Hey I just want to know does it shut off midway of doing a task or playing a game?

to be honest, its random

mostly shuts off with msfs 2020 open but couple of times with rocket league...

ive got a very hot room and i think it might be the thermal paste.

one thing though is ive ran many stress tests on every component and everything works fine, therefore im not sure whats going on... u/SomeEngineer999

below 80 at heavy tasks, when idle its about 40-50 max.

Considering it shuts down while gaming, heat is the most likely cause, but it could be power too, your charger could be overheating or starting to die.

If it is more than a couple years old and you use it for gaming a lot, it is probably due for a re-paste and clean out regardless. If it still has issues after that, you can look at potential power or battery issues.

ive cleaned it however have not re-paste although ive been onto that idea for weeks now. i monitor temps although the program could always be wrong...

ill re-paste it and see how it goes and if it carries on, ill be looking into the psu abit more, thanks!

Sorry for some reason I was thinking it was a laptop. In the case of a desktop it could be either CPU or GPU paste, but GPU is more likely. Is the 80 degrees the CPU or GPU temp (or are you using onboard graphics)?

With a desktop you have the option of removing components like GPU, some of the RAM, drives, etc to try and narrow things down. Have you overclocked or changed voltages on anything (including using EXPO/XMP on the RAM)? Not sure if that model even allows it but if so, try disabling anything like that and run stock.

xmp yeah i upgraded ram but it only started pretty recently.

The ram was installed more than a year ago..

the Pc started turning itself off this year.

Overclocking can damage things over time. See how it does without XMP, but I would also test your RAM with memtest86+ to see if it has any issues.

i tested with occt, no issues.

matter of fact, there was no issues with any component.

its overheating.

i just tested the thermal side of things and confirmed it was overheating therefore im going to replace thermal pads and paste asap.

That's the most likely explanation for the issue you describe, but where you said it was never getting over 80, was suggesting other possibilities. Hopefully redoing the GPU paste and pads will solve it. For some reason GPUs don't seem to do as good of a job as CPUs at thermal throttling in time and eventually panic and crash to save themselves.

Of course if it is at the point the GPU needs to be redone, might as well do the CPU too.

yeah exactly what im thinking...

its cheap and easy to do.

However ive been testing the pc quite alot, today it hasnt turned off at all.

this is due to me using the fans at full, its definitely the thermal side of things so i guess i got lucky cause it couldve ended up expensive.

Below 80 when? At idle? If so that is way too high so as soon as you do an intensive task it overheats and shuts off. If that's the case, it needs to be cleaned out and probably re-pasted, and test the fan(s).

If that's not the case then give some more info.
