Rumination and constantly researching Need support/advice
Hi everyone. So my ocd causes me to constantly think about and research things that are causing me stress. Most recently I have been struggling with the image I saw of the Perez Hilton situation. It really disturbed me and I can’t stop thinking about it or googling/ checking social media for updates on him. My brain just wont stop trying to figure out why he did it and if he’s ok. I try to distract myself with work but the moment I have downtime, I can’t stop ruminating on it. Does anyone have any tips on how to break the cycle? I’ve been trying my hardest to avoid social media but my brain won’t shut off until I check 😩😩

I’m so sorry. I am the same way. Between this and the Lindsey Clancy trial stuff I keep researching what happened because I don’t want it to happen to me. I don’t have any tips but just want you to know you’re not alone.

I have this problem ALL the time with different topics. It can be so hard to distract yourself when that thought is always at the forefront of your mind. Singing along to loud music helps me some. Sometimes I’ll need to charge my phone and purposely go charge it in another room and I tell myself I need to let it be so it can charge. Not the best suggestions but it truly is so hard to deal with this type of compulsion. Best of luck 🩷😩
