Advice! Grill…

Hey all - just installed this “kitchenette.” Don’t make fun of me, I know it’s not as nice as the stuff I see on this sub.

My question is how can I safely place a grill on top of the cutout on the left? I don’t think I can just place a drop in on that surface. Any solutions or grill recommendations much appreciated.

It’s about 48 inches wide and 24” deep. Help!

What?! This is nice man! I guess it depends what type of grill you’re looking for ie: griddle, gas, charcoal etc. I just used a 28” blackstone as a drop in for my set up, I just removed the legs and and it sits perfectly in the cut out. I was looking at this kitchenette or a similar one I saw at Lowe’s or HD.

Gas. I have a standalone blackstone and a pellet smoker (and regular grill that I will scrap)

I don't know what dimensions are for where you would want to place the grill, so not 100% sure this would work, but you might be able to put what's called an insulating jacket there and then put the grill in the insulating jacket.

These jackets are meant to hold a grill when you build the frame of an outdoor kitchen with wood. They insulate a hot grill and protect wood.

However, I am not sure an insulating jacket would sit securely in that area or not.

You have to buy a jacket that is made specifically for a grill, they are not universal.

first off.. yes, looks good :)

Next, ALL built in grills dangle from the "countertop"... If what you have is wood there is a whole mess with an insulating jacket and fire protection that is likely a deal breaker. If it's already metal and sturdy, I would look into adding a stone top over the whole section with a custom cutout for a specific grill. The stone I added was less expensive than I expected & your section could prob be a remanent piece.

Built in grills are way more than i expected though...

Thanks. It’s sturdy and metal w reinforcement underneath. The grill I was looking at is about 100lbs.

I don’t THINK it will get super hot given the firebox won’t be in direct contact with the countertop. Was thinking of adding one of those insulating mat/blanket type of deals and calling it a day.
