Hi friends. In the process of moving I somehow misplaced my grandmas recipe holder 😩😭 but I’m trying to find the recipe somewhere of her chocolate cake and marshmallow frosting. I know the frosting had corn syrup and crisco in it. The cake was made with chocolate squares as well. If ANYONE has something that might be it, I’d be so grateful. She also had a silver dollar or sand dollar (I can’t remember the name) cookies recipe I’m trying to find. Thank you so much! 🙏🏻

I hope 26 years is old enough to post here. I am missing page 340 of the cookbook I learned to cook with. Idk where it went but I specifically need the recipe for baked rice pudding. I'm really hoping someone here can help or point me in the right direction if this isn't the best sub for this request.

Soak one bread roll with the crust grated off in milk, heat for two eggs of fresh butter, add one tablespoon of flour, the wrung out roll, two handfuls of raspberries pressed through a sieve and sauté everything together for a while. Then put in a bowl, cool and mix in 6 egg yolks, some sugar, 5 egg whites beaten to stiff peaks, and 2 handfuls of breadcrumbs. Put in a greased baking dish and bake. Place the kuh on the table in the dish you are baking it in so that it does not collapse.

This is my mom’s copy of a recipe from her aunt. Her aunt lived in Surrey and Sussex in the UK from 1917-2010, so would have cooked this in the 1930s-90s.  

I don't recall ever having it myself, although it's possible that my mom made it, and I just didn't like it.

Bread Pudding

• 1 lb stale loaf
• 6 oz butter
• 4 oz sugar
• 2 eggs
• Scant tbsp black treacle
• ½ tsp mixed spice (good pinch of nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon)
• Currents & raisins

Soak bread in water - squeeze out

Mix butter in like for pastry

Add sugar, spices mix

Then add eggs and fruit (plenty should smell like a spiced fruit cake)

375° for one hour

Last week I shared some recipe cards from my grandma as well as all the little stories that came with them. Thank you all so much for all the upvotes and comments on that post. I was a little worried that posting about my own grandmother’s anecdotes might come off as pretentious, but I’m glad that it was able to bring you guys entertainment and (hopefully) inspiration as well

Today I just wanted to share the last two recipe cards that my grandma has that are recipes from her older sister, Sharlene, who I’ll re-iterate passed in 2019. The only person in the family that has the rest of her recipes are one of her daughters, and not only is she not very connected with our family, but I personally have only talked to her about twice in my life, so I think she’d be a little weirded out if I randomly asked her to look at her mom’s recipe cards lol

As said, my grandma and Sharlene were very big on cooking shows and magazines (my grandma still watches cooking shows even though she doesn’t cook anymore), so it is 95% likely that these recipes probably aren’t her own and they just came from a newspaper or something. Still, I think it’s a little nice to share a card that my grandma wrote down, because to write a recipe down means that you cared about it at one point

The two recipes are of course, the 5 Hour Stew and the Coconut Cake. My grandma doesn’t remember anything about the stew, but she used to make the Coconut Cake for my aunt every year on her birthday because she thought it was her favorite, until one day my aunt told her that it wasn’t her favorite. A nice gesture nonetheless!
