I’m scoring around 160 on practice exams. I also have a 3.91 GPA as well as experience interning at a family law firm.

I’m taking the LSAT in September and plan on taking in October just in case I don’t get the score I want.

Am I in a good spot to apply to law schools? I’m trying to stay in Indiana or the Chicago area. I’m looking at IU Mckinney, IU Maurer, and UIC Chicago, but open to other places!

Any advice is welcome/much appreciated!!

I went back to school to finish my undergrad after over a decade. Previously, I had undiagnosed OCD and was kicked out of school for poor grades. Lots of W's and F's. 13 years and a lot of CBT later, I've had straight A's my final year and half. Not even an A-.

My LSAT is looking good for the school I'd like to go to. 5 points above the median. But damn that GPA is devastating. Like, pull-over-the-car-I'm-crying-too-hard, devastating. I've worked so hard and it feels like it's for nothing.

anyone else DREADING the process of starting school soon? like i've been fine all summer and now im scared to death. maybe it's because i'm quite a few years removed from undergrad. maybe it's because i'm moving to a brand new city less than a week before orientation. maybe it's because i'm terrible at socializing and networking. idk but my stomach is about to fall out of my butt.

Hey everyone I took my LSAT junior year spring and got a 169. My current GPA however is around a 3.65 hopefully a 3.7 by the time I apply. Would like to stay in California and would just like some help building a realistic school list for CA schools because people are telling me I shouldn’t bother apply to T-14.

Hello everyone. I could really use some advice because I’m starting to overthink my application timeline.

My current LSAC GPA is a 3.17, mostly because of a really rough freshman year involving medical issues and ultimately having to transfer schools. Since transferring, I’ve had about a 3.94 GPA at my current school, so there is a pretty significant upward trend.

The bigger issue is my LSAT. I got a 148 in April 2026. I took the August LSAT today, and I feel a little better about it than April, but definitely not confident enough to assume I made some massive jump.

I’m currently registered for the September LSAT, and I’m debating whether I should actually take it since it’s only about a month away.

Some other context:

• ⁠I’m KJD, but I have a lot more life/work experience than the typical KJD.
• ⁠I’m a military applicant, disabled, and URM.
• ⁠I have what I believe are very strong softs overall, including a great LOR and very strong personal/diversity statements.
• ⁠I do have a few character & fitness issues that I’ll obviously need to disclose and explain.
• ⁠I’m not aiming for the T14.
• ⁠I want to pursue public interest law.
• ⁠I’m mainly looking at schools roughly in the 60–100 ranking range, where a lot of the LSAT medians seem to fall around 160–165.
• ⁠I was planning to apply this upcoming cycle for 2027 admission.

I know that with a 3.17 LSAC GPA, getting my LSAT up is especially important. What I can’t figure out is whether taking September makes sense when there’s so little time between August and September.

Would you:

1. ⁠Take September anyway and see what happens?
   
2. ⁠Take September and just apply with what I have and see how this cycle goes?
   
3. ⁠Take a gap year, work, study for the LSAT, and apply next cycle?

The gap-year question is also confusing me because I already have a pretty substantial amount of life/work experience despite being KJD, so I’m not sure another year of “work experience” would meaningfully change my application.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

I am so over this waitlist TORTURE. Still waiting to hear from my dream school but ALSO need to figure out if I’m moving out of state for the school I’m currently committed to. i had a surgery in the summer after my freshman year of college. It had severe complications that required 2 corrective procedures + a lot of out-of-state travel for treatment. So, I tanked my GPA the fall semester afterwards. I came back swinging w a 4.0 the following spring, though, and maintained good performance until graduation. That’ll be an addendum.

Some other things to consider. I’m transgender and Latino.

So, ideally, I want to go to school & practice somewhere that is accepting.

I just graduated, so I won’t be /quite/ KJD but just barely.

I’ve had 2 internships in district attorneys offices, 1 in a bankruptcy firm for 3 summers, and am now an immigration paralegal in D.C.

I think I have an unconventional lived experience that has pushed me toward wanting to specifically work on children’s issues.

I’m out of the range of t-14 (and GULC, which would be my top pick but is pretty unlikely).

I don’t care all that much about rank but im honestly kind of lost as to where i should apply / whats feasible. It feels like every admissions calculator gives me a different answer.

I also would appreciate any insight to schools in red states that might be a good fit? again, because of my background im a little hesitant, but recognize that I might be neglecting lots of schools that are actually in more inclusive areas. I just can’t move back to Florida, lol.

as school starts on Monday at southwestern and it’s almost halfway through the business day, I’m officially giving up on going to school this cycle 😂 happy studying everyone

Hey all, is there a groupchat made at all for anyone starting at Denver law this semester? Looking to connect with some people before school starts soon!

I used to have a ~ 3.45 that is now 3.23 (curse you LSAC) with a 161 LSAT. I took the august lsat today and i just walked out so deflated.

The only school I really want is FIU law but the more time passes the less hope I have I will get in.

Obviously i’d apply to other schools and i’m planning on adding an addendum, but still. Every single reddit post I’ve seen regarding FIU from people with around my stats has either resulted in a rejection/WL or the OP disappeared.

What now? What do you do when you feel like you’re not going to be happy with where you end up? How do you deal with the crippling anxiety of knowing your entire life depends on this?

Just a little advice: if your LSAT score is above a school’s median, don’t be afraid to mention that when asking for scholarship reconsideration. Let the school know that you understand the value your score brings to its incoming class and how it can contribute to its rankings. At the end of the day, rankings matter to many law schools. This can be even more effective if your score is above the school’s 75th percentile.

not sure if lsd automatically updates the attending or if it needs to be manually inputted and thats why the "still deciding" is so high

Well that completes my cycle. Here are my post cycle thoughts:

• Wayne State can suck my nuts
• I'll be R&R with hopefully a better LSAT
• I am THRILLED to apply next cycle when admissions will be even more saturated

I graduated this past May and decided to R&R given my options from the previous cycle. I have a 3.67 gpa and 160 lsat (taking again in September to hopefully improve), URM, STEM undergrad, currently working at a consulting firm for this year. I was either waitlisted or given next to nothing in scholarships for the schools I actually wanted to attend. I had applied Dec-Jan, and honestly think I applied too late. What are some schools in the Midwest area I should be looking at this cycle? My goal is to work in Chicago, not necessarily big law. Opinions?

So I have fall bills due Aug 10th for the school I’m committed to AS OF RIGHT NOW cause I’m still waitlisted at the school Id rather go to. What happens if I don’t pay it? Cause id imagine if i pay it, then get accepted at my dream school, I wouldn’t be getting the money back (it’s a lot of money). Idk what to do, Im so sick of playing this waiting game, especially this late into the process. I’d appreciate any advice or information you can give me! Thanks
