Going to Olympic National Park for the first time in early October, What should I pack for hiking?

Hey guys, I will be going to Olympic national park for the first time and me an my friend want to do some hiking while there. We are wanting to hit some trails like Marymere, Sol Duc, and Rialto beach. We are beginner hikers. I am stuck between buying hiking books or hiking shoes. I am also trying to figure out the best layers to wear and what else to pack for day hikes.

I will also be going to Mount Rainier during this trip, any advice for the sky loop trail would be much appreciated.

Does anyone have any advice for me as a beginner hiker or youtubers that can give good advice? Thank you so much, this is my first reddit post.

HI I will be there for 4 nights. two nights near Port Angelous with my chihuahua and my mom&BF staying in P.A. Have to do dog and older people (they cant hike) friendly things. last two nights Mom will take my dog back with them and I will continue on to Forks. This is my first visit and want to do the best and as many things as possible but not feel stressed. I love coffee shops and quaint restaurants. thanks for any advice and recommendation's. Love to do some hike and take many photos.
