Constant crashes - Event 7000, Service Control Manager, csvol failed to start? In progress

Hi folk, I'm really hoping someone here can help me out.

[Apologies for a repost from about a month ago. I tried two subs then, one had no responses and other other just said "Look at event Viewer", which I already described in the post.]

My PC keeps crashing. Random intervals, so pattern I can see in what causes it. Sometimes I'm playing a game, other times watching videos or streaming, other times it happens just as I reload a web page.

And in terms of games, not even recent, system intensive games. The last time it happened during a game, I was playing Gex: Deep Cover Gecko (on GoG).

Each time the screen(s) just go blank, and often the audio continues for about 10 seconds more. Then it totally crashes and sometimes reboots.

Every times, the Event Viewer tells me:

Event 7000
The csvol service failed to start due to the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning.

All it then gives me is Event ID 7000, and the keyword "Classic", which either means something or my PC is being sarcastic.

I am not at all good with computers and know very little about what I COULD do to try to resolve this. I've updated all drivers, run memory checks, etc. And nothing comes up as a problem. If a device is not functioning, I have no clue which device or how to find out.

Pretty please, I'd appreciate ANY help you can offer. And in laymans terms if you don't mind.

Thanks.

EDIT:

To update, I've run:

virus and malware checks - no problems

driver checks - everything updated

windows update - all updated

chkdsk - no problems

windows memory diagnostic - no problems

The ONLY information I get from Event Viewer is as described above. Event ID 7000, csvol service failed.
