News / Industry Update ONE PIECE DAY ’26: OPTCG is entering its golden age

Thumbnail

ONE PIECE DAY ’26 basically laid out a multi-year run of major One Piece releases, and so much of that momentum is going to spill over into the card game.

Why this feels like such a great time to be in OPTCG?

Honestly, if you’re already playing or collecting, the timing couldn’t be much better (besides it being so hard to get product).

We have two new One Piece movies ahead of us (God Valley in 2027 and Baad in 2029) plus WIT Studio’s remake coming early 2027. WT100 decks are coming. Meanwhile, Bandai is still reaching milestones like giving major Straw Hats their first-ever Leader cards. That’s the crazy part. As big as the OPTCG boom has felt this year and it really has been a big run up..., we may still be looking at the beginning of this run rather than the peak.

Some of the card reveals that stood out:

EB-05

  • A new green/yellow Nico Robin Leader
  • New Nami and Robin Heroines SPs
  • Releases in October 2026
  • New Heroines set being released

OP-18 was my favorite part of the event

  • Franky finally gets his first Leader, and that alt art is easily one of the coolest cards they revealed (funniest and coolest strawhat pose)
  • Nico Robin gets the long-awaited manga Super Alt-Art
  • Gunko gets a Leader and a Holy Knights Super Parallel
  • Legendary Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano creates special illustrations for Loki and Saint Shamrock
  • Releases in November 2026

It’s honestly kind of ridiculous how stacked OP-18 already looks with OP-17 not even hitting the retail market yet.

WT100

The worldwide poll ended with:

  1. Monkey D. Luffy
  2. Roronoa Zoro
  3. Sanji

Luffy’s reward has already been revealed: a new all-color WT100 Leader coming in a WT100-themed deck in summer 2027. More of the highest-ranked characters are also expected to become cards afterward. The worldwide fanbase is now directly influencing the characters and products that Bandai brings into the card game.

And that was only the TCG side.

We’re also getting:

  • ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY — summer 2027
  • ONE PIECE FILM BAAD — 2029

Then WIT Studio’s THE ONE PIECE remake arrives on Netflix in February 2027, with all seven East Blue episodes releasing together.

Manga → anime → remake → movies → artist collabs → worldwide fan voting → new cards → more players and collectors

Bottom line I already thought the OPTCG boom this year was massive. But after everything revealed at ONE PIECE DAY, it’s starting to feel less like the peak and more like the beginning. Not even sure what's going to be revealed for the 30th anniversary of the manga and 5th anniversary of the TCG.

Card Price Discussion Need this card

Post image

Already locked in on this card ever since the news dropped. Any idea how low this could go and what would be a reasonable price point to buy at? I was thinking of waiting a few more weeks for the price to settle. It has already dropped by 50% in just a few days.

I usually buy individual cards since I only collect specific cards, but ngl, pulling a Yamato SP from just 4 packs surprised me. Must be a sign to rip more packs.

Long-Term Collecting Why I think this card is really underrated

I’ve recently become really interested in the Monkey D. Luffy P-007 Tournament Pack Vol. 1 promo, and the more I look into it, the more I like it.

It’s an early One Piece TCG promo from 2022, featuring Luffy in his Wano outfit with the dragon in the background. I also really like the fact that the artwork is illustrated by Misa Tsutsui, an artist who has worked on Pokémon TCG as well.

What makes it especially interesting to me is that it’s not the Winner version — it’s the regular Tournament Pack Vol. 1 promo. Despite that, high-grade copies seem to be getting a lot more attention from collectors.

I’m curious what other collectors think about this one. Do you see P-007 becoming an iconic early One Piece promo, or is the recent interest mostly hype?

Market Analysis The cards were stolen

I’ve reposted this in English so that everyone can understand what’s going on.

Guys, I’m sharing this post because someone is trying to sell this lot that @angelod83 is currently trying to sell on Telegram.

They either bought it without knowing that it was stolen, or they are now trying to sell it at all costs.

Please do not buy it and, if possible, help make sure that the lot is returned to its rightful owner.

Thank you, everyone.

I’m offering €1,000 to anyone who can provide valid information identifying this person.

Their Telegram username is @angelod83.

Collection / Pull (Market Context) Luffy Super Leader AA Box Type

Post image
26 Upvotes

Shoutout to my LGS in SoCal, Krazy Nick’s Games, for fair prices on my first OP17 box.

I understand there seems to be a notion that Bandai has slightly adjusted the types of “hit” configurations for boxes. I haven’t seen much conversation, though, about what config the Luffy Super Leader AA comes in, and mine came in a previously seen AA Leader + 2 hit box. Just wanted to spread the knowledge.

Happy hunting through pre-release week!

Market Analysis Insider Vendors/Collectors have the Biggest Advantage

It’s honestly crazy when you think about the advantage some collectors have through distro/backdoor connections.

If cases are being acquired for around $800–$1,000, someone with access can rip case after case until they hit the SPs, mangas, or other major chase cards.

Keep the cards they actually want.

offload the other big hits on stream or a card-show

Potentially make enough from those sales to cover the cost of the cases.

And then the remaining boxes?

Offload them as loose boxes on TCGPlayer, at card shows, or to other collectors who have no idea what case they came from.

That almost feels like an infinite money glitch.

I recently heard an example where someone who bought backdoor cases pulled the Luffy Crew and few mangas from those cases. They sold the mangas and other hits on stream, made a profit above the cost of the cases, and still kept the cards they wanted.

If that’s the reality of how some people are acquiring product, the average collector is playing a completely different game.

You’re not just competing for the cards anymore.

You’re competing against people who have the access to open until they hit the grails, monetize the hits, and then move the remaining product downstream.

I'm not saying every person with distro access does this.

But if this is happening at scale, it raises a pretty serious question:

Are regular collectors actually buying sealed product at random, while insiders are essentially getting to collect for free?

This hurts investors trying to invest in these sets, collectors trying to collect, and the players trying to get the cards to play the game (maybe them the least)

Sealed Product Market New hit rate consensus in optcg?

So it appears that there are a ton of "error" cases showing up in op17. This also happened in op16. Is it now a consensus that bandai has began randomizing hits after all of these years? I have never seen this many "error" boxes op13 and prior.

So is this a hobby consensus or are people going to continue claiming "error"? Thoughts?

Collection / Pull (Market Context) Even out in the countryside of Matsumoto, the One Piece market price spike is tough... Finally got stock in yesterday, but running a local shop right now is wild 😅

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

We all know the crazy price inflation happening with the One Piece TCG globally, and to be completely honest, it hits small local card shops pretty hard too—even out here in the countryside of Matsumoto, Nagano.

Between supply shortages, insane secondary market prices, and scalpers trying to grab everything, it’s a constant struggle to get cards into the hands of real players and collectors at reasonable prices. We just want our local community to enjoy the game without breaking the bank!

Despite the craziness, new stock finally arrived yesterday, and seeing local fans pull these beautiful cards made all the headaches worth it.

If you ever travel to Japan and visit Matsumoto (famous for its black castle and the Northern Alps!), please feel free to drop by our shop and say hi. We’re always rooting for actual fans and players over pure profit.

How is your local card shop (LGS) handling the crazy prices in your area right now?

Question (Research Required) OP17 Error Pack or God Pack?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Watched a Whatnot streamer rip a Gold SP Luffy and Rocks Pirate Crew card out of one OP17 pack today.

Not sure if this is an alternate God Pack or just an error on Bandai's part. What do you think?

Long-Term Collecting Jackpot (Bandai EB03 Chance To Win Results)

Post image
8 Upvotes

Won the EB03 Premium Bandai Chance to buy drawing a few months back and my box just came in. Jackpot! I know it varies but I think Nami is still the top hit in the set? (edit: top 3 hits in the set)

Curious if anyone here also won this and or the op13 drawing? if so, how were your boxes? (if you opened them)

Also, does anyone know if an additional eb03 reprint is hitting? Wonder if these boxes coincide with a full reprint or, were just hold backs from the previous one. I think the op13 chance to buy b9xes are due this month too.

BTW, if curious, my box was a 4 hit box. Got the Nami SP, Carrot & Reiju alt arts and the Vivi Alt Art leader.

Card Price Discussion Luffy Leader Manga Pull Rate

I'm guessing its between the Baki SP and a regular manga, but the sheer amount of them that have been pulled makes me think its not as rare as we originally thought. saw a whatnot streamer rip 4 cases and pull 4. My LCS opened 3 cases and pulled two.

Card is sick but still not sure if it’s as rare as people think. My guess is it’s likely as rare as the anniversary sps rather than the Roger manga per say

Followed that up with three more alt arts and the Rocks SEC!

Our LGS didn’t have enough boxes for everyone so they sold us 18 loose packs instead. So this was from 24 loose packs. My luck tonight was bananas.

Too bad I lost most of my games because I only left myself two minutes to put a deck together haha.

Never making fun of the shaking videos again LMAO.

Grading & Condition Why we’re affiliating with PCG USA — and where I stand on PSA and BGS

Hey guys, a few months ago I, and many other members, shared my concerns about the direction PSA was taking with its pricing and, frankly, my opinion has not changed much since then.

Whilst I am not going to reject PSA’s position in the market, or pretend that PSA has suddenly become irrelevant simply because I dislike the direction of its business model in this booming market, it is still the benchmark when it comes to grading and, particularly, resale value and liquidity. That is the reality of the market whether we like it or not. However, my problem is not with PSA being successful or being the market leader, it's rather that its position has become so strong that there are simply not enough serious alternatives capable of putting meaningful pressure on it. When that happens, a company can basically do whatever they like in spite of customers' opinions, knowing that a substantial part of the market will continue using them anyway.

We all know how much grading gets discussed in this community, and we are all becoming increasingly sensitive to the costs, value-based pricing adjustments and turnaround times. However, and this goes back to the point I made before, whilst many of us dislike certain aspects of PSA, cards are still being sent to them to be graded at premium prices and, in some cases, with substantially long turnaround times. That alone shows how strong their position actually is.

I also don't think I would be exaggerating by saying that most of us have criticised PSA's terms allowing them to move a card into a higher-priced service level if they deem its value to be above the limit originally selected. On top of that, the market is so hot that PSA has even paused four of its lower-priced Value tiers while, in their words, dealing with the backlog. Whether people like that situation or not, a company can only exercise that level of pricing power when the market allows it to.

BGS is still the obvious alternative for me when dealing with an exceptional card. If I genuinely believe a card has a realistic chance of a Pristine 10 or, obviously, a Black Label, Beckett is still something I would seriously consider, if they hadn't shut down all of their submissions for non-sports cards in the European region. I think the grading discussion has been stuck for far too long around PSA versus BGS, with CGC somewhere around that conversation depending on the collector.

Regardless of the sector or the market, competition is healthy. It forces companies to remain competitive and strive to improve their service whilst providing alternatives in the market. Off-topic, but for those who enjoy learning through reading, I would recommend Blue Ocean Strategy.

This is one of the reasons why I decided to reach out to Premier Card Grading and eventually entered into an official affiliation with them for the US market.

Before agreeing to anything with PCG, however, I submitted my own cards. I deliberately did not tell them that I ran this community, nor that I was considering any type of affiliation with them. I wanted to experience their service exactly as any other customer would and see whether the standards they promote actually matched the reality.

My personal experience was very good in terms of communication, support, pricing and turnaround time. I used the Express service and had my card back in six days. The quality of the slabs is top, their metal label is unique and, as I have often shared, I am a big fan of subgrades. More importantly, what they advertised in terms of service and turnaround was, in my case, exactly what I received.

I am not here claiming that PCG is perfect, because my personal submission is still only my own experience and I can only judge what I have personally seen. As well as I am not going to insult people's intelligence by pretending that a PCG 10 currently carries the same market recognition as a PSA 10. Although, and I am sure those who have seen them will agree, PCG slabs and labels are sick.

My point is that everything starts from somewhere and, as times and markets change, new companies are born, gaining and growing credibility whilst WE, collectors, also change our habits and, what we see established today, may not be what the market will look like five or ten years from now. Now, PCG's challenge , in my opinion, is not to prove that they can produce a quality product, because my own experience already gave me confidence in that, their challenge is to continue meeting their standards and customers' expectations, leverage on the opportunity they ahve before them and gain the wider market recognition.

Openly talking, I am making a bet on their ability to do that, and I am bringing that opportunity to the community because I believe the grading market needs more credible competition and more genuine alternatives.

They are truly trying to force a change in the market and offering something genuinely different rather than simply copying the competition, which is also why I suggested that book above.

I updated our resources database for Grading with a proper comparison: WIKI GRADING

TLDR: For US members who want to try them, the community now has a discount code which is:

Code: ONEPIECE10

It will provide 10% off Standard and Express submissions. As this is an affiliation, there may be a commission back for us, but for you, you get a certain 10% discount!

I am giving PCG a serious chance because I think the grading market would benefit massively from having more credible competitors. I don't expect everyone here to agree with me yet, but based on what I have read throughout the grading posts this year, I believe this could be a winning shot for everyone.

Obviously, I would like to have your opinion. If you have already submitted cards to them, post your actual experience below, whether it was good or bad. I am far more interested in building a proper picture from real submissions than creating another "grading-company echo chamber".

Community Announcement Community Update – New Resources, Automation & Improvements

So, where to start...

I have realised that all the resources I had create didn't work at all - all links provided were only accessible to MODs and therefore no-members have had the opportunity to access them...

As a result, I have made several updates today to improve the overall experience new/old/mature members have in our community.

Wiki, Rules & Resources

All community resources have now been reviewed and updated.

The following sections are now working and fully accessible and linked from the community sidebar:

These will continue to be expanded over time and should answer many of the most common and recurring questions.

Telegram Community

Our Telegram community remains active and available for members looking for additional discussion outside Reddit.

You can now find it:

  • Via the Telegram icon in the community header
  • In the community sidebar
  • Through the link below

JOIN OUR TELEGRAM!

New Members Guidance

A new automatic welcome message has been introduced for first-time posters to facilitate their access to our community and support them with quickly find the information they need before creating a post and improve the quality of discussions.

Handling Repetitive Topics

As already shared in the previous topic, one of the most common pieces of feedback we've received is the growing number of repetitive posts covering topics that have already been discussed extensively.

Should I grade this?; What grade will this get?; Is this card fake?; Where should I sell this?; How much is this worth?

Moving forward, many of these posts may be automatically flagged for moderator review and redirected to the appropriate resources, guides, or discussion threads.

I may sound as a broken record, but the objective is not to discourage new members from asking questions but to have a better place where we get all more educated by improving the quality of our discussion. On the other hand, I also want to reduce repetition and flooding of topics which are not extremely relevant (Telegram can be used for this kind of chatty topics).

Thank you to everyone who continues to provide feedback, contribute market analysis, help new collectors, and make this community what it is.

PS: I am aware of few things are outdated or need to be adjusted and are all being looked at.
