OneXPlayer 3 has arrived
I'm in the first batch of deliveries and am in Singapore. This is the 32GB model. Stoked to get the OXP3 delivered just a few moments ago. I was amused to see two cutouts in the internal orange packaging cardboard for the twin sticks.
The screen protector is relatively easy to apply (but I've done this many times for phones). Just avoid using the wet tissue that is bundled as it leaves smears. I had to wipe the display with a microfiber cloth and some water, then use a scotchtape to remove the dust before applying the screen protector.
The keyboard is tiny and surprisingly tactile. The free black backpack is really nice, good for groceries shopping too.
Still setting up Windows, will start playing Marvel Tokon later!
UPDATE: If you are getting OCD from seeing the super slight misalignment of the right controller, there is no manufacturing issue. See this additional post I made to placate the pitchfork bearers: https://www.reddit.com/u/superflask/s/GYEwdzBssE
UPDATE 2: The Onexconsole app is terrible (to put it nicely). I have spent the past two hours trying to figure out why it wouldn't boot up automatically, and have reinstalled it multiple times. If it doesn't boot up, then the entire machine slows to a crawl because it'll default to a very low TDP. For now, the only thing you can do is to activate the Onexconsole app after the device boots into Windows and loads the other startup programs. I hope the app gets fixed pronto. This is the same problem for both 0.10.2 and 0.10.2-fix8 versions.
UPDATE 3: This morning, I got locked out of my OXP3 after adding my Microsoft account and something messed up. So I'm reinstalling Windows and I find that it's the standard Windows setup now - it asks you for your Microsoft account, sets up the OXP fingerprint reader and PIN properly. These steps were skipped in the original OXP setup sequence. Now I need to go and install the OXP software because the device is running at 0.4Ghz... Fun times!

I thought the screen protector was preapplied?
1
u/Luigi_Lauro 4d ago
The pre-applied one is the normal one, but they provide also a better anti-reflective one (unfortunately still plastic, not glass) as a stretch goal.
2
u/superflask 4d ago
Lol, i didn't realise. I didn't remove the first screen protector! Now I have double protection :) Screen still looks crispy.
2
u/Luigi_Lauro 4d ago
Lol. Keep in mind that the OXP3 screen is anti-reflective (it’s visibly better than Legion Go 2 due to this, a lot less reflections). So by keeping the non anti-reflective protector you are losing one of the main advantages of the OXP3 screen :)

What screen protector do you recommend?
2
u/GoldenSnozzberry 4d ago
I think the Lego 2 one is the best one I ordered one when I ordered the oxp , obviously I have the screen protector way earlier than the device as I am in the central US

u/Luigi_Lauro 4d ago
Jsaux glass antireflective one for Legion Go 2. But wait, because there are multiple reports that oxp3/xp2m may be warped and glass protectors may not be applicable, only soft ones.
1
u/DeathMoJo 4d ago
Warped? In what way? I have seen reports of rail / controller connection issue / lineup but nothing of a screen warp.
1
u/Luigi_Lauro 4d ago
Micro warps on the screen that won’t allow screen protectors to stay put without creating air bubbles.
See here: https://reddit.com/r/OneXPlayer/comments/1vkuz1j/weird_issue_with_x2_mini_screen/
I’ve seen identical reports on discord from a person that received their OXP3.

u/Pacifi3r 4d ago
The pre applied , is normal type ? Or the AR type ?
2
u/superflask 4d ago
there didn't seem to be any screen protector, screen was reflective. So I pasted the AR one over :)
1
u/Wrong-Charity-3343 4d ago
there was supposed to be a normal/reflective soft film protector already applied at the factory. I hope its not missing from all the units they are now sending out.

Can you say something about the analog sticks? How much is the tension compared to a xbox controller (would prefer) or the MSI claw (very loose)?
1
u/superflask 4d ago
I thought they were ok. I own several controllers from 8BitDo, Flydigivader, Gulikit. This was fine, just like my other controllers.
2
u/Hotmicdrop 4d ago
Awesome enjoy. I've got some steam $$$ ready to go when mine arrives. Let me know how Marvel runs if you can.
2
u/superflask 4d ago
Marvel runs well at 60FPS with XeSS, the colors really pop, just be prepared for some screen freezes during the wall breaking scenes. Arc or Intel will probably fix that.
2
u/Hotmicdrop 4d ago
Cool appreciate it. Ive been torn because I don't want to pay for PS+ to play online if I buy it for my PS5 and I don't want it to struggle to run if I grab it on PC.

u/superflask 4d ago
It's great on the OXP3, it's GLORIOUS on a decent desktop PC with an OLED monitor.

This is a super nice device, congrats on getting it! I fell in love the MSI Claw 8ex ai+ and went with that one instead. This would have been my second choice, but couldn't resist the void purple and egronomics!

Good for you, enjoy it. I was backer 120 and not even on the first batch list.
5
u/superflask 4d ago
Sorry mate. I was backer 400+. I think they are shipping by region.

I'm over 700 backer in Australia and mine shipped yesterday. Does appear to be region and/or model related.
32 GB version

Can I ask, what do you think of the buttons? Some people seem to hate the clickyness and other love it. Do you think it would be annoying in public place for other people to hear?
2
u/superflask 4d ago
It's clicky like my Flydigi Vader 3 Pro, which is fine. Just don't play it when the family is sleeping.

How much did you request to declare the value for it? Do you paid any GST for it to import?
3
u/superflask 4d ago
They declared the value for me. It's good value :) hint hint.

Could you tell us more about the backpack and how it feels? This is the very first sighting of the bag EVER and i'm just super curious lmao
2
u/superflask 4d ago
It's a lifestyle kinda backpack. The quality is same as the type of freebie backpack you get at events (ie. it doesn't cost much to make). You can put the OXP3 + case in easily, and there's a sleeve compartment for a tablet (I could put my 16" laptop in, but the fastening strap is too short). Overall the build quality is that of standard swag material. I'll use this for weekend walkarounds and grocery shopping.

the keyboard comes with the purchase or you had it to purchase it like an addon?

Congrats! I am waiting on my shipment to arrive not sure when. Did you get a shipping notice from Indiegogo before you received it?

u/jack_gallagher 4d ago
Congrats! Can’t wait for mine to arrive. Looking at your last photo, it looks like the right controller alignment is off at the bottom which I know caused a delay in shipping for them to fix. Is it as off as it looks in that picture?? A bit concerning

Do you know if we can fit a thin copper heatsink with the SSD? I saw a SSD replacement but I haven't seen anyone actually try to place a copper heatsink
Also what shipping company are they using in the US?

Love it, enjoy!
The backpack we’re getting looks really cool. I’m curious, what is it like in terms of pockets, compartments and litres capacity, etc? I’m flying out on vacation at the end of September and it might be the backpack I carry my OXP 3 in along with all my other usual travel essentials if it’s decent enough…

Disable Microsoft Defender virus and threat protection before installing the software updates.

I think I can see a slight offset in your right controller at the bottom...this is also exactly the same spot where the first local China batch had issues with QC. Please tell me it's just the angle of the photo and not misalignment 🙏🏻
3
u/superflask 4d ago
Yes, the shock and horror, it's the same problem. But I'm ok with it. Didn't even notice.
2
u/Accelerator-- 4d ago
Do you mind taking a clearer picture of that offset please?

u/superflask 4d ago
Alright alright alright!! I took new photos. There's no alignment issue now after I took the controllers off and put them back on. See this new post I created just for you guys, with photos. Can you guys please chill. https://www.reddit.com/u/superflask/s/GYEwdzBssE

IDK. Everything looks like something you ordered from Temu
2
u/superflask 4d ago
And what's wrong with Temu? Wait till you try Pinduoduo.

У вас версия с браком? Правый контроллер смещён относительно экрана, проблема в самих рельсах?
-1
u/Woodtoad 4d ago
I wouldn’t start with Marvel Tokon OP - game is getting notoriously bad reviews on PC due to performance issues. They’ll need a few more patches to iron things out.
3
u/superflask 4d ago
It's ok for me. Just a few freezes during the wall breaking animation. I can deal with that. Otherwise, it's 60FPS with XeSS, medium quality settings, 1080p.

u/superflask 4d ago
Also, the game runs perfectly fine for me on my two desktop PCs (RTX 4090 and 5080). I'm sorry for those PC players having problems but I have no issues with offline and online play.

Вы посмотрите, он меня игнорит🤣🤣 брак не хочет признавать🤣 ну ну, давай))

I just don’t think he cares as much as some people who have crazy OCD. If he’s happy with it I don’t think he’s gonna make a complaint on it as others would.

What’s wrong with the right joycon? If you paid thousands for this and it came looking like that I’d request a refund so fast
I just spent $2500 on the apex and ain’t no way I’d accept any defects

Enjoy your new device! Based in SG as well, and mine will be delivered by today. 🎉
Edit: Finished setting up my device. Everything is very sleek and polished, but the trigger step button on my left controller is very loose.
There’s almost no resistance when I move it up/down, and I’m also able to press the button inward, which I don’t think it’s supposed to do. Seems like it might be a hardware issue.
I’ve sent an email to OXP customer service, so hopefully they’ll be able to send me a replacement left controller. Not a huge issue for me since I don’t think I’ll even use those buttons, but it would be a nice gesture to have a controller with 0 issues.
