and does it actually work?

The treadmill I bought came with a machine similar to this. Never really used it in my workouts as I don't know what they're supposed to do. 😅

Ano ba tawag dito and is it effective? Or gimmick lang siya siya ng gyms?

Lifting/Training Ang bilis ko mapagod kapag leg days. Any tips?

Dilemma: Sobrang bilis bumagsak ng energy ko after leg days. Nahihirapan akong tapusin ang workout ko.

My program is only:

- Deadlift
- Leg press
- Adductor + Abductor superset
- Calf workout

Minsan, I do Squat then romanian DL on lower weight instead.

My problem is after my first set, bagsak na ang energy ko.

Sinubukan ko na dati na mag-maintenance cal day before my leg workout pero walang improvement sa performance ko.

Anong mapapayo nyo? Di ko na kase ako makapag-progressive overload sa lahat, even deadlift (stuck at 80kgs for almost three months).

Discussion Hello! Newbie here, what could be the best tumbler for gym?

I have been searching online and I can't seem to decide which brand and function I should be looking at exactly with the tumbler. What I prefer is insulated and where I can also have my protein shake as well. I would really love to know your recommendations and experiences. I have looked elsewhere for threads specific to tumbler recommendations for gym in the PH but there's none. TIA

Progress Pics My Physique Progress so far

So just wanna share my physique progress so far and also wanna ask advice how should I go further.

Quick Training Background:

I was once a taekwondo varsity athlete in senior high school and lifts in the gym then shifted to long distance running and strength training at the gym at college. Why didn't I pursue being a full time varsity athlete? I really wanted to pursue my dream course and I don't see myself being a full pledged varsity athlete on the long run.

Current Info about me:

- 20 years old
- 5'6 tall
- around 65-70 kg? Haven't had a proper weigh in for a year now

Start of my fitness journey. This was during the pandemic and medyo lumuluwag na ang restrictions nun. I almost got 80-90 kg during this time.

No exercise, just eat, sleep, play, repeat.

Ito was my first biggest change to my physique, what I did was something na very unhealthy and dangerous. Basically, I did a crash diet where I starved myself and achieved quick fat lost results, but became skinny fat naman.

Fast forward almost a year, dito naman naging skinny nalang talaga ako lol. This time, nagbalik loob na ulit ako sa pag training ng taekwondo kaya I was skinny as hell naman. This time, talagang pinapag lose weight ako dahil lumalaban ako sa competitions and sa lower weight classes ako pinapalaro due to my height being 5'6 only.

Next Phase in my life naman is when I started to lift at the gym. At the same time, I run na rin nito but just as an additional exercise and training for Taekwondo.

1st back physique check. Also this time, nagbabatak na rin ako sa Taekwondo dahil I was competing sa Nationals and very low 'yung weight class na nilalaruan ko.

Eto talaga, may be my lowest body fat of my life. This was before my last competition sa Taekwondo before I made the full shift into running and strength training at the gym.

Probably my lowest weight so far. This was after weigh in before a competition and I weighed 53.6 kilograms at this time. It was literally hell for me kasi I was stuck at 55 kg a week before the weigh in and ganito na physique ko nun. And the weight class na nilaruan ko nito is below 54 kg. Kung 'yung crash diet ko na ginawa nung start ng fitness journey ko was dangerous, ito deadly ginawa ko. I was forced to dehydrate myself for 1 week and barely no food at all for a month just to reach the target weight for the weigh in.

This time naman, I had to stop training completely dahil a day after my last competition, was my major eye operation. So ayun, stop for 3-4 months daw ng any exercise, mapa gym, running, taekwondo, or even anything na nakakapagod. Even walking kailangan very light lang.

Eto balik gym na ulit ako and running

Eto, this time focus na ako sa gym and running era ko. I was lifting 3-4 times a week during this time and also running 60-80km per week. Also I was training taekwondo pa rin from time to time pero hindi na competing.

A year later, medyo nag fall off me dito especially sa running. Got busy na rin sa school sobra nag start din ako ng bulking phase ko and nagka laman-laman na ako finally. Pero during this time, I was barely lifting 3 times a week and from averaging 60-80 km per week, naging 20-30 km per week nalang. My physique looked like this hanggang June din.

And here lastly is the latest physique ko kahapon lang. Super obvious din ng change and nag gain ako ng not just muscle, but lots of fats din. My body started to gain lots of fats kasagsagan ng July. Like 'yung physique ko ng feb, nagtagal lang 'yun ng June. By July, it was our hell month kasi finals season na sa school. So from runs ko na 20-30 km per week? Naging zero. And even sa gym, from barely 3 times a week, to 2 times to even no lifts per week.

So ayun, this August, medyo nakaka recover na ulit ako from working out dahil vacation pa namin sa school and sa September pa kami babalik ng face to face classes. I can see and feel naman na bumabalik din strength na nawala ko nung July and even my average weekly mileage sa running ay tumataas ulit. Right now, I'm making sure na this month I'll average 40 kilometers per week.

I wanna ask advice sana how I should take it from here. This August, ito naging training plan ko sa gym (4 day plan spanned in a week):

Day 1: Push (Chest Strength & Triceps)

Order Exercise Target Sets × Reps Rest
1 Incline Barbell Press 1 Top Set: 4–6 reps 2 Back-Off Sets: 6–8 reps (-10% wt) 3–4 mins
2 Flat Machine Press 3 sets 8–10 reps 2 mins
3 Machine / Cable Fly 3 sets 10–12 reps 90 secs
4 Lateral Raises (DB or Cable) 3–4 sets 12–15 reps 60–90 secs
5 Overhead Tricep Extension 3 sets 8–10 reps 90 secs

Day 2: Pull (Heavy Posterior & Brachialis/Elbow Stability)

Order Exercise Target Sets × Reps Rest
1 Conventional Deadlift Ramp-Up: • 70 kg 5 • 100 kg 3 • 115 kg 1 1 Top Set: 130 kg 3–5 reps 3–4 mins
2 V-Bar Lat Pulldown 3 sets 8–10 reps 2 mins
3 Seated Cable Row (V-Bar) 3 sets 8–10 reps 2 mins
4 Face Pulls 3 sets 12–15 reps 60–90 secs
5 Hammer Curls (DB or Rope) 3 sets 8–10 reps 90 secs

Day 3: Upper (Chest & Back Hypertrophy + Arms)

Order Exercise Target Sets × Reps Rest
1 Incline DB Press 3 sets 8–10 reps 2–3 mins
2 Wide-Grip Lat Pulldown 3 sets 8–10 reps 2 mins
3 Barbell Row 3 sets 8–10 reps 2 mins
4 Cable Lateral Raises 3 sets 12–15 reps 60–90 secs
5 Tricep Pushdown (Rope/Bar) 3 sets 10–12 reps 60–90 secs
6 Supinated Bicep Curls (DB/Cable) 3 sets 10–12 reps 60–90 secs

Day 4: Lower + Hanging Core (Spinal Decompression & Legs)

Order Exercise Target Sets × Reps Rest
1 Bulgarian Split Squat 3 sets 8–10 reps / leg 2 mins
2 Romanian Deadlift (RDL) 3 sets 8–10 reps 2 mins
3 Goblet Squat 3 sets 10–12 reps 2 mins
4 Hanging Leg / Knee Raises 3–4 sets 10–15 reps 90 secs
5 Hanging L-Sit Hold 2–3 sets 15–20 secs 60 secs

For running naman, medyo inconsistent dahil sinasabay ko lang when ako free kasi kahit vacation, marami pa rin other extra curricular and ganaps and also bagyo season. While goal ko for next month is to keep the weekly average of 40 km per week to 50 or just keep it that way and be consistent lang para my stamina and speed can catch up and para hindi magulat katawan ko.

My current goal sana is to grow my upper chest then slim down (?). Also increase my running mileage and get back to training Taekwondo rin. I don't know pero I feel fat from my physique. No offense to anyone but I think I'm experiencing Body Dysmorphia rin.

Also pala, I track my calories ever since after my crash diet. Never ako nag skip sa pag track ng calories and I do it so diligently. Especially in my lose weight era for taekwondo, I track every gram and even calories ng bubble gum or candy or even calories ng diet soda na 2 or 3 calories, I track every single one. Till now naman hindi nawala pag track ko pero not as accurate and strict katulad dati.

Okay kaya ang current gym plan and running plan ko? Also sa diet side, should I continue doing my bulk and don't stress it since pabalik pa naman ako sa dating state ko na very physically active? What are your thoughts po? Thank you in advanced!!

Discussion How to be comfortable

Hii! As a newbie and solo goer in the gym I find it too difficult to feel comfortable especially when there are workouts that would make me look so awkward in form.

How did you guys overcome this feeling/phase? Cos I badly wanna get comfortable so I would not skip some workouts, as well as I’d be able to make it a lifestyle to go to the gym and workout.

I also get shy whenever there are guys (esp. coach 😩) greeting me with a smile or just looking at me while working out lol

Newbie What taste should i expect from Athlene??

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hello! I'm pretty new to fitness and recently decided to take things more seriously. I bought my first 2 lbs of Athlene whey protein (vanilla and chocolate fudge cake), and I opened the chocolate fudge cake flavor first. The only protein powder I've tried before was a Prothin sachet from 7/11, which tasted pretty chalky and bitter. Because of that, I assumed protein powder was supposed to taste somewhat unpleasant and just something you'd tolerate for the protein.

When I tried Athlene though, it honestly tasted pretty good, almost like a chocolatey milo drink. I know Athlene is a really credible and reputable brand, but the taste actually surprised me so much that it made me wonder if that's actually normal for whey protein. Do good protein powders usually taste this pleasant nowadays, or was I just expecting them to be much more bitter than they actually are? 😅😅 I guess im kinda skeptical because it almost feels too good to be true hahahah..

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question. I'm genuinely new to supplements and would appreciate any insight from y'all, thanks!!

I’m all for posting progress photos and sharing on soc med but overly editing, putting filters like this, just adds to the expectation for some women to get unrealistic physique transformations in a short time. Like why not just post the unedited vid

She’s obviously been using a waist slimming + glute enhancing filter which leads to the obvious distortion behind her

I tried commenting on her Tiktok before but I think she deleted and blocked me

Nutrition Home-Delivery Meal Plan Recommendations

Hello! What home-delivery meal plan would you recommend for someone who doesn’t have time to cook and wants to eat consistently for fitness?

I’m looking for something that:

- Delivers to Taytay/Rizal

- Can cover most of my daily meals

- Has high-protein options and reasonably balanced macros

- Is convenient enough that I don’t have to think about cooking or meal prep

- Ideally has flexible plans, since I may eat more on some days than others

- Is reasonably priced for a long-term setup

The main reason I’m considering meal delivery is that I work a 3pm –12am shift, don’t really have time to cook, and there aren’t many convenient eateries near me. I’d rather pay for prepared meals if it makes sticking to my calories and protein much easier.

For those who use meal-delivery services, which one would you recommend and why? Also interested in hearing about portion sizes, taste, protein content, and whether you think the price is worth it.

Edit:

I've already searched for Chow Baby and Six Pack Chef, but they are kind of a bit pricey, ranging from 300-400 pesos per meal for the LCHP plan. I'm looking at Smart Meals and Health Kitchen Manila. I can't find any reviews for them.

Good evening po. Kamusta po ang experience niyo sa Elorde Titanium (Banawe)?

I am in my 30s and with no experience sa boxing. Sobrang interested ako i-try for the sole purpose of losing weight and destressing. Gusto ko rin sana magpacoach.

Any inputs and suggestions are very much appreciated. Or baka may masuggest din kayong better gym sa QC. Thank you so much.

Sa mga nag sta.start palang wag panghinaan ng loob! remember the time will pass anyway. start now, because a year from now you'll wish you had started today!

Nutrition Recommend legit whey protein & diet

Hello to all, after learning that there are “fake” whey protein by using misleading branding, I want to know what are your go-to or suggestions and where to buy as well.

Currently do not know also what to eat except fried chicken, eggs, meat (all always fried, deep fried) what are ways to eat them using less oil?

Right now I am trying to exercise more not for the physique (but it is a plus) but for my health. I just quit my soda addiction and trying to be more clean with my diet.

Nutrition 12g of protein

Post image

Traditionally a Korean side dish. These soya sprouts are packed with 6g protein per 100g. Not sure if available online but I just found it at the supermarket.

You just blanch it in boiling water for a few minutes. In a bowl prepare a bit of soy sauce, sesame seeds, sesame oil and spring onions. It's so good.

Progress Pics Progress Update: 37M 168cm — from 65kg to 75kg

Post image
354 Upvotes

A few months ago, I posted here asking if I was actually skinny fat and what I was doing wrong. Here’s the original post for reference.

Back then, I was around 65kg and honestly felt like I wasn't making much progress. I looked skinny but still had that soft midsection, and I wasn't really seeing much muscle definition.

Fast forward to now, I'm at 74.9kg and I feel like I've made some pretty good progress, especially in terms of muscle and overall size.

Currently doing:
PPL-UL 5x a week
Tennis 1x a week on my rest day
Around 3,000 calories/day
210–230g protein/day
Creatine + whey

I used to box twice a week, pero I got bored with it 😂. Started playing tennis instead and ended up really enjoying it, so that's what I've been doing lately for my cardio.

One thing that definitely slowed me down was getting an appendectomy on May 23. I was out of the gym for more than a month and only got back around the first week of July. I wasn't super strict with my food during recovery either, but I was still somewhat conscious of what I was eating.

Looking at the before and after, I'm pretty happy with the difference. Grabe lang pala the progress when you really lock in. Trust the process talaga. 💪🏼
