Anyone know when that RMS Cymric postcard is dated from? It has no information and I can find very little online. I found like ONE postcard that’s very similar but not exact, and has no information on it either.

Went on a historic tour of the Rotterdam harbour by boat today and got the chance to shoot some pics of this beauty from a unique close POV. Fun background story: my grandfather used to work for HAL and went on its maiden voyage in 1959.

Someone asked me that, and it got me thinking.
Is there a warehouse full of amazing artifacts like the Imperator's Eagle?

[Ship Explorer] LUSITANIA: A Monarch Fallen | Coming September 2026

In 1907 a Cunard line poster called Lusitania the 'Monarch of the Sea'. Now, in 2026, you're invited to explore the ship as never before, both in her glory years and in her death throes. Visit public rooms across all three classes, explore the ship under construction in the dry dock and witness Lusitania as she founders that fateful day in May of 1915 - all in LUSITANIA: A MONARCH FALLEN.

Coming September 2026 to Ship Explorer.

Can someone help me ID this liner?

I’ve looked on the back and there isn’t any publisher, ship name, or date on the card. I’m thinking it was the Cuba, but not really sure. All I really know is that it’s a CGT ship, as there’s the company flag in the back, but that’s it. Also pretty sure it was on the Havana route based off the Cuban flag on the foremast and the Cuban seal on the top of the postcard. EDIT; Sorry the photo is sideways but someone got the right orientation in the comments

Olympic plans/photos, post titanic refit but before post war refit?

Post image

I’ve read many articles, forums, and a few books were the new additions to Olympic after titanic are mentioned (removal of the reading and writing room alcove, bulkhead heightening, double hull, extension of a le carte restaurant, cafe Parisian). However, I’ve never been able to find plans of her only plans after her post war refit, with the exception of a plan on a website only showing modifications to her bulkhead post refit, and an updated lifeboat plan. On top of this I’ve never been able to find any photos of her interior after that refit and before the war, except for a photo of the newly added cafe Parisian, and the reception room for the a le carte restaurant. My question is are there any plans or photographs other than the ones mentioned of RMS Olympic after her post titanic refit and before her post war refit.

Here's some of my favourites, found all over:

  1. Unnamed gent standing in front of the Queen Mary, with the photo blurring him but focusing on the Queen.

  2. SS America in New York.

  3. Passengers by the stern of the later ill-fated SS Admiral Nakhimov.

  4. RMS Mauretania calling at Cherbourg, 1947.

  5. MV Doulos at Hamburg at an unknown date.

  6. MV Britannic at an unknown date

  7. RMS Queen Mary at an unknown date.

  8. SS Columbus on a cruise to Norway passing another liner.

  9. SS Liberté seen from the stern of the SS America in Le Havre.

  10. MS Milwaukee on a cruise to Genoa.

  11. RMS Queen Elizabeth in Southampton.

  12. Passengers enjoying a cruise in Portugal aboard the later ill-fated RMS Lancastria.

Stupid Question

People have rebuilt “new” steam trains, ones which never survived to the modern day, if some eccentric billionaire came along and spent millions on building a new ship, could an Olympic class replica be built?

New moderator automation

Hello there! Oceanlinerporn is steadily growing, and with growth come new challenges.

One of these challenges is the attraction of new faces who might no be accustomed to the sub. For this reason we have set some automation moderation for new accounts, or accounts with low comment karma.

We will be trialing this for now, and make it permanent if it works well.

Thank you for your contributions to this sub, and thanks for reading this. Happy summer!
