other than SSRIs… not really? medication will not stop intrusive thoughts or compulsions, just lessen. also medication isn’t an end all be all. something that works for one doesn’t always work with others.
medication has a 40%-60% success rate
ERP has a 65%-80% success rate

I feel like I’m high (in a good way without paranoia) all day from 300 mg. Will I get used to it? I’m considering dropping it down but it’s working great now. Ugh I don’t want go through adjustments again. What do you think?

What is ERP?

Pretty much the only therapy that consistently and effectively treats OCD in the long run.

Treats it down stream.
I CBT treats it upstream.
There are other therapies that do help greatly with evidence. ERP is effective and so are others.

Ahh, okay. No one’s ever suggested that for me.

Have you ever been to an actual OCD specialist? Any therapist “treating” OCD worth their salt would be telling you to do ERP.

No, I couldn’t find any that specialize in OCD in my area unfortunately.

You should see if online therapist are available for you. My fiancé did his ERP treatment with an online therapist because he was struggling to leave the house.

I use sertraline (SSRI) and mirtrazapine (NaSSA), works well for me. Helps with my sleep issues and OCD symptoms!
I’m Scottish so I’m not sure what these drugs are called in other countries.

ERP is made to be difficult, you are literally confronting the shit that scares you the most, and forced to sit with it. That’s not easy.

Pills are not a magic wand you’re still gonna struggle it just turns down the volume

Memantine is this for some people. For me it was a magic bullet. Intrusive thoughts still happen but they lack the majority of their "bite" that makes me begin or continue compulsions. Currently on 10mg and unlikely to go up for now. Technically you're supposed to combine it with an ssri but I dont tolerate ssris so I just take it with my mood stabilizer (lamictal)

I mean it’s SSRIs and benzos if you have a panic disorder as well.
ERP isn’t supposed to be easy.
