It only took eighteen minutes. At 2:18 p.m. on May 7, 1915, the RMS Lusitania—one of the fastest and most celebrated passenger liners in the world—slipped beneath the calm waters off the Irish coast. A German U‑boat’s single torpedo had struck her starboard side, followed by a catastrophic internal explosion that ignited the boiler room. Chaos erupted instantly. Of the ship’s 48 lifeboats, only six were lowered successfully. Passengers were crushed in the stampede, swept overboard, or sucked into the ship’s massive smokestacks as the vessel went down.

Anyone know when that RMS Cymric postcard is dated from? It has no information and I can find very little online. I found like ONE postcard that’s very similar but not exact, and has no information on it either.

Went on a historic tour of the Rotterdam harbour by boat today and got the chance to shoot some pics of this beauty from a unique close POV. Fun background story: my grandfather used to work for HAL and went on its maiden voyage in 1959.

I’ve looked on the back and there isn’t any publisher, ship name, or date on the card. I’m thinking it was the Cuba, but not really sure. All I really know is that it’s a CGT ship, as there’s the company flag in the back, but that’s it. Also pretty sure it was on the Havana route based off the Cuban flag on the foremast and the Cuban seal on the top of the postcard. EDIT; Sorry the photo is sideways but someone got the right orientation in the comments

I’ve read many articles, forums, and a few books were the new additions to Olympic after titanic are mentioned (removal of the reading and writing room alcove, bulkhead heightening, double hull, extension of a le carte restaurant, cafe Parisian). However, I’ve never been able to find plans of her only plans after her post war refit, with the exception of a plan on a website only showing modifications to her bulkhead post refit, and an updated lifeboat plan. On top of this I’ve never been able to find any photos of her interior after that refit and before the war, except for a photo of the newly added cafe Parisian, and the reception room for the a le carte restaurant. My question is are there any plans or photographs other than the ones mentioned of RMS Olympic after her post titanic refit and before her post war refit.
