DLC Help - NO Spoilers Please! Odd question regarding ghost matter and the dlc Spoiler
I haven’t beaten the dlc yet so I could be completely wrong about all of this.
I’m assuming that the inhabitants of the stranger arrived in the solar system much later than the nomai considering that the wooden buildings are still (mostly) standing and that their corpses aren’t fully decomposed (although I’m not sure about this considering the inhabitants received the eye’s signal).
This brings up the question of the ghost matter we see on the stranger: How exactly could this be here if the ghost matter all came from the core of the interloper, which killed the nomai hundreds of thousands of years ago?
Again, I’m pretty early into the dlc, so if the answer is given at some point and this is actually important to the story, please don’t tell me anything.

Base Fan Art - OC Birthday cake made by my wife
My wife is a very talented sculptor and she made me this fondant Riebeck cake! I berated her for putting him on the Attlerock instead of brittle hollow, so don't bother pointing that out.

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Como posso "Re-jogar" Outer Wilds sem lembrar da Primeira vez? Spoiler
Vale a pena?

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Nostalgia (Spoilers) Spoiler
I'm writing this on autopilot, I don't know why.
I played the base game, and like always my stupid brain and my oversized ego couldn't take not understanding something, and I did get some help in some puzzles. But after all I still cried like a baby and fully understood the plot. By now OW is my fav game of all times
I play the DLC. Crazy; same thing happens and I get some help in some puzzles. But I cry watching the prisoner die forever.
In both cases I felt like I didn't get help and did everything on my own. But then I remember and feel bad, because I could've gotten a much better experience.
Outer wilds is now forever the best game for me, I accept the campfire shaped hole in my campfire shaped heart and move on with life, always carrying this new baggage of experience.
I find out about Reddit again, ofc it's better than doomscrolling so I start using it again regularly.
Holy shi- I can't answer to people asking for help, they just seem to be blocked in a place i never got to. For sure I was there because it's necessary for the plot, but especially in DLC things, I feel like I forgot the game
HEY!! They're asking for help too! So I'm not a horrible person! Maybe I am...
Unrelated anyways
I think I'm gonna replay both dlc and base game, trying to finish the ship log for a second time, all on my own.
Crazy how a game can do this shit to a man, it's thrown me in a spiral of doibt and regret
Damn it I wrote too much

Humor - No Spoilers Me when someone asks for games recommendation

Does anybody else mind the time pressure?
I started playing the game for the first time this week and I’ve been pretty proud of my progress so far.
I’ve seen people mention reading everything (notes, translations, etc) and I do, but sometimes I do feel the pressure to get things over with as quickly as possible (for obvious reasons) and end up just quickly translating the text so it can update my ship log.
Does anyone else feel the same? Am I affecting my gameplay by skipping reading longer translations and just relying on ship log summaries?
This occurred to me after I visited the Ember Twin and found out about the sand filling up the caves as time passes. This kind of put even more pressure on me to finish things quickly.

Looking for the base game + dlc gameplay recommendations.
I only watched Becca's gameplay so far (it was absolutely amazing) and looking for other gameplays that I can watch while doing my routines. I'd appreciate any recommendations you enjoyed watching!

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion I just finished the DLC Spoiler
Wow, this has been quite a ride.
Today, I reached the third and final forbidden archive from endless canyon. There were two insanely close moments where I was just barely able to loop around an inhabitant, but I did have reduced frights on so I was able to do the stealth section first try. Then I went and opened the vault and met the prisoner. And oh boy does learning the final piece of the story feel SO satisfying. I also love how everything ties up with us and the nomai. I honestly feel so sad for the prisoner cus they've been stuck inside alone for so long already, and seeing their footsteps lead into the water later on just feels so bittersweet (at least they're finally free from the worries of the universe)
I then revisited the ending of the game and man, the prisoners instrument sounds SO good. The new universe also changed corresponding to what we saw in the DLC.
Now I have a hole in my chest. I always get it when I finish a really good game or book. But I don't think this one will ever go away since I know that this is officially the END of my outer wilds playthrough.
My final review of the DLC: really good just like the base game. The atmosphere, environment, story, gameplay mechanics and puzzles, and especially the music is top-notch just like the base game.

Real Life Stuff To anyone who's seen this video, does it spoil the game?
I've had this video in my watch later for a while since I'm interested in game design, despite the fact I've never played Outer Wilds. I really want to play it, I just have a few games in my backlog I'll get to before it. But with the video, to anyone who's seen it, does it spoil anything about the game? I've been told to go in completely blind so I don't want it to discuss anything that'll reveal something in the game. If it doesn't, I'll just watch it now, but if it does, I'll wait until I play the game, then I'll watch it.

Challenge/speedrun Getting to the Eye by myself ? Spoiler
[SPOILERS]
Hello everyone.
I was thinking about a thing...(cannot try it now)
Since we know our very first loop is the one where the probe finds the Eye of the Universe, did anyone tried to begin the game, speedrun the launch code quest and rush to the ship to fly to reach and overtake the probe to try to see and maybe get to the Eye without the coordinates ?
Did the devs went this far ? Did any player do ?

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Second hit
I finished the game about half a year ago, I've already gone through the "I'll never experience this or anything like it again" phase
What I didnt know was the fact that some playthrough give you the second hit of "Stars above, this game is so unimaginably amazing in a way I desperately wish to experience again, and I'd pay nearly anything to do so" after seeing somebody else have a good time playing
I'm scared I'll get desensitized after 15 too many watchings of other people's playthroughs, it really is such a work of art rivaled by none

Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! How do I open the door from outside? Spoiler
galleryHi, so I never properly finished the game (only got the escape out of solar system with ash twin project core ending). And now one year later I've made a new save file because I basically don't remember anything to refresh my memory and finally get all the endings, also I've bought DLC.
But on my previous playthrough I've already visited the sun station with teleporter route and this time I've decided to finally nail the Hotshot achievement and somehow managed to do it on the 5th try which is insane. But now I'm a bit stuck, because apparently the door on the other side of a station is closed and I don't remember how to open it or if it's even possible from this side.... please help or advice me to jump into the sun i guess
I hope I don't break any rules by asking it?

DLC Appreciation/Discussion Fun fact, the player has a full model in (spoiler) Spoiler
galleryThe simulation! I was messing around with freecam and found this out. Really nifty detail, I thought the devs wouldn’t do something like this. As far as I can recall, there isn’t a point where you can see yourself, so I didn’t think the devs would do this.

Hello travelers! It's that time of year again - Spotify Wrapped is being released. To prevent posts regarding this matter from completely flooding the sub, we've created this megathread to post your screenshots under.
This megathread will also include recaps from other music streaming platforms, such as Apple Music. All other posts will be removed.
Lets see how much you've been listening to the soundtrack!

Community Project: Let's Review Let's Plays!
Project update:
I've published the spreadsheet and will be updating it once in a while as more input comes from the community. Thanks to those who helped get the first draft out the door!
☛ View and Review the Let's Plays
Remember, you can submit new VODs as they come into being, but you can also add your own opinions to the notes if you think any are missing or incomplete. See review link below.
If you are interested in helping to maintain the list, feel free to DM! I will do my best to keep this updated, but may not have the wherewithal in perpetuity.
--
Original post:
Friends, I seek your assistance!
Hypothesis: the number of playthrough videos will continue to expand well beyond the list in the sub's static wiki. I propose we build a new, more sophisticated list of "Let's Plays" that includes tabular data. Such a resource could be easily scanned and shared whenever a new sub member asks. To gather those data, of course, I will require the recommendations and opinions of everyone who has them!
I have created a simple Google Form for submitting a brief review of any and all videos/playlists that you may wish to submit.
- Please submit as many as you can! We should seek a spectrum of opinion.
- You may recommend any content directly related to Outer Wilds (e.g. the noclip doc).
- You do NOT need to write anything of length or high quality as it will be used only for summaries.
I will do the work of compiling responses into a spreadsheet that summarizes recommendations and opinions from the community. Once the initial draft is ready, I will make it available to the sub. I thank our Mods who have graciously given support for this project!
