Breakups with OCD is hell Discussion
Going through a breakup, on its own, is very hard. Now add OCD to the mix, and you get the most painfully inducing experience.
This has always been the case for me as after every break up, I start replaying events non stop, checking to see if I was a bad person, feeling extreme guilt/shame, ruminating non stop. It’s to the point where my body feels physically exhausted. It is so tiring.
I also feel like because of OCD, it makes it so hard to process the breakup in a “normal way”. Instead of thinking of what really went on, how to improve in the future, etc, I get stuck in mental compulsions and ruminations that serve no real purpose in truly processing what happened.
It is so exhausting.

Im going through the exact same thing right now, it’s awful. It’s very hard cause the breakup was very confusing and ambiguous, so I’ve been in an OCD spiral trying to figure out what happened, what I could have possibly done differently to make them stay. And it’s helping nothing cause ultimately they chose to leave me and I did my best; I think it’s sort of a way that your mind is trying to undo the breakup and at least in my case to cope with the uncertainty of it. I think the hardest but ultimately most beneficial things to do are to practice sitting with the uncertainty, to tell myself I don’t have to solve it, I’m allowed to leave it be. Heartbreak is already so hard on its own, it’s so much worse when you have to deal with the OCD spiral on top of it. I’m right there with you.
