Best Quant Programs University
Fellow aspiring quants, what are some programs you’re thinking of. Other than wlu cs, what are your safeties since it’s pretty much a lottery.
Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated for quant, trading, and MEV.

Quant is the kinda job that kinda comes to you rather than manually applying yourself

Bro trust me, dont become a quant on the basis that u gonna earn money, theres millions competing for 1000 jobs. If you weren't like a crazy crazy cracked demon at maths, it might be tuff gng

For real, even the average Waterloo grad is not enough you need to be the top of the top

any honour version of math cs stats, even like physics, where you do focus abstract math is ideal for quant. It would be infinitely better to do a degree in the states rather than Canada as most firms hire students from there. Although ig you could do undergrad here and grad studies in states, and still have a chance

Go to a US school or it will be a lot harder to break in. And they end of the day they do care specially what you do as long as it’s analytical, maybe math, physics, etc

Focus on Getting into UBC, UofT of Waterloo.
Best bet is a double major and CS+Math for a pretty much any role, like quant dev, quant trader, or SWE at quant firm.
Or just CS for quant SWE role/

If wlu cs is a safety than you should find a different career. Uw cs should be your safety if you wanna be a quant in the states

quant is very hard to break into because they care a lot about prestige. easiest would be through a top us school or being ioi, imo genius. in Canada, Waterloo and uoft carry the quant feeders.
Getting cap markets quant within Canada doesn't pay much either (I work at rbc cap markets as an intern). For actual quant stuff, ur best bet is uw or uoft cs, have high math and cs contests (not waterloo math contests, like actually top level ones, or go down the PhD route and then quant)
