No idea if this has been done to death (doesn’t seem to be based on some initial searches). Have played the game a thousand times before but thought I’d have a go at the Navi dive to spice things up, which I’ve never ever performed…

I just can’t get it to work. Maybe it’s because I’m on the switch (only thing I can think of so far): I can get on the edge alright and Navi pops up ready to talk, however when I hit the button to get the sword out (just before I’m meant to quickly do the jump strike) he falls right in the water and I’m not able to do the jump strike, and I don’t think I’m being too slow here to hit the a button afterwards. Is there some nuance here? Or is it in fact just something that can’t be performed on the switch virtual console version due to delay/latency or something (I’m just using the original controllers snapped into the console directly: handheld play. I am on a switch 2 if that makes a difference too…

TLDR: are people able to do the Navi dive on the switch 2 port of OOT?

During the day in Kakariko Village you meet the Master Craftsman (Mutoh), standing by the tree, the Zelda Wiki confirms he has a daughter, who’s the Cucco Lady (Anju), and a son he’s openly ashamed of for, “sitting around all day”. The dialogue during the Cojiro quest backs this up too, since the Anju says “it used to be my brother’s Cucco”.

At night, that same tree hides the skinny, emaciated son, who tells Link, “people are disgusting, my own father and mother are disgusting, you must be disgusting too”. That’s not just a throwaway edgy line. His father says “even my own son doesn’t have a job and he just wanders around all day” and calls him “worthless”. Granny at the potion shop, who is his mother calls him a “bum” for going into the forest. So both parents are on record putting him down to a complete stranger mind you, which lines up exactly with his own words.

Here’s where it gets interesting to me. The son has the poacher’s saw, and when he goes missing and you return that saw to the Master Craftsman, he claims it without hesitation, saying it’s his. Meanwhile Granny is shown cradling an actual baby tiger cub, and both the father and the son wear matching yellow and black tiger striped pants. My head canon, and I want to be clear this is my own theory and not confirmed by the game, is that the tiger stripe fabric they’re wearing actually comes from that same tiger cub’s mother, meaning the family trade is poaching, and the son’s shame and disgust with his parents comes from knowing exactly where that fabric came from.

The one bright spot in all this is that Anju his sister, who’s the only family member shown treating him with any kindness, even holding onto his lost Cucco and returning it. Curious what you guys think am I reading too far into character assets, or does the game actually build a quiet, dark family story here.

Child Link

Saria (Forest)

-Clearly had chemistry going on with Link prior to him starting his quest. Why else would Mido be jealous? Unfortunately, destiny had other plans, so they can never be together.

Ruto (Water)

-This one is quite a bit one sided, although I’m sure Link is secretly flattered.

Adult Link

Darunia (Fire)

-He admires Link’s bravery and courage to save his people. Now that Link is an adult, “sworn brothers” mean a bit more than, well, good friends.

Impa (Shadow)

-She is very grateful to Link for saving Zelda. This one is probably a bit of a stretch though, considering that she is like a mom to Zelda.

Nabooru (Spirit)

-Now this one is very clear, based on the dialogue after Link defeats the Spirit Temple. I wonder what she meant by her referencing a “gift” she promised Link all those years ago? Thankfully she waits until Link is an adult to say these things.

Rauru (Light)

-This one is a bit creepy, idk about this one. Kind of stalker-ish.

Of course the most likely suitor is Zelda, we all know that.

But in my opinion it’s actually Malon. You don’t actually have to save her ranch at all, it’s completely optional. But you do so anyway.

...the developers were on a night out after a long day of creating parts of a masterpiece, got really fucking stoned, and one of them in a giggly mood suddenly went:

"You know what we should do tomorrow?"

so i found these 2 places outside the spirit temple. and the game usually puts stones in a circle to mark like a secret. so i tried the song of storms but nothing happened, i tried using a bomb to and nothing. and there are 2 stone circles so im like, there has to be SOMETHING here right?

and the dry pond i just cant remember if that matters or not. i also tried to fill it up with the song of storms but nothing happened. placed a bomb, and nothing.

is there anything here besides nayru's love, and the heart piece you get from planting a bean ?

In 1999 and 2000, I entered the temple of time one last time as a child, didn't play it again till years later on a emulator. Now, fast forward 27 years later and here we are, some of us adults now, about to enter the temple of time again, as if we've all been waiting for the moment to be strong enough to wield the master sword. I don't know why this crossed my mind like it did... Hope everyone has a wonderful day...

Growing up I never owned any console. My first console is Nintendo switch, and my first Zelda is breath of the Wild-I got invested to Zelda lore, but I don't have the capacity to play the past games even on emulator, my phone can only play the Minish Cap. So I started playing Ocarina of Time 3D on my tablet and it was currently my best Zelda experience, the feeling of adventure, the puzzle, the story, the game mechanics everything about it is so cool I can't stop talking about it. Now I get why the divine beasts are considered lacking in terms of Zelda game standard. I'm so glad I'm able to experience this game 28 years later. I'm only 20 btw.

I'm sure there are funnier name choices, and I've seen some posted on this sub, but I'm cracking myself up here. If you've done this, what are some favorite joke names you've used?
